Cappex- College Research - 0 views

  •
Again, another great tool for college research. This site is very organized. Though it shares a lot of the same qualities as other college research sources (finding a college, scholarship chances, admission chances, etc.) my favorite part of it is how organized the student reviews are. Through Cappex, you can choose one of your favorite colleges, and see one students review of the school in entirety, then scroll down and see the next students review of the school. It is organized in a way that you can see clearly multiple students opinions about the same area of the college. Cappex is easy to navigate, and another strong source to use for college research.

Polygyny In A Wild Wolf Pack - 0 views

  •
A study by David Mech and Michael Nelson about mating patterns in North American Gray Wolves. The study was conducted on radio tagged wolves in the Superior National Forest of Minnesota. It is commonly understood that Gray Wolves mate for life, most commonly with a member of the same pack and can produce as much offspring as a litter per year of their adult life. This article defies that pre-conceived notion, following a single male who interacts with multiple females while they are both in heat. The male is tracked meeting with both females at the same time over 19 times, always in areas far from the occupation of any other wolves or packs. It is interesting to see that, like humans, wolves have a tendency to stray from the common institution of a single mate for life.

This website was what I found after looking at a website that involved a blank book you could buy. Considering I did not want to buy a book, I researched ways that I could improvise but have the same effect and I found this website. It helped me map out what I needed to do in order to meet my goal.

Bill Nye vs. Ken Ham - 1 views

  •
This debate has been a very popular and controversial subject over the past weeks since it was aired. Ken Ham represents the christian, old testament, view of creationism and debates Bill Nye, who defends the theory of evolution, and the earth being 4 billion years old. The premise of Ken Hams argument is that there is a large misconception in modern science, in which "historical science" is studied in he same way as "observational science." His claim is that scientists cannot make claims about the age of the earth or "the past" solely by observing the present. Bill Nye tries to prove his own point that observational science and historical science are in the same category of study, and that the only way to make conclusions about the past, present or future is by observing the natural earth as it is now. Nye also makes a strong effort to disprove the old testament's claim that the earth is only 6,000 years old, and that during Noah's Ark there in fact was a global flood. The debate is extremely thought provoking, no matter who you agree with coming into it. This particular debate is at the core of my ILO focus, and I recommend it to anyone who is interested in the idea of creation.

I love this website because it gave me a lot of helpful photography tips. A lot of them I hadn't thought of before. The main points covered in the article are tips about camera techniques and when to shoot photos. The purpose is to improve the skills of the photographer and the quality of their photos. I will use this information every time I go for a shoot because it's really valuable and the tips are excellent. This source is easy to read and clearly organized because it's more of a list than an article. The article is so engaging that it makes me want to pick up my camera and go take photos and practice the tips listed!

Colonists coming to the New World - 0 views

  •
The main points in this article are the settlements, population sources, the relationships with Native Americans, government, religion, and economy and population growth for the English, French and Spanish Colonies. The purpose of this article is to show the similarities and differences between the English, French and Spanish Colonists during the founding of the New World. There are many topics covered in this article, however the most important topic is the colonists and how they are different even though they came from the same continent: Europe. This articles is a comparison of the three colonists groups and which group would be the best suited to colonize the New World. This is a very useful source to use as notes or to help you debate a certain side, because it shows you the group's strong points as well as the drawbacks. Other sources that I have used only talk about on group of colonists and you really have to dig for answers, whereas this site is organized in a chart and all the information is right in front of you. This was very useful for my U.S. History class because this website showed the different groups of European colonists and their strengths and weaknesses.

Weight, Perceived Gravity, and Weightlessness - 0 views

  •
This video discussed the difference between absolute gravity and perceived gravity. It talked about how an object in free fall is weightless but still experiences gravity. It explained how G-force is not the same as gravity, because it can also be caused by acceleration, and it even showed some interesting experiments that demonstrate some of the concepts that were talked about.

Biology online is a website that helped me throughout the course of the second semester. Its main purpose is to provide definitions for Biology terms. Whenever I was confused about a term or topic we were covering in Biology this site helped me understand. It is useful because all the definitions are so easily accessible. Math Formulas - 0 views

I recently found a website that is a perfect source to find geometry formulas. It was very useful when I forgot a page of notes with many formulas I needed. This website is very straight forward and has great visuals that helped me understand the math concept. It is very reliable seeing as my answers matched up with the ones on the key, and for that reason I would definitely recommend it. All of the formulas are on the same page, making it very helpful and efficient to do my review worksheets.

The purpose of this website is to learn and explore the science behind how "everyday objects" work. This website is also great because you can explore the different parts of the website to find a topic that interests you. It is such an engaging site for that reason because even though you are able to read about a topic that interests you, at the same time you are learning about the science behind your interest!

25 Tips for Fundraising - 0 views

  •
This website included 25 tips on how to run a successful fundraiser in a school. Considering the Music Department hosts many fundraisers each year I decided that these tips could help me to evaluate what we are doing right and what changes we could make to become more successful. One idea I appreciated was to avoid doing the "small" fundraisers. While I had thought that any amount of money would be helpful, this site pointed out that parents and students begin to suffer from "fundraising fatigue" when they are asked to participate in multiple events. Also, although we have the same fundraisers every year, we are very bad about letting parents know at the beginning of the year the different fundraisers we will need help with. This website suggests to let parents and students know as soon as possible what the group will need their participation in. I thought this was a helpful website in because they presented their information in an eye-catching and a simply put way. Also, they would give a bullet point of helpful information, and then divulge further to explain their reasoning.
