National Archives Experience Digital Vaults - 0 views

  •
This site captures history in numerous ways, videos, posters, photographs, historical documents, and more. What they are calling "digital vaults." However, this site goes much further than that... You can create your own posters or movies and many more creative historical items. They provide numerous photos, videos, and other things needed to create these items. You can also upload your own from your computer. There are lesson plans provided for educators using these resources.

Mapness! Your travel journal. - 0 views

Create your own travel journal for free! This would be great for geography lessons. It would also be good for using with literature that takes place in real locations. Teachers could also explore already created journals for use with classes.

HotChalk Learning Management System Connecting Teachers, Students and Parents - 1 views

  •
HotChalk is a curriculum, planning, assessment, and professional development site for teachers, students, and parents. This site offers videos and other content information. It also allows teachers to put assignments online. The site claims to reduce plan time because of the wonderful resources for lesson planning it offers but I think I would spend some up front time getting everything figured out. The professional development resources are also very helpful. Users can save information in their desk, library, and class. Initial registration was free.

This website has a lot of different videos, pictures, audio. etc that could be used in the classroom. All you have to do is type in what you want to search, and you will be amazed with what comes up! For example, I typed in "The Water Cycle" and had 10 different videos pop up!

How Many of Me - 0 views

  •
How Many of Me begins by stating that there are 305,818,604 people in the United States. It then asks, "How many have your name?" You type in your first and last name and it will tell you how many others in the U.S. have the same name. It will also tell you how many people in the U.S. have the same first name alone and how many have the same last name alone. There are links for statistics and data on famous people's names. This site would mostly be for fun, but you could tie it into ancestry and immigration lessons in the classroom.

ReadWriteThink - 0 views

  •
ReadWriteThink is a collection of lesson plans and interactive student tools that support K-12 literacy learning. These resources are a fantastic opportunity for students to use technology as a tool to learn. These are great activities for students to use as Reading Responses. If you have one or two computers in your classroom, use one of the activities as a Center and rotate students. If you have access to a mobile lab or computer lab, each student can spend more time with the activities.

Picnik makes your photos unique with easy to use yet powerful editing tools. Tweak to your heart's content and get creative with effects, fonts, shapes, and frames. The regular service is free or you could upgrade for a fee. This could be a great tool for teaching a digital camera lesson. It is important to teach students about backing up work and pictures are no exception!

My Da Vinci-Photo - 0 views

  •
This website takes regular photos and turns them into a piece of art. A normal photograph could be turned into an oil painting, a modern design (Andy Warhol, etc.), or you can even have a photo put on canvas. This isn't free, but it would be great to use for a photography club. It could also be used as an art lesson. A class could have a photo contest and the winner could get the photo made onto a canvas. The possibilities are endless. A great website (and tool) to know about!
