According to the foundation, the future of psychoanalysis depends on countering the field's insularity and increasing public awareness of the benefits of psychoanalytic treatments and the applications of psychoanalytic thought to organizational and social problems. To that end, the 2019 Division 39 grant is designed to help build the psychoanalytic profession's capacity in this area. Through the program, a single grant of $6,000 will be awarded for work that articulates for the general public the value of psychoanalytic principles and/or treatments. The foundation is interested in work in the areas of education, research, and service that demonstrate the value of psychoanalytic principals and is especially committed to supporting the next generation of psychoanalysts and psychoanalytically oriented psychologists and to improving the health and well-being of underserved populations.

The American Psychological Foundation provides financial support for innovative research and programs that enhance the power of psychology to elevate the human condition and advance human potential, both today and for generations to come. As part of this mission, APF is accepting applications for its APF Trauma Psychology Grant. Through the annual program, a single grant of up to $3,000 will be awarded in support innovative work aimed at alleviating trauma. To be eligible, applicants must be an early-career psychologist (no more than ten years postdoctoral); be affiliated with a nonprofit charitable, educational, or scientific institution, or governmental entity operating exclusively for charitable and educational purposes; have a demonstrated knowledge of trauma and trauma research; have demonstrated competence and capacity to execute the proposed work; and, if human participants are involved, have IRB approval from his/her host institution before funding can be awarded.

Operating as a field of interest fund of the Denver Foundation, the Colorado Health Access Fund works to improve healthcare access and outcomes for underserved populations in the state by reducing barriers to treatment, supporting community-based solutions, and  disseminating project successes and obstacles, all with the goal of improving industry best practices. In support of this mission, the fund currently is accepting applications from behavioral health organizations working to increase access to treatment for those with mental health and substance use disorders. Grants of up to $250,000 will be awarded to programs, collaborations, and capital improvements that help improve health care for those who have an identified behavioral health issue concurrent with an additional barrier to health equity such as homelessness, a lack of health insurance, a physical disability, or a primary language other than English. Grants may be awarded for up to three consecutive years.

The awards pursuant to this Notice of Funding Opportunity are contingent upon the availability of funds. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC) is soliciting investigator-initiated research that will help expand and advance our understanding about what works to prevent overdose from prescription and illicit opioids by developing and piloting, or rigorously evaluating novel primary or secondary prevention interventions. The intent of this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) is to: (1) build the scientific base for the primary or secondary prevention of opioid overdose, and (2) encourage collaboration of scientists from a spectrum of disciplines including public health, epidemiology, law enforcement, social work, economics, and criminal justice to perform research that can identify ways to prevent opioid overdose more effectively. Interventions can be strategies, programs, or policies. Ultimately, this research is intended to improve state and local health departments’ ability to implement and improve interventions focused on preventing opioid-related deaths. Researchers are expected to develop and pilot, or rigorously evaluate novel primary or secondary prevention interventions that address prescription or illicit opioid overdose. Primary prevention approaches are expected to aim to prevent opioid misuse, abuse, and overdose before it occurs. Secondary prevention approaches are expected to focus on the more immediate responses to opioid overdose, such as emergency department services and linkage to treatment immediately following a nonfatal overdose.

Grants of up to $300,000 over two years will be awarded to investigators at any level performing research involving two or more unique sites, with each site contributing unique expertise as well as data collection.

The Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University is accepting applications for its 2019-2020 Fellowship Program Through the program, stipends of up to $77,500 for one year with additional funds for project expenses will be awarded to individuals working in the creative arts, humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and mathematics to pursue projects within their fields. In addition, some support for relocation expenses is provided where relevant. In addition to the stipend, fellows receive office or studio space and access to libraries and other resources of Harvard University during the fellowship year, which runs from early September 2019 through May 31, 2020. Visual, film, and video artists may apply for either one or two semesters. In the event that they come for one semester, the stipend is $38,750. Radcliffe Fellows are expected to devote themselves full time to the work outlined in their proposal. Since this is a residential fellowship, fellows are expected to reside in the Boston area during the fellowship period and to have their primary office at the institute to participate fully in the life of the community. The deadline for individual applications in the creative arts, humanities, and social sciences is September 13, 2018. For applications in the natural sciences and mathematics, the deadline is October 4, 2018.

The purpose of this funding opportunity is to incorporate social outcomes (quality of life, untreated pain, etc.) and cost effectiveness into FDA's existing model and policy analysis tool. Work resulting from this funding opportunity should provide more holistic insight into the opioid crisis and enhance decision makers' ability to propose and consider policy options. Such work will require the integration of new structural components, new data, and new analyses into the model. Given the paucity of data surrounding opioids interventions, this effort will also require studies to collect information about the costs, social outcomes, and other details associated with potential policies.

