  •
This article discusses the changes being implemented into the nonprofit sector in the technology area. New technologies are being used to assist in accomplishing the organization's mission statement as well as using funding to its greatest potential and maximizing funding coming in. "In a release, Kristen Fulks, Blackbaud principal consultant and another co-author of the paper, said that 'We think it is very important to share fundraising technology trends with the nonprofit community, yet the fundamentals familiar to any fundraiser still apply,' she said. 'With the ever-demanding challenges of the economy and other influences, it is even more critical to get donors engaged faster, rather than just using technology for technology's sake.'"

  •
The disasterous earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear meltdown that is being experienced in Japan has had some policymakers in the US crying for reexaminations into our own infrastructure to make sure that if we were struck by some sort of natural disaster our infrastructure would fair better than Japans. Earthquake detection, as well as a tsunami warning system are two things on the top of the list as to what should be done or examined.

Yet another journalist's/expert's opinion on how to best use facebook for a non-profit, including the importance of goals
  •
Gives good tips on how an organization should use facebook. Some of the good tips promote communicating to the fan-base as well as encourage fan-to-fan communication. One of the most important things about NPOs and Facebook is to have a purpose with your page. This article strongly condemns having a page "just to be on facebook" and says that having a strong purpose makes facebook that much more successful.
  •
"It's important for any digitally-minded non-profit to be on Facebook because of the sheer number of active users. So, great - you set up a Facebook account for your organization. Now what?" E-book sales top paperbacks for first time in February - Apr. 15, 2011 - 0 views

  •
Even though I knew e-books were emerging on the market during the last few years to compete with paperbacks, I was shocked to read this news that e-books sold more than paperbacks last February. This shift from paperbacks to e-books marks a monumental shift in literacy and education in our society. This could also be a huge shift for education non-profits and public schools, especially well-off universities that have the money to use kindles and alike products. The next two years will see the biggest surge according to Barnes and Noble exec Marc Parrish. No doubt, this will change the way people and organizations read and get their information.
