The Office on Women's Health (OWH) provides national leadership and coordination to improve the health of women and girls through policy, education, and model programs. OWH works with numerous government agencies, non-profit organizations, consumer groups, and associations of health care professionals to advance this mission. OWH has a history of working to stop violence against women and girls in the United States and around the world through education, programs and policy. In past years, OWH has focused on how violence affects women with disabilities, men as partners in prevention of violence, and the role of colleges and universities in preventing sexual assault and violence against women. From 2010 â€" 2013, OWH implemented the Health and Wellness Initiative for Women Attending 3 Minority Institutions, which supported eight minority-serving institutions (two Hispanic-Serving Institutions, four Historically Black Colleges and Universities, and two Tribal Colleges and Universities) in conducting women’s health promotion activities, expanding health services and resources for women, and offering on-going HIV education and screening sessions. Additionally, each grantee created institutional policies and partnerships that addressed the prevention of violence against women.

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA), issued by the Office of Population Affairs (OPA), invites applications from public or private nonprofit entities to conduct research that will lead to feasible and effective strategies to increase access to quality Title X family planning services among hard to reach populations or provide family planning services in resource limited areas, as well as among individuals who misuse opioids and/or other substances, including those with substance use disorders (SUDs). Applicants should address only ONE priority area per application, but an entity may submit multiple applications. If an applicant submits more than one application for the same focus area, then only the last application submitted for that focus area will be considered. Priority areas for these research grants are as follows: 1) Innovative family planning clinical service delivery models that can be used to increase access to quality Title X family planning services among hard to reach populations or provide Title X family planning services in resource limited areas. 2) Meeting the family planning needs of women and men who misuse opioids and/or other substances, including those with substance use disorders (SUDs), so they can prevent or achieve pregnancy when desired. Applicants must clearly identify in the project narrative which focus area the proposal addresses.

USAID/Zambia's Stop GBV project is to build upon achievements under the prior STOP GBV projects in order to strengthen the environment for girls and women, boys and men, and members of key/priority populations, to live lives free of GBV and enjoy healthy-supportive, gender-equitable relationships.

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to invite SBIR applications to support and facilitate the development of new and/or improved contraceptive products for men and women.

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) seeks applications for the design and development of technologies to monitor health or deliver care in a real-time, accessible, effective, and minimally obtrusive way for older adults with a chronic heart, lung, blood, or sleep (HLBS) condition. These technologies may be novel sensor or monitoring systems, home-use point-of-care devices, home or mobile therapy or rehabilitation tools, or information systems and should have the goal of fostering healthy and independent living for aging adults with HLBS conditions. The development of such technologies should incorporate specific human factors for aging adults including disabilities, mild impairments, as well as chronic HLBS conditions. Technology usability for these populations must be incorporated early in the development of the design. Usability considerations include but are not limited to patient-facing displays, hearing and visual impairments, tactile limitations, literacy, and design preferences between men and women. These improvements in technology design could yield more accurate and earlier detection of changes that may interfere with healthy and independent living for older adults.

The National Institute of Mental Health invites applications to address impleMentation questions facing World Bank designated low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) in their efforts to scale up sustainable, evidence-based Mental health interventions and thereby eliminate the Mental health treatMent gap for children, woMen, and Men. The Mental health treatMent gap refers to the proportion of persons who need, but do not receive, care. In this funding opportunity announceMent (FOA), the terms "scale up" and "going to scale" refer to intentional efforts to maximize the positive impact of Mental health interventions successfully tested in experiMental studies in order to benefit Mental health care at the national level or at a regional level within a country, and to foster evidence-based Mental health policy and program developMent on a lasting basis. Each awarded project is to integrate impleMentation research on scaling up sustainable, evidence-based Mental health interventions (e.g., psychotherapeutic interventions, psychotropic medications, prevention, treatMent, rehabilitation) with research capacity-building activities within LMICs in any one of the following geographical regions: East Asia and the Pacific; Europe and Central Asia; Latin America and the Caribbean; Middle East and North Africa; South Asia; Sub-Saharan Africa.  As a group, awardees of this FOA and RFA-MH-16-350 will constitute a global network for Mental health impleMentation research in LMICs. The network will have capabilities for answering research questions about going to scale with Mental health interventions, sustaining high-quality Mental health care in resource-limited settings, and fostering evidence-based Mental health policy and program developMent.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) supports a variety of activities in health departments and organizations aimed at preventing and controlling cancer, the second leading cause of death in US men and women. Since the passage of the Cancer Registries Amendment Act in 1992, the National Program of Cancer Registries (NPCR) has collected data on cancer occurrence, extent, treatment and outcomes in over 45 states and jurisdictions, representing 96% of the US population. CDC's Division of Cancer Prevention and Control (DCPC) has supported successful partnerships with national organizations to define standardized practices in U.S. cancer surveillance and assure and complete, timely, and high-quality data for the official federal U.S. Cancer Statistics. The purpose of this funding opportunity is to build strong partnerships among national organizations involved directly in cancer surveillance in order to enhance the data quality and operational efficiency of CDC’s National Program of Cancer Registries (NPCR). This program has three essential components: 1) Education, Translation and Quality Control of cancer surveillance standards and best practices; 2) Cancer Staging Collaboration and Support; and 3) Standardization and Support for Laboratory and Biomarker Electronic Reporting. The overarching goal of this project is to collaboratively define and promote uniform standards in cancer staging, collection and reporting. Funded entities will identify specific enhancement needs of cancer registries and support cancer surveillance professionals, including reporters (e.g. facilities, labs), tumor registrars, and registries to submit high quality, standardized data via central cancer registries to NPCR. Relevant performance measures will be used to assess the recipients’ activities that enhance the standards, quality, and operations of NPCR cancer surveillance system.

