There is a way to join the site so that it becomes a social networking site. There is also a workspace for you to add information that you want to keep track of, Blogs, and a way to make a group. It only has 35 members so if you like smaller more imitate sites then this is one for you.

This collaborative video creating site offers many possibilities! Students could use the site to create videos for a variety of purposes and projects. Teachers and schools could use the site to create videos content knowledge, professional development, or parent information. The site offers tutorials and education specific solutions.

Glogster lets you create a glog or an "interactive poster," that is, in effect, a personal Web page complete with embedded media links, sound, and video capabilities. Tikatok is where kids channel their imagination into stories - and publish those stories into books for you to share and treasure with friends and family. Tikatok also has a separate education site. Storytelling comes alive here! First, Tikatok has developed the StorySparks system, a database of hundreds of interactive story prompts that help a child get started in the writing process and get help when they need it. StorySparks help activate a child's natural motivation. Kids pick the topic, choose character names and genders, and always have the ability to modify or ignore any part of the prompt. Tikatok is a great site that allows the user to create and publish hardback or paperback books. The site is free and the printed books cost about $20.00. This site encourages students to use their creativity to write a story, draw illustrations and more!

This website is another site that allows children to author and illustrate a book online. The books can then be purchased in hardback, paperback, or PDF format. I really think that this site would appeal to students who like to use technology. It's an alternative to the paper and pencil writing that some students really seem to fear and avoid.

This site is a Web-based aggregator which allows you to create a webpage where personalized RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds can be collected on one site. The possibilities are endless in a classroom. Students can comment on a topic and share their opinions with others. The site could also be a place for students to listen to book talks by students, the library media specialist, or teacher.

HotChalk is a curriculum, planning, assessment, and professional development site for teachers, students, and parents. This site offers videos and other content information. It also allows teachers to put assignments online. The site claims to reduce plan time because of the wonderful resources for lesson planning it offers but I think I would spend some up front time getting everything figured out. The professional development resources are also very helpful. Users can save information in their desk, library, and class. Initial registration was free.

MLA writing format site

I am a little iffy about this site being interactive enough to be considered 2.0, but if you are teaching writing to older students, it is pretty nice. There are bibliography makers and tutorials so... I hope it is considered a 2.0 Web site :-)

This is a great site if you are a pet lover like me! This site is a good tool for people wanting to find a safe, reliable home for their pet or for people wanting to find a certain type of pet. You can search for any type of pet, even insects!! You can search by country, location, age, etc. It makes it very easy to find any pet you may be wanting, without wanting to contribute to puppy mills or other breeders. It is also great for people wanting to find a good home for a pet for people, for whatever the reason, can no longer care for it. There are photos to browse through as well. It is a great tool for keeping pets in good, loving homes.

This site is a kid-safe search engine that is powered by google. It combines the google safe search with their own restricted elements. It also allows teachers to remove sites if desired. Great for elementary research projects.

Fatburgr provides nutrition information for many of your favorite restaurants. Calories, fat grams, carbs, and fiber are all listed for menu items from restaurants such as Schlotzsky's, Chili's, McDonald's, Panera Bread, Krispy Kreme, and many more. With the focus on childhood obesity, this is a great site for kids (and adults) to compare menu items and learn how to make better choices when eating out. This site could be a fun resource for a health, or maybe even a math, activity.

This site captures history in numerous ways, videos, posters, photographs, historical documents, and more. What they are calling "digital vaults." However, this site goes much further than that... You can create your own posters or movies and many more creative historical items. They provide numerous photos, videos, and other things needed to create these items. You can also upload your own from your computer. There are lesson plans provided for educators using these resources.

Lookybook is a wonderful website that allows the user to read through a variety of picture books. After reading a book, the site also offers the opportunity to purchase the book through several different companies. The user can also create a "bookshelf" of favorite books to share with other users. This site could be used to do an author or illustrator study and is very helpful when deciding to read or purchase a book.

This site takes uploaded digital pictures and places them into a video set to music of your choosing. This is a fabulous tool to use in the classroom for various presentations. Everything from book reports to science presentations to classroom exhibitions can be shared using this site. The sky truly is the limit.

Blogger is a free site for blogging in just three easy steps: create an account, name the blog, and choose a template. It is one of the most popular blog creation sites. Choose a discussion topic and have students blog about it.

This web site helps you easily create a free online blog. You can use it showcase information about your classroom, such as photos, email links, student work, assignments/homework, and much more. Students can also create their own blog, to showcase their work, writing, what they've learned and technology experience.

If you like to travel this site be the right one for you. It gives user created reviews of various hotels. You can search for a city and availability dates and then see the reviews for the hotels that fit the search criteria. Not educational, but a neat site to look at if you are planning a trip.
