Origins - Richard Leakey - 0 views

  •
Leakey recounts the story of a primitive Kenyon Village "People of the Lake," the main points of Leakey's writing are that we know very little about the origins of humanity. Most of what we know is devised from studies of a very few bones dated to millions of years ago.

How Life Began - Roy Gallant - 0 views

  •
Gallant re traces the development of humanity and many different creation stories which are linked in seemingly impossible ways. He emphasizes the theme of life coming the ocean which is a common thread throughout so many creation stories. What was really important to my studies from the sections of the book that I read was the theme of human observation. There is a strong idea that whether it be scientific or religious and fantastical stories of creation, all come from humans depiction of what is around them, and is an attempt to understand how they got to where they are.

In the Beginning - Virginia Hamilton - 0 views

  •
This is a compilation of creation stories from small tribes around the world. From Navajo people of the southwestern U.S. to remote tribes traced to the island of Madagascar. This was a tremendous source to get me started on understanding the variety of creation myths, and seeing the commonalities in a very succinct form. The book is also well illustrated which makes it more fun, and easy to read.

David Wood - Lincoln Church - 0 views

  •
David and I were able to talk not that long ago at the Lincoln Church. He is the reverend at the Lincoln Community Church and was an amazing person to talk to about his beliefs pertaining the importance of science in creation and in religion. He was a major component in my final project, which was a podcast. From him I better understand the idea of open-mindedness and having an unconditionally open view about all aspects of the world. David is a amazing guy and I am so glad he collaborated with me on this project.

Dr. Donald Griswold - 0 views

  •
Mr. Griswold was a teacher I had last year in Physics 2. He agreed to be interviewed for my project on creation. He was interesting to interview because he was raised in a strict Baptist home, but has since then become a Physicist and teacher and has studied neurology. He gave me a ton of information about the brain, and how the human intercepts data and reasons about the past. All of the most important aspects of his conversation are featured on my podcast.

How Products Are Made - 0 views

This site has 7 volumes of items and what they are made of. It gives you not only the materials needed to make the item, but also the natural resources that make up each part if the object. I used this site during a science project where we were told to pick a household object and find out everything that it is made of and where it was made. I found this site first and it helped me a ton, I hope it's useful for you too.

Biology Terms - 0 views

  •
Biology online is a website that helped me throughout the course of the second semester. Its main purpose is to provide definitions for Biology terms. Whenever I was confused about a term or topic we were covering in Biology this site helped me understand. It is useful because all the definitions are so easily accessible. This source is very reliable and in depth, it gives the same definitions that are in class notes. I would recommend this website, it has helped me with so many homework assignments and helped me study for tests. This source gives direct answers and spot on examples to help people get a better understanding of the overall topic.

Deforestation - 0 views

  •
The purpose of this website is to spread awareness and educate people on environmental issues. WWF also is an environmental conservation program that has offices all around the world. Many topics are covered on this website; for example, deforestation and the causes and impacts of this issue. I did a lot of my research for a big deforestation paper on this website. It was very efficient and useful, also containing many great articles with tons of information. This websites gives great statistics and facts, which is why I would recommend this source. I think it has really changed my thinking and understanding of the topic deforestation for the better because I am now educated on this topic as well as aware of the many impacts in can have on our earth.

Susan B. Anthony History - 0 views

  •
This website describes Susan B. Anthony's lifestyle in six different sections: abolitionist, educational reformer, labor activist, temperance worker, suffragist and women rights campaigner. As Susan B. Anthony grew older her interests changed. The goal of this site was to focus on the main points in her life, give an overview for each of them and show how she made the decision that helping women achieve the right to vote was a greater problem than establishing stronger liquor laws. This was the most useful resource that I used in my essay on Susan B. Anthony and how she impacted American History; I specifically needed information about her life from when she was a young adult (20's) to her death. The Susan B. Anthony House does not include very much about her childhood, which was fine for my purposes. The information is reliable because the Susan B. Anthony House isn't a bias source; it is all facts and doesn't have include any opinions about her life. I would definitely recommend this website to anyone who wants to learn about Susan B. Anthony's adult life. The organization of the site was wonderful and the material was easy to understand. I was able to find information about Susan B. Anthony's rebellion, campaigns and petitions. I used this source to support the idea that Anthony effect America's History. When learning about Susan B. Anthony I realized that throughout the world equality still hasn't been fully achieved; in some places women are still paid less than men.

United States Holocaust Memorial Museum - 0 views

  •
The Holocaust Memorial site is organized into four different sections: Museum Information, Resources for Academics and Research, Resources for Educators and Resources for Professionals and Student Leaders. This site was created so that people could learn about the Holocaust and look at pictures of the museum without actually being there. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum was very helpful for me during my VHS Holocaust Course because it includes timelines, facts, videos, artifacts, a tour of the ghettos and concentration camps and pictures from the museum. This is the best website that I have found on the Holocaust, it has everything. Also the Holocaust Memorial website is very reliable because I have checked it with other sites and it was used by my teacher (we went on to tour the camps and look up videos). I would definitely recommend this source to anyone who wants to learn about the Holocaust, knows little about the Holocaust or who wants to go to the Museum.