In line with the GoSA She Conquers strategy/campaign, Implementation of targeted combination prevention solutions and approaches for (AGYW, young men and adult women) vulnerable high risk priority populations in workplace, schools and community. Provide evidence based interventions including demand creation for uptake of HTS, PrEP, VMMC, condom promotion and distribution, risk reduction, delaying sexual debut for (9-14 year old), family planning, STI, education and linkages to care and treatment. Behavioral interventions include school based (in &out of school), social mobilization and gender norms change and GBV prevention and parenting programs.

The primary purpose of this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is to support and facilitate multidisciplinary approaches towards the development of new and/or improved contraceptive methods for both men and women through the formation of a Contraceptive Research Development Center. This FOA also allows the inclusion of translational studies to facilitate the pre-clinical to clinical transition and increase the likelihood of clinical success. Additionally, it allows for behavioral and social science research projects to study contraceptive use and non-use of marketed products or products in clinical development. The Center will serve as a national resource for development of early stage investigators electing to pursue careers in contraceptive research.

This NOFO will support implementation and acceleration of comprehensive HIV prevention, care, and treatment programs for HIV/AIDS epidemic control in Fort Portal Region of Uganda. This will entail implementation of comprehensive HIV/AIDS services in line with the new WHO guidelines,including targeted HIV testing services (HTS) to find more people living with HIV (PLHIV), especially men and key and priority populations (KP/PP) through HIV care and treatment; TB/HIV prevention, diagnosis, and treatment;elimination of Mother-to-Child Transmission (eMTCT); Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC); services for orphans and vulnerable children (OVC); and associated laboratory and strategic information (SI) services through a health systems strengthening approach. Additionally, the recipient will work closely with the Ministry of Health (MOH) to strengthen the technical capacity of regional structures and District Health Teams (DHTs) for an effective public health decentralized HIV/AIDS response. Expected outcomes include improved access,coverage, and quality of HIV services ensuring 90% of PLHIV know their status;90% of people diagnosed with HIV infection receive antiretroviral therapy (ART); and 90% of those on treatment are virally suppressed.

This initiative seeks applications that propose to stimulate and expand research in the health of minority men. Specifically, this initiative is intended to: 1) enhance our understanding of the numerous factors (e.g., sociodemographic, community, societal, personal) influencing the health promoting behaviors of racial and ethnic minority males across the life cycle, and 2) encourage applications focusing on the development and testing of culturally and linguistically appropriate health-promoting interventions designed to reduce health disparities among racially and ethnically diverse males age 18 and older.

The goal of this NOFO is to provide comprehensive HIV services in Zambia to the general population in areas of high HIV prevalence; and priority populations (PPs), including people living with HIV (PLHIV), adolescent girls and young women (AGYW), men, couples, pregnant women, prisoners, and key populations (KPs). Services to be provided will include: community-based HIV testing services (HTS); HIV prevention services (risk reduction counseling,gender norms, and links to post gender-based violence (GBV) care); TB prevention and treatment, and community based antiretroviral therapy (ART). These services will be linked with community health care facilities. The recipient(s) will work closely with the relevant District Medical Offices (DMOs) selected in consultation with CDC Zambia. To ensure efficiencies and program effectiveness, this NOFO will support activities that complement activities supported by the Zambian government and partners with full transition to the local districts by the end of year five.
