This website provides information about several health issues that are a result of poverty. It also introduces you to one of the several solutions to help end poverty. This article really forced me to see the reality of it and just how many people are impacted.

The fact that every 3 1/2 seconds, a person dies due to poverty is really sickening. It makes me feel guilty that we have such a great life compared to others.

thats so sad that over 25,000 people die a day because of poverty. it is also very sad because they show the pictures of the people who died witch made me very sad.

I couldn't believe how many people were in poverty and how how fast it was rising. When i read this i wanted to donate food to food pantries so people in poverty could have more to eat.

I found it very shocking by how much the poverty rate increased from 2008 to 2009. It didnt even show 2010 or 2011 which means it must have rapidly increased again. Its a great website but a very sad one.

This is unbelieveable! 22,000 children die every day due to poverty? It makes me feel like we really need to do SOMETHING. We have enough money to make a big change in the poverty levels, if we did something about it.

i think its really sad that over half of the world makes less than 2.30 dollars a day. its also sad how many kids and people die each day from poverty and hunger. we should think of better ways to provide other people with food because there is enough for everyone.

I was completly shocked at what this article had to say. I was not happy with the notion that every four seconds a child dies and most likely it is causes realates to poverty. I want to help those in need. The pictures that they had of the children made my heart ache. I know that we might not save every child in the world but maybe we can reduce those numbers.

Ohio has the top 3 poorest cities. i thought that ohio had tones of money before this came up. Its sad that Ohio can't help the people in those city. Why can't we lower the taxes or something like that to help the people that need it.

I was surprised to see the one of the facts said that poverty is a much more complex problem today than it was when the war on poverty began in the 1960s. I would have thought that that it would have gotten better because there were more jobs avaliable and more money. It would make sense to be bad in the 1960s because there werent a lot of jobs available. What if it keeps getting worse? What will happen in about 50 years from now? Will everybody be living in poverty? It would be helpful to find these answers out now.

proverty has grown 41.7 percent in ohio last year. Most of the people who have proverty has a family of four. Thats just sad because i have a family of 4 and we are having hard times with money. My family is working out the prombles fast because we don't want to go homeless.

It was surprising that the population only increased 1% but the poverty level increased 41%. It made me realize how many people are in poverty right here in Ohio.

2/3 of women!! I agree with Molly. That scares me as well. The one thing I'm wondering is why women? Why are women getting the disease? Women are making a sacrifice so their children can eat is very brave. Especially in poverty. I can see they are making a big scarafice.

I thought is was really sad when they said that women are trying to help meet their families needs but are restricted because of the lack of resources. I would hate to be in poverty, but it would be even worse if you had to watch your children suffer and there is no way that you can help them.

This article talks about 11 effects of homelessness on teenagers. Some of them were incredible shocking. Like the statistic that 1 in four homeless youth have traded sex for survival needs. It was also sad that one in 260 homeless youths is murdered

Wow that was really scary, i can't believe that people would do that just to have food. I just want to help them. I can't believe that they would even be in a situation where they would have to do that.

These are the stories of many children and tennagers tat are facing poverty. One of the articles I find really disturbing is the one about white Guinea Worms, which grow in the body after drinking contaminated water and eventually burst throught the skin, to be pulled out by hand. These parasites can grow to be meters in length.

It's so sad to see what people have to go through, and it's great that these organizations are providing them education.

I think that is was so sad when the kids were talking about their dreams one day of going to college and pulling themselves out of poverty. Hopefully one day the United States and even us can help them to achieve their goals and dreams.

This article really opens your eyes to the reason why we have poverty. It gives who is to blame and why many people don't know about poverty or very little about it.

this shows the results of poverty and how it affects world hunger. I was very surprised after i read about how much things most people that are being affected by poverty can't get. I was also very surprised on how many children die of poverty in under 5 years.

35.9 million people in America live below the poverty line. About 100 billion pounds of food each year is wasted in America. Those living in poverty would gladly accept the food that would go to waste. Some families have to skip a meal or each very little becasue they can't afford to eat alot. In a house, about 14% of the food that is bought will be wasted. And around 49 million people could have been fed by that food. \nSeeing all of the wasted food and people that could use that food makes me want to find a way to save some of that food and give it to people in poverty. Also it's sad to know that there are alot of kids out there that live in poverty. If I were a parent it would be hard on me not being able to provide for my kids.

This article is about the effcts poverty has on children. It gives the consequences poverty sometimes causes for children living in it. Children living in poverty are more likely to have behavior problems, as well as emotional and physical problems. I felt upset reading about the consequences that children living in poverty had to deal with because it wasn't their fault they were poor.

Wow...this article really grabs you with the first few facts. I find it heartbreaking that 1 in 2 children, over 1 billion in all, live in poverty. When one is born into poverty, it's hard to leave it. These 1 billion children may never know what it's like to not be hungry.

About poverty in Africa. It has stories, facts and pictures. When reading some of the facts I just couldn't even imagine it being true.

if i could, i would totally go to africa and give everysingle child something to help them through the hard times. Just a little teddy bear will do the trick, just to have something to hold and love. that makes them feel happy inside. This is an article about how Philadelphia cut its food pantry budget while so many families are already struggling. To be more specific they cut their State Food Purchase Program which is how the states buy food for their food pantries.

Why would you you do a budget cut for a food pantry when tones of familys need the most help they can get.

Thye decision to cut Philadelphia's food pantry, is cutting on human lives. People who are in poverty are starving in Philadelphia, and whithout people alive in Philadelphia, then what, or where is Philadelphia?!