DHAPP's goal is to maximize program impact by focusing on the drivers of the epidemic specific to the military, and to support the development of interventions and programs that address these issues. DHAPP works with militaries of foreign countries to devise plans based on the following process:* Meet with key partners in country to determine provisional major program areas and other technical assistance needs DoD HIV/AIDS Prevention Program (DHAPP), based at the Naval Health Research Center (NHRC) in San Diego, California, provides technical assistance, management, and administrative support of the global HIV/AIDS prevention, care, and treatment for foreign militaries. DHAPP administers funding, conducts training, and provides technical assistance to participating militaries. In addition DHAPP staff members, both HQ and country based, serve on most of the PEPFAR Technical Working Groups (TWG) and Core teams through the Office of the U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator. DHAPP provides HIV program execution and monitors outcomes, with staff that includes active duty military, civil service, and contractor personnel.

Those who work on positive applied neuropsychology are encouraged to apply. To be eligible, psychologists must hold an Ed.D., Psy.D., or Ph.D. from an accredited university and be no more than seven years postdoctoral.

Made possible through a 12-year, $50 million commitment from the Amgen Foundation, Amgen Scholars allows undergraduates from across the globe to participate in cutting-edge research opportunities at world-class institutions. 17 leading institutions across the U.S., Europe and Japan currently host the summer program. Fellows spend one year working on the staff of a member of Congress or congressional committee. Activities may involve drafting legislation, conducting oversight work, assisting with congressional hearings and events, and preparing briefs and speeches. Fellows also attend a two-week orientation program on congressional and executive branch operations, which provides guidance for the congressional placement process, and participate in a yearlong seminar series on science and public policy issues. The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) administers these professional development activities for the APA fellows and for fellows sponsored by over two dozen other professional societies. APA and APF will each sponsor up to two congressional fellows for a one-year appointment beginning Sept. 1, 2019.

The Dr. Christine Blasey-Ford Grant will provide up to $1,500 to support innovative work to support graduate students and early career researchers conducting work focusing on the understanding, prevention and/or treatment of the consequences of exposure to traumatic events such as sexual assault, sexual harassment and/or rape.

Through the program, a single grant of up to $20,000 will be awarded in support of the practice/education of or research by an early-career psychologist that explores the connection between mental and physical health, with a focus on work/research that contributes to public health. Examples of initiatives eligible for support include but are not limited o: research-based programs that teach medical doctors counseling skills; research-based programs focused on the effect of behavior on health; and research-based programs that explore psychologists' role in medical settings for the benefit of patients. Priority will be given to psychologists working in medical schools.

The Assembly of Scientist/Practitioner Psychologists (ASPP), a caucus of the Council of Representatives (COR) of APA, is providing an expense paid trip to the February 2015 Council meeting in Washington, D.C., for a doctoral student in psychology to become familiar with the governance structure of the APA Council and the caucuses and how they work. At the COR meeting the student who receives the award will be mentored by the Chair of the ASPP.

Research projects should have the potential to exert influence through policies or practices that enhance family planning, including contraception and abortion. When addressing impact, consider who could potentially benefit from your work, as well as ways to increase the chances that those potential benefits will reach the target audience.

Fellows receive an annual stipend of $30,000 for up to two years for completion of their dissertation and related research at their academic institution. Up to fifteen fellowships are awarded annually. Fellows must be enrolled in a doctoral program at an accredited academic institution in the United States and are selected from a range of academic disciplines, including but not limited to social work, public health, medicine, public policy, education, economics, psychology, and epidemiology.

As an initiative of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, the Aspiring Physicians & Research Scientists Conference is a two-and-a-half day enhancement program that focuses on science innovation and world-class care. Cleveland Clinic physician and research scientist-led presentations and mentoring/coaching sessions provide students a unique opportunity to interface with our world renowned staff. An abstract poster competition provides students the opportunity to showcase their research. Our target audience includes underrepresented minority science, math and pre-med college students. It is designed to increase representation of American Indian, Black/African American, Hispanic/Latino, and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander physicians, research scientists, physician investigators and physician leaders. Applicants, who must be at least 18 years of age and currently enrolled in college majoring in math, science, or pre-med will be notified of acceptance via email by April 19, 2013. Research students interested in participating in the poster research scholarship competition must submit an abstract of their work by April 12, 2013. Applicants accepted to present their posters will be notified by email by April 19, 2013.
