This website gives an intricate background and play by play of the Scopes trial a.k.a. The State of Tennessee v. John Thomas Scopes. The trial pitted the theory of evolution against Christian creation, and challenged Tennessee's anti evolution statute. Renown attorney Clarence Darrow defended John Scopes, and three time presidential candidate William Jennings Bryant represented the state of Tennessee. Scopes taught Darwin's theory of evolution to students in a Tennessee classroom while acting as a substitute. The case was a clash between Traditionalists and Modernists, and determined a lot about the progression of society in the face of evolution and religion. The debate is still one that is prevalent today and this site gives good history of one of the key turning points in the ongoing discussion.

This site shows the evolution of DNA. It also shows all DNA, besides identical twins, is different, and how that helps people solve crimes.

Gallant re traces the development of humanity and many different creation stories which are linked in seemingly impossible ways. He emphasizes the theme of life coming the ocean which is a common thread throughout so many creation stories. What was really important to my studies from the sections of the book that I read was the theme of human observation. There is a strong idea that whether it be scientific or religious and fantastical stories of creation, all come from humans depiction of what is around them, and is an attempt to understand how they got to where they are.

This debate has been a very popular and controversial subject over the past weeks since it was aired. Ken Ham represents the christian, old testament, view of creationism and debates Bill Nye, who defends the theory of evolution, and the earth being 4 billion years old. The premise of Ken Hams argument is that there is a large misconception in modern science, in which "historical science" is studied in he same way as "observational science." His claim is that scientists cannot make claims about the age of the earth or "the past" solely by observing the present. Bill Nye tries to prove his own point that observational science and historical science are in the same category of study, and that the only way to make conclusions about the past, present or future is by observing the natural earth as it is now. Nye also makes a strong effort to disprove the old testament's claim that the earth is only 6,000 years old, and that during Noah's Ark there in fact was a global flood. The debate is extremely thought provoking, no matter who you agree with coming into it. This particular debate is at the core of my ILO focus, and I recommend it to anyone who is interested in the idea of creation.

Leakey recounts the story of a primitive Kenyon Village "People of the Lake," the main points of Leakey's writing are that we know very little about the origins of humanity. Most of what we know is devised from studies of a very few bones dated to millions of years ago.

Did Briggs and Stratton start the evolution of the hybrid car? I beleave they did in 1980 they created this very interesting car with a 2 cylinder air cooled 4 stroke lawnmower engine along with a small electric motor along with both motors it would get 35-85mpg

This is a well written book about the evolution of weapons and how different cultures have changed the basic shape and styles.

David and I were able to talk not that long ago at the Lincoln Church. He is the reverend at the Lincoln Community Church and was an amazing person to talk to about his beliefs pertaining the importance of science in creation and in religion. He was a major component in my final project, which was a podcast. From him I better understand the idea of open-mindedness and having an unconditionally open view about all aspects of the world. David is a amazing guy and I am so glad he collaborated with me on this project.

Mr. Griswold was a teacher I had last year in Physics 2. He agreed to be interviewed for my project on creation. He was interesting to interview because he was raised in a strict Baptist home, but has since then become a Physicist and teacher and has studied neurology. He gave me a ton of information about the brain, and how the human intercepts data and reasons about the past. All of the most important aspects of his conversation are featured on my podcast.

This is a compilation of creation stories from small tribes around the world. From Navajo people of the southwestern U.S. to remote tribes traced to the island of Madagascar. This was a tremendous source to get me started on understanding the variety of creation myths, and seeing the commonalities in a very succinct form. The book is also well illustrated which makes it more fun, and easy to read.
