About poverty in Africa. It has stories, facts and pictures. When reading some of the facts I just couldn't even imagine it being true.

if i could, i would totally go to africa and give everysingle child something to help them through the hard times. Just a little teddy bear will do the trick, just to have something to hold and love. that makes them feel happy inside. This artical is about how africa is such a poor country and they need halp and fast. children are getting water from streams that other people have to use the restroom in and take showers with. its so sad. D: my heart aches for them.

I think this website had a lot of things to read, but it was all good information. It was very interesting to read the left side, all of the short facts.

This article talks about poverty around the world and gives statistics. I was shocked when it said that 1 child dies every four seconds due to poverty. 15 children die every minute.

I was completly shocked at what this article had to say. I was not happy with the notion that every four seconds a child dies and most likely it is causes realates to poverty. I want to help those in need. The pictures that they had of the children made my heart ache. I know that we might not save every child in the world but maybe we can reduce those numbers.

Definatly a eye-opening article. The first few lines of text were like a bomb to the heart. It's just so sad that so many children are dying, and that there is no clear, easy solution.

This article is giving information about how many people are struggling in the United States from poverty. It gives causes and facts about hunger in the U.S. It was very eye opening when I read that 13 percent of people in the U.S. struggle with hunger. 16.7 million children live in households that struggle with putting food on the table.

In the "hunger and poverty in african americans" article, i was so shocked of the total income, food insecurities, and poverty total. I am completely blown away by this!

I definetly agree with Adele. It's also sad that 51.4% of Americans will live in poverty before the age of 65. But it is nice to see that not only does this website have facts that grab you and give you a sense of how big this problem is, they also have solutions. The more solutions we can get, the better.

i liked how it said help stop proverty by educatong yourself and friends. It reminded me of the qoute at the zoo "plan for a month plant rice plan for a year plant trees plan for a life plant education"

I thought the article wasn't the most detailed but it still outlined ways of helping people in poverty

I think that this article had some good ideas for helping to stop poverty. It also had links to organizations that help end poverty. The article really showed me how easy it is for us to use organizations to help the world.

This article gives facts and statistics that could be useful for research. It struck me that 1 in 4 kids in developing countries are underweight. makes me realize that i want to give back but i don't know how

These statistics account for one third of all human deaths. More people die as a result of extreme poverty than of any other cause. This article says that !8 million people die every year because of poverty and hunger. That is only 1/3 of people accounted for. There is still 2/3 that people dont evenknow about.18 million is a lot of people. But 18 million is only the number of people recorded who died. There are millions of others dieing every year more than recorded. That was a major shock to me. I dont understand how this many people alone struggle with hunger. They could go days without food in their bodys. That just amazes me.

Its so so sad to see all of the people effected by poverty, and how many people die from it

General Facts about poverty in America. Facts include-Household participation in the food stamp program has increased 20.28% since last year,The number of Americans on food stamps surpassed 41 million for the first time ever in June 2010, Nearly 10 million Americans now receive unemployment insurance, which is almost four times as many as in 2007, and more. This is very depressing. We need to do something before it gets worse.

It's amazing how much the food stamp program has increased and how many families are in poverty! I also like how they make the facts short and add pictures, because for me it makes it much more interesting.

This article is about what causes poverty. I like how it goes into the social and cultural details that come with poverty. It talks about mental aspects of poverty, not just physical.

It's mostly about the effect poverty has on people (like children) throughout their life. "many children growing up in very poor families with low social status experience unhealthy levels of stress hormones, which impair their neural development."

I thought the quote "poverty in early childhood poisons the brain," was really interesting. If you are in poverty as a child you feel ashamed and never are brought out of it, then making your children live it in their lives too. I thought that quote was very strong.

It surprised me that 26.9 percent of latino's have a hard time to put food on the table. I feel sad.

if america is one of the wealthiest countries we should be sharing the wealth instead of keeping it to ourselves. it surprised me that most people will go through poverty before they are 65.

This article is about the definition of hunger and malnutrition, what causes malnutrition,like someone with celic disease, effects of malnutrition, such as getting a weak imune system and fatigue,like who has a high risk of malnutrition, such as people living in poverty,and treatments and recommendations for malnutrition, which is talking to your doctor. Knowing that over 1 billion people in the world are malnurished is heart-breaking and nervracking, since that's more than the U.S., Canda, and the European Union's entire population!

I find this artcle not suprising. I see it, go downtown to the brewery district, you'll see it. That article was made in 2001 i think. I wonder if those statistics are still the same.

This article talks about women in Africa that are in poverty and how the Hunger Project is helping.

2/3 of women!! I agree with Molly. That scares me as well. The one thing I'm wondering is why women? Why are women getting the disease? Women are making a sacrifice so their children can eat is very brave. Especially in poverty. I can see they are making a big scarafice.

I thought is was really sad when they said that women are trying to help meet their families needs but are restricted because of the lack of resources. I would hate to be in poverty, but it would be even worse if you had to watch your children suffer and there is no way that you can help them.

This article is talking about the similarities and differences between the Depression and now. The author is saying how they might have had it better than us because they tried to get jobs instead of now how people just ask the government.

I know a couple people from the depression, one was affected very badly from it and one wasn't. so i have heard what it is like to live through something like that, and i cant even imagine having to. to have all your deams vanish and be depressed all the time because you can't do anything because you can't afford it.

This website has a bunch of statistics about different areas of poverty. For example, they have a section of statistics about where child poverty is concentrated. This website has both causes and effects of poverty. But what I also like about this website, is it has not only things about poverty, but also things about hunger, and homelessness. This website really expresses how poverty has grown, and how it effects everyone, especially children. It make me feel very fortunate that I am healthy, go to a great school, and have loving and educated parents.
