The American Psychological Foundation provides financial support for innovative research and programs that enhance the power of psychology to elevate the human condition and advance human potential, both today and for generations to come. As part of this mission, APF is accepting applications for its APF Trauma Psychology Grant. Through the annual program, a single grant of up to $3,000 will be awarded in support innovative work aimed at alleviating trauma. To be eligible, applicants must be an early-career psychologist (no more than ten years postdoctoral); be affiliated with a nonprofit charitable, educational, or scientific institution, or governmental entity operating exclusively for charitable and educational purposes; have a demonstrated knowledge of trauma and trauma research; have demonstrated competence and capacity to execute the proposed work; and, if human participants are involved, have IRB approval from his/her host institution before funding can be awarded.

The purpose of this new funding opportunity is to expand on ACL's previous project entitled "Advancing Person-Centered, Trauma-Informed Supportive Services for Holocaust Survivors." This new project will seek to further develop innovative service approaches for aging Holocaust survivors and expand the national capacity to provide person-centered, trauma-informed supportive services to Holocaust survivors in the U.S., other older adult populations with a history of trauma and the family caregivers who support these individuals. With this expanded focus, the successfull grantee will be expected to build on previous advancements in this area to further embed person-centered, trauma-informed approaches at all levels of the aging services network (e.g., federal, state and local/community).

With this solicitation, NIJ seeks applications for funding of multidisciplinary research projects addressing three topics: 1) The impact of fatigue and stress on officer performance. 2) Enhancing strategies for officer interaction with mentally ill individuals. 3) Advancing Resiliency for the Forensic Workforce- Understanding the Impact and Management of Stress, Burnout, and Vicarious Trauma. This solicitation supports the U.S. Department of Justice’s priority of protecting officers and other public safety personnel. This solicitation also supports the following five objectives of the NIJ Safety, Health, and Wellness Strategic Research Plan 2016-2021 (August 2016): 1) Objective I.2: Support development, and promote strategies, policies, practices, and technologies that enhance the safety of criminal justice personnel. 2) Objective I.4: Develop policies, strategies, and technologies to promote safety in criminal justice interactions with the public. 3) Objective II.1: Promote research to improve the physical and mental health of individuals working in the criminal justice system. 4) Objective II.2: Study both trauma and suicide among criminal justice employees. 5) Objective II.4: Promote science-based tools and strategies to monitor physical and mental health.

The purpose of this solicitation is to promote multidisciplinary research in the area of safety, health, and wellness for the criminal justice community in support of the NIJ Safety, Health, and Wellness Strategic Research Plan 2016-2021.2 Categories: 1) Causes and effects of stress and trauma on: (a) law enforcement and corrections officers or (b) individuals in violent communities; 2) Impact of parental jail incarceration on children; and 3) The efficacy of services, strategies, policies, and processes within the criminal or juvenile justice system that serve as responses to children exposed to violence

The Practitioner-Researcher Partnership in Cognitive Behavioral Mentoring Program will support the development, implementation, and evaluation of innovative mentoring approaches for youth at high risk for delinquency/juvenile and criminal justice involvement or victimization and trauma. These mentoring approaches must incorporate practices that are informed by research on cognitive behavioral interventions and techniques. The program will fund a partnership between a practitioner/service provider and an evaluator/researcher. Practitioner/service provider applicants should develop and implement cognitive behavioral-informed practices within existing mentoring programs. These new or enhanced approaches should be piloted, manualized, and implemented with a diverse target population (defined as populations that differ demographically and/or in implementation setting). Researcher applicants should design a rigorous evaluation that examines the program design, implementation fidelity and process, and program impact. OJJDP expects the practitioner and researcher to work closely throughout the application and program development, implementation, and evaluation. OJJDP expects to make separate awards to support program development and service delivery (Category 1) and evaluation activities (Category 2). Authorizing Legislation: This program is authorized pursuant to the Department of Justice Appropriations Act, 2016 Pub. L. No. 114-113, 129 Stat. 2242, 2309.

The Society for the Study of Psychiatry and Culture announces its annual call for papers for the Charles Hughes Fellowship and the John Spiegel Fellowship in Cultural Psychiatry. The Charles Hughes Fellowship is an annual award presented to a graduate student who has an interest in and commitment to cultural psychiatry and mental health. The John Spiegel Fellowship is an annual award presented to a resident in clinical training who is dedicated to improving clinical care through culturally-informed practice.

The purpose of the NCCTS is to develop and maintain a collaborative network structure, support resource and policy development and dissemination, and coordinate the network's national child trauma education and training efforts. 

The Fiscal Year 2015 (FY15) Joint Program Committee 8/Clinical and Rehabilitative Medicine Research Program (JPC-8/CRMRP) Extremity Regeneration Technology/Therapeutic Development Award (ERTTDA) is intended to support the translation of promising preclinical findings into products focused on extremity regeneration. The focus is on bone and soft tissue reconstruction, limb and tissue salvage technologies, and regenerative medicine technologies for the treatment of trauma-induced damage.

The FY15 JPC-8/CRMRP ERI is intended to support Phase I, II, or pivotal clinical trial phase development projects focused on extremity regeneration. The focus is on bone and soft tissue reconstruction, limb and tissue salvage technologies, and regenerative medicine technologies for the treatment of trauma-induced damage.

The National Research Action Plan (NRAP) responding to Executive Order 13625, Improving Access to Mental Health Services for Veterans, Service Members, and Military Families (August 31, 2012), lays out a framework to ensure that Government funding agencies work together to further our knowledge and diagnostic/therapeutic capabilities with regard to post- traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), TBI, suicide, and related injuries by following longitudinal cohorts of Service members and Veterans. The DoD and VA ORD meet this directive through continued collaboration on and coordination of research efforts in the areas of TBI and PTSD. Additionally, recommendations from the DoD Blast Injury Research Program Coordinating Office's November 2015 International State of the Science Meeting (Does Repeated Blast- Related Trauma Contribute to the Development of Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE)?) included pursuing longitudinal studies to evaluate links between blast-related TBI with CTE. While a number of longitudinal efforts are ongoing, the DoD and VA seek to pursue a mechanism to collaboratively streamline and continue longitudinal studies of mTBI in active duty and Veteran populations. The objective of this effort is to solicit a single Consortium of a large longitudinal study and supporting sub-studies to analyze a large TBI cohort to include Service members, Veterans, and relevant populations.

The Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) within the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) announces the availability of funds for the fiscal year 2018 Direct Services for Survivors of Torture (DS SOT) grant program. The purpose of the DS SOT program is to increase access to strengths-based, trauma-informed services that assist survivors of torture and their families in the healing and recovery process. Under this grant program, direct services are provided to persons who have been tortured on foreign soil under the color of law. The program offers holistic and integrated services including medical, psychological, legal, and social work. All of these services are provided either directly by the grantee or indirectly through partner organizations or affiliates.

The MBRP Clinical Translational Research Award (CTRA) is intended to support clinical research projects that are likely to have a major impact on therapy by applying promising and well-founded laboratory, preclinical, or clinical research findings to the care of the burn-injured patient. Burns have comprised some 5%-20% of the casualties sustained in post-World War II conflicts.1 Potential future conflicts may cause a rise in the number of burn injuries sustained by Service members and the general public should those conflicts occur in rural areas, austere combat zones, and in mass casualty events, whereby medical resources are limited and/or access to medical care is delayed for hours, days, or weeks. In order to prepare the military and the Nation for such potential future conflicts, the FY19/20 MBRP is soliciting research to provide burn care solutions closer to the point of injury for the pre-hospital setting and for a prolonged field care scenario. The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) defines prolonged field care (PFC) as field trauma care extended beyond doctrinal timelines until the patient can be transported from the point of injury to an appropriate level of care. PFC has been identified as a high priority capability gap across the Army and other Services. Additional information regarding PFC can be found in the following articles, Prolonged Field Care: Beyond the 'Golden Hour'2 and Prolonged Field Care the New Normal says Army, MRMC Brass.3 Although encouraged, applications submitted to the FY19/20 MBRP CTRA are not required to address PFC. However, the proposed research must be relevant to active duty Service members, Veterans, military beneficiaries, and/or the American public.

To support Interact for Health's strategic priority of addressing the opioid epidemic, we are seeking grant applications from our 20-county service area to: * increase the number of people in our region receiving evidence-informed treatment for opioid use disorder, including medication-assisted treatment (MAT), and * increase the number of evidence-based, trauma-informed care services that identify and support children affected by the opioid epidemic

The overall objective is for the national network of UCEDDs to expand their Interdisciplinary training aimed at clinicians and other providers to include effective methods for differentially diagnosing mental illness in individuals with I/DD and evidence based treatment and interventions, such as SMART; person centered care, planning and approaches; behavioral therapy; and trauma informed care programs.

The Center(s) will conduct innovative and high quality research including: 1) trials testing the efficacy and effectiveness of clinical interventions; 2) longitudinal prospective studies examining the long term effects of specific and understudied types of maltreatment including abusive head trauma, medical child abuse and neglect, chronic sexual abuse; 3) studies examining the neurobiology of abuse and neglect and implications for health outcomes; and 4) studies testing the development of screening tools and clinical assessment measures for early identification and treatment of specific types of abuse and neglect to decrease morbidity and mortality and to identify potential comorbidities.

The Specialized Housing and Services for Victims of Human Trafficking program provides support to implement and provide housing and trauma-informed, victim-centered services to victims of human trafficking. Support is provided for capacity building, training and public awareness, improving performance and best measures, and collecting data. The application deadline is October 30, 2019.
