Video is Not the Answer - Brian Bennett - 1 views

  •
"Video itself will not help kids achieve more in your class. The flipped classroom is about making connections with learners and differentiating your instruction. If videos are a part of that multi-faceted plan, great. If they are not, still great."

How to make RSA Animate style videos with your class… : Blogush - 0 views

  •
This teacher chose to have his students create RSA Animate-style videos as "an easy way to make them visualize their information, make connections, and re-tell their facts in a story that had a very tight story line that flowed.  All skills that would transfer nicely to any traditional essay." He really emphasizes the preparation and planning stages, which is great. He also talks about the process, which is useful.  All said, a great resource.

What My 11 Year Old's Stanford Course Taught Me About Online Education - Forbes - 0 views

  •
"My 11 year old son just took a course at Stanford. That has a nice ring to it but it is actually meaningless because these days anyone can take a course at Stanford. You don't even have to pay. All you need is access to a computer and a reasonable Internet connection. So what we can say is my 11 year old son just watched a bunch of videos on the Internet. That doesn't make for an interesting post except that this 'bunch of videos' is currently being heralded as the future of higher education." Joshua Gans, Forbes, 5/7/12

Shaping Tech for the Classroom | Edutopia - 2 views

"I used to have to tell my students about phenomena, or have them read; now I can show them," says Jim Doane, a science teacher at Scarborough Middle School, in Scarborough, Maine. When we begin adding digital demonstrations through video and Flash animation, we are giving students new, better ways to get information." This is sooo true - I love that I can show my kindergartners a video of a baby worm hatching from it's cocoon because the odds of us being able to see it in our worm bin despite the number of actual cocoons we may see are very, very low! Or videos of leaves changing color (in fast time) when we discuss chlorphyll and sunlight and fall. Or a magnificent closeup of our very own red wigglers as they "move" across the Promethean Board.
