Parent/Caregiver Leadership Training - Anaconda - June 11 & 12, 2010 - 0 views

  • What: Training to develop leadership and advocacy skills   Who: For parents/caregivers of youth diagnosed with mental illness willing to use their new skills to advocate for children with mental health needs beyond the needs of their own child.  When: Starts: ~3:00pm, Friday June 11th till ~3:00pm Saturday 12th  Where: Fairmont Hot Springs by Anaconda  Why: There needs to be a parent/caregiver voice in the system of care for children’s mental health. Parents/caregivers that have been through the experience of raising a child with a mental illness are the experts in what treatments and services are effective for recovery. Therefore parents/caregivers are key to improvement of the SOC for mental illness. In order to get parent/caregiver voice into the system of care, a leadership and advocacy training will empower parents by giving them the tools and skills to be involved in the SOC.

    What:
The Pyramid Model for Supporting Social Emotional Competence in Infants and Young Children is a conceptual framework of evidence-based practices developed by two national, federally-funded research and training centers: The Center for the Social and Emotional Foundations for Early Learning (CSEFEL) and The Technical Assistance Center for Social Emotional Intervention (TACSEI). Most recently, TACSEI developed a family coaching approach for implementing the Pyramid Model with caregivers in homes. This approach was developed to support home visitors who are working with caregivers of infants and toddlers with or at-risk for disabilities. The approach focuses on supporting home visitors in the use of evidence-based family coaching strategies to enhance caregivers' capacity to promote their infant or toddlers' social emotional competence. This presentation will describe the family coaching approach to implementing the pyramid model. When:

8 Essential Tips For Preventing Caregiver Burnout | Friendship Circle -- Special Needs ... - 0 views

  • “Who needs caffeine when I can have adrenaline-fueled adventures all day and all night?” That’s what I used to say when my son was little.  By 1 or 2 pm on most days, my hands started trembling from the constant stream of adrenaline. My mind was always on alert because my hyperactive son was an escape artist with a knack for getting himself into dangerous situations.  I had to think quickly on the run.

Routines-Based Early Intervention - Helena/Billings - May 21 / May 23, 2012 - 0 views

  •
Click here to download the full flyer for this event (PDF) What:
Children deserve the most effective intervention possible, provided in the most relevant places, at the most relevant times, by the most relevant people. In the Routines-Based approach, professionals work with the child's natural caregivers, who are generally parents and child care providers or teachers. Parents and other caregivers learn to make the most out of the learning opportunities that occur throughout the day, every day. This results in much more effective and meaningful intervention than, for example, weekly sessions in a therapy room. The child's best "interventionists" are those adults who are with the child throughout the day. Participants will learn the importance of: Understanding the family ecology and the usefulness of the ecomap Family-centered, functional assessment and the usefulness of the Routines-Based Interview Integrating services and the usefulness of the primary service provider Support-based home visits and the usefulness of family consultation Collaborative consultation to child care and the usefulness of consultation individualized within routines When/Where:
