The program is a two-part initiative designed to foster new connections between scholars and journalists covering international affairs and, to that end, offers an interrelated set of awards, including programming grants for universities and fellowships for scholars in the humanities and social sciences who study religion in international contexts. To be eligible, applicants must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States as of the application deadline date; have a PhD degree that was conferred by the application deadline; and be able to attend and participate in two program-sponsored events.

Aligned with U.S. government's Economic Reform objective, this funding opportunity seeks to advance U.S. economic interests in the MENA region while improving MENA media and entertainment industry capacity to conclude business deals with the U.S. and other regions, produce innovative and creative content, build the capacity of MENA-based practitioners, and advance positive messaging of the U.S. It will also advance core NEA/AC focus areas by addressing some issues including but not limited to economic growth, participatory governance, entrepreneurship, women's empowerment and gender issues, open governance, anti-corruption, urban/rural divide, youth apathy, and civic engagement.- Countering Violent Extremism as a theme/focus is explicitly excluded from the objectives of this project.- Recognizing different levels of opportunity for advancement across the region, this project will prioritize enhancing the capacity of youth, women, and underserved communities as well as advancing the aspiring next generation of MENA media and entertainment practitioners.

The Office of Citizen Exchanges of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA, or "Bureau") announces an open competition for the FY 2018 Global Media Makers (GMM) program. GMM will connect approximately 12 to 18 mid-career film and television professionals ("Fellows") from approximately six to eight countries with leading U.S. entertainment and media professionals ("Mentors"). These Mentors will facilitate behind-the-scenes access, bolster participants' technical skills and creative content development, and build the foundations for lasting professional networks. This program will focus on film and television projects in development and match participants' areas of interest with Mentor expertise. Fellows will travel to Los Angeles, California for a five-to-six week residency to work on projects with Mentors and receive state-of-the-art-training and industry access to support conceptual development of independent, authentic, and compelling content for distribution in their home countries. Following the residency, Mentors will travel to a select number of the Fellows' countries, when possible, for continued creative consultation and engagement. Both Mentors and Fellows will mutually benefit from the extended creative and professional development, which will promote dialogue and understanding and lead to greater creative and entrepreneurial connections.

The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Consulate General in Chennai (PAS Chennai) seeks proposals for a project entitled "Women Shaping the Narrative in Media and Entertainment." Under this project, a grantee will conduct series of workshops and training programs on "Women First, Prosperity for All: Opportunities for Women in the Media and Entertainment Industry in South India." The workshop will highlight issues that preclude and challenge women from reaching their full potential in this industry and find practical solutions to address them. The purpose of the Media Program is to strengthen the civically relevant role of media in democratic processes in Ukraine, and expand citizens' access to quality information in order to counter malign influence and support European integration. USAID/Ukraine will provide up to $35,000,000, subject to the availability of funds, for the five-year Program, of which at least 50% should be sub-granted to Ukrainian organizations.

The U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City Public Affairs Section (PAS) is pleased to announce funding is available through the Public Diplomacy Federal Assistance Awards program to run the Journalism Club at the American Center in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

The Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs is seeking Statements of Interests (SOIs) from qualified organizations to implement a program to strengthen investigative journalism on the topic of corruption, corruption proceeds, and illicit financial transactions (i.e. money laundering) of such proceeds. The goal of this project is to improve the quality and quantity of investigative pieces exposing corruption and illicit finance, particularly as facilitators of transnational crime, and to increase awareness among justice sector actors and journalists of relevant information produced by each group (i.e. law enforcement alerts, tips, or actionable reporting), and identify and promote ways in which they might more effectively engage each other when possible. The project will aim to build this capacity in the Western Hemisphere. INL will review all SOIs for eligibility. Eligible SOIs will be subject to compliance of Federal and Bureau regulations and guidelines and may also be reviewed by the Office of the Legal Adviser or by other Department elements.Organizations may be recommended to submit a full proposal based on an evaluation of how the SOI best meets the solicitation review criteria, U.S. foreign policy objectives, and the priority needs of INL. The anticipated notification date is within five weeks of the closing date of this announcement.

The goal of the $1M Challenge Fund for Innovation in Journalism Education is to hack the journalism curriculum using customized versions of the teaching hospital model. The fund supports universities to partner with local news organizations, and explore new ways of providing information to their communities.

The U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor (DRL) announces an open competition for organizations interested in submitting applications for projects that support civil society and media in Ukraine.

The Neuffer Fellowship is designed for affiliated or freelance women journalists with at least three years of professional experience in journalism working in print, broadcast, or digital media. All nationalities are welcome to apply but non-native English speakers must have excellent written and verbal English skills in order to fully participate in and benefit from the program. The Fellow will complete research and coursework at MIT's Center for International Studies and journalism internships at The Boston Globe and The New York Times. The flexible structure of the program will provide the fellow with opportunities to pursue academic research and hone her reporting skills. Past fellows have taken advantage of opportunities to publish work under their byline through various media outlets.

The Course Hero-Woodrow Wilson Fellowship for Excellence in Teaching will support rising stars in the academy who love teaching, demonstrate excellence as educators, and are making their mark as exceptional researchers, poised to shape their fields. Designed for young scholars working towards tenure, the Course Hero-WW Fellowship is a "genius grant" that will emphasize the balance between scholarly excellence and commitment to teaching practice that draws on new approaches to pedagogy, creating a new level of engagement for students in and beyond the classroom. In short, Fellows will be emerging heroes in their fields, on a clear trajectory to become great college educators. In its inaugural year, the Course Hero-WW Fellowship will identify five outstanding junior faculty members. Fellows will receive a one-year grant of $40,000-approximately $30,000 to support the engagement of a student assistant and the balance to be used for research and travel support. Exceptional candidates teach in ways that build student confidence and mastery of a subject; encourage critical thinking; explore foundational concepts through the lens of broader themes and global events; promote the power of learning communities beyond the classroom; leverage technology to complement the classroom experience; consider and serve different learning styles; prepare students for lifelong learning; and can serve as replicable teaching models for other educators. Selection takes place in June 2018. The five Fellows will be invited to attend the Course Hero Education Summit in July 2018, where their Fellowships will be announced.

The U.S. Embassy in Moldova seeks to support independent voices in the Moldovan media landscape through the development of good quality local content production capacity in the Republic of Moldova in the interests of plurality of views and editorial independence. Specifically, this initiative will contribute to the practical training and education of young generation of producers, filmmakers, and TV content producers etc to improve their operational processes. The U.S. Embassy seeks a partner to implement the American Film Showcase, which will consist in organizing a one-week training program for Moldovan content producers. The grant recipient will be responsible for overall logistical coordination, including promotion of the event, selection of participants in consultation with the U.S. Embassy, travel and lodging for international participants, and venue rental.

The U.S. Embassy in Moldova seeks to support independent voices in the Moldovan media landscape through the development of good quality local production capacity in the Republic of Moldova in the interests of plurality of views and editorial independence. Specifically, this initiative seeks to support the development of the community of filmmakers and digital content creators who use their medium to present an alternative vision of Moldovan society and culture. The U.S. Embassy seeks a qualified implementing partner that will select, mentor and monitor a series of sub-grantees from the Moldovan creative community.The project will include two major components: 1. Planning and administration of sub-grantees applying for production related initiatives. The grant recipient must solicit applications from emerging or established Moldovan filmmakers, NGOs and creative studios based on an open competition, and select participants based on merit, potential and proposed project goals and outcome. 2. Mentorship of filmmakers, studios and NGOs that successfully pass the selection stage for film production, film festivals, and other non-news production projects. Grant recipient need to mentor the funds recipients in all the cycles of the projects: Planning, Script writing (where necessary), Pitching, Production, Distribution, Fundraising etc. The funding competitions to be announced by the grant recipient of this funding opportunity should be opened to individuals and entities from/registered in the Republic of Moldova and can include different formats, i.e. documentary, narrative, animation, or experimental formats. The themes and goals shall be discussed together with the U.S. Embassy team and the grant recipient.

A collaboration between the Miami University Humanities Center and the Miami University Libraries, the Digital Humanities Fellowship program aims to help identify and support digital humanities research.   One successful applicant will receive a $2,000 professional expense budget and substantial technical assistance from Miami University Libraries' Center for Digital Scholarship (CDS). The CDS will commit this staff support to the development of the project over the course of one year.  The nature of support will be based on specific project needs.

The U.S. Embassy to the Republic of Moldova seeks a qualified implementing organization that will manage the "Television Content Fund" program, which aims to increase the quality and quantity of locally produced content on Moldovan television through co-productions that expand investment and employment in the media space. The implementing organization will ensure the achievement of the program activities and objectives described in this Notice of Funding Opportunity and will be responsible for overall logistical coordination, management of funds, and coordination with the U.S. Embassy's Public Affairs Section on the initiatives within this funding award. Digital Humanities Advancement Grants (DHAG) support digital projects throughout their lifecycles, from early start-up phases through implementation and long-term sustainability. Experimentation, reuse, and extensibility are hallmarks of this program, leading to innovative work that can scale to enhance scholarly research, teaching, and public programming in the humanities. This program is offered twice per year. Proposals are welcome for digital initiatives in any area of the humanities. Through a special partnership with NEH, the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) anticipates providing additional funding to this program to encourage innovative collaborations between museum or library professionals and humanities professionals to advance preservation of, access to, use of, and engagement with digital collections and services. IMLS and NEH may jointly fund some DHAG projects that involve collaborations with museums and/or libraries. Digital Humanities Advancement Grants may involve * creating or enhancing experimental, computationally-based methods, techniques, or infrastructure that contribute to the humanities; * pursuing scholarship that examines the history, criticism, and philosophy of digital culture and its impact on society, or explores the philosophical or practical implications and impact of digital humanities in specific fields or disciplines; or * revitalizing and/or recovering existing digital projects that promise to contribute substantively to scholarship, teaching, or public knowledge of the humanities.

The Embassy of the United States in London invites eligible organizations to submit proposals to develop and implement a 10-day group exchange program to the United States for up to 10 UK youth educators to explore innovative approaches and best practices at teaching media literacy skills.

The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Rangoon announces an open competition for a cooperative agreement to develop and implement a six-day workshop (inclusive of arrival and departure days) in Rangoon on Media Literacy for the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI), pending the availability of funds. The program will bring together 50 to 60 YSEALI members from the eleven YSEALI member countries, namely, the ten ASEAN member states and Timor-Leste, who have backgrounds or current experience working in media, the opportunity to act as trainers or educators on the issue of media literacy, and leadership potential.
