This initiative will fund demonstration research projects that implement Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for opioid use disorder in primary care practices in rural areas of the United States.In addition to expanding access to this evidence-based therapy in underserved communities, this initiative will discover and test solutions to overcoming known barriers to implementation of MAT in primary care and create training and implementation resources to support future efforts to expand access to MAT.

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to encourage practice-based research aimed at testing the effectiveness of developmentally-focused theory-based efficacious prevention interventions which may impact mental health outcomes, including suicide behaviors and serious mental illness. The research should test prevention approaches that are both scalable and sustainable for implementation in pediatric-serving primary care settings, with an emphasis on populations experiencing mental health disparities. This FOA seeks to supports clinical trials to establish the effectiveness of scalable prevention interventions when implemented using available resources within pediatric-serving primary care settings.

The purposes of the NCIPC extramural violence prevention research program are to: Build the scientific base for the prevention of violence by helping to expand and advance our understanding of the primary prevention of interpersonal and self-directed violence. Encourage professionals from a wide spectrum of disciplines of epidemiology, behavioral and social sciences, medicine, biostatistics, public health, health economics, law, and criminal justice to perform research in order to prevent violence more effectively. Encourage investigators to propose research that involves the development and testing of primary prevention strategies as well as research on methods to enhance the adoption and maintenance of effective strategies among individuals, organizations, or communities.

This announcement solicits applications for Mental Health Service Expansion ¿ Behavioral Health Integration (BHI).  The goal of the fiscal year (FY) 2014 BHI funding is to increase the coordination, collaboration, and integration of primary and behavioral health care services[1] at existing health centers funded under Section 330 of the Public Health Service Act.  Specifically, this funding opportunity will: Increase access to behavioral health services, and Increase the number of health centers with integrated primary care and behavioral health models of care. Applicants must demonstrate a high level of need for behavioral health services in their community/target population, a sound proposal to meet this need, and readiness to rapidly implement the proposal.  In addition, applicants must show that BHI grant funds will increase access to comprehensive, culturally competent, collaborative, and integrated behavioral health services.  Applicants are expected to explain how services will be made available to all individuals in the service area while maximizing collaboration with existing behavioral health providers in the community. [1]For the purpose of this funding opportunity, behavioral health includes both substance use and mental health disorders.

The purpose of this announcement is to support research to rigorously evaluate the effectiveness of primary prevention strategies for the perpetration of sexual violence. The National Center for Injury Prevention and Control's research priorities for sexual violence prevention include evaluating the efficacy and effectiveness of programs, strategies, and policies across all levels of the social ecology to prevent and interrupt the development of sexual violence perpetration. In addition, the Center's research priorities highlight the need to identify effective programs, strategies, and policies that might prevent multiple types of violence concurrently, including sexual violence, intimate partner violence, and other forms of violence, and evaluating the economic efficiency of such programs, strategies and policies. Research funded under this announcement will address these priorities by rigorously evaluating programs, strategies, or policies for their impact on rates of sexual violence perpetration in one of two areas: (a) strategies that engage boys and men, or (b) structural, environmental, and/or policy interventions. Although the primary focus of research conducted with these funds should be on reducing sexual violence perpetration, the inclusion of other violence-related outcomes (e.g., dating/intimate partner violence) is also encouraged.

Research proposals are sought from educational institutions, nonprofit organizations, and commercial organizations for research in materials sciences; ballistics and aeromechanics sciences; information sciences; human sciences; survivability, lethality, and vulnerability analysis and assessment; chemistry; electronics; physics; environmental sciences; life sciences; mechanical sciences, mathematical sciences, computing sciences and network sciences. Proposals will be evaluated only if they are for scientific study and experimentation directed toward advancing the state of the art or increasing knowledge and understanding. ARO has primary responsibility for ARL's extramural basic research programs, with specific research interests as described in Part II.A.2. The ARL Directorates, while having primary responsibility for ARL's in-house research programs, also manage select extramural basic research programs. The research interests of the Directorates are described in Part II.A.1. Although ARL Directorates will consider funding proposals for extramural research programs, they can fund only a modest number of proposals in a single fiscal year.

The purpose of this program is to provide funding to states to enhance/expand their treatment service systems to increase capacity and provide accessible, effective, comprehensive, coordinated care, and evidence-based medication assisted treatment (MAT) and recovery support services to individuals with opioid use disorders seeking or receiving MAT. As a result of this program, SAMHSA seeks to: 1) increase the number of individuals receiving MAT services with pharmacotherapies approved by the FDA for the treatment of opioid use disorders; 2) increase the number of individuals receiving integrated care; and 3) decrease illicit drug use at 6-months follow-up. For the purpose of this RFA, integrated care is defined as the organized delivery and/or coordination of medical, behavioral or social and recovery support services provided to individual patients in order to produce better overall health outcomes for people that may have multiple healthcare needs. MAT is defined as the use of FDA-approved opioid agonist medications (e.g., methadone, buprenorphine products including buprenorphine/naloxone combination formulations and buprenorphine mono-product formulations) for the maintenance treatment of opioid use disorder and opioid antagonist medication (e.g., naltrexone products including extended-release and oral formulations) to prevent relapse to opioid use. MAT includes screening, assessment (which includes determination of severity of opioid use disorder, including presence of physical dependence and appropriateness for MAT) and case management. MAT is to be provided in combination with comprehensive substance use disorder treatment, including but not limited to: counseling, behavioral therapies and when needed pharmacotherapy for co-occurring alcohol use disorder. MAT is to be provided in a clinically driven, person-centered and individualized setting. The National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC) is soliciting investigator-initiated research that will help expand and advance knowledge in three areas: 1) how best to disseminate, implement, and translate evidence-based primary prevention strategies, programs, and policies designed to reduce youth violence; 2) what works to prevent violence by rigorously evaluating primary prevention strategies, programs, and policies; and 3) research to determine ways to effectively prevent serious and lethal interpersonal or self-directed violence.

This notice announces the opportunity to apply for funding under the Innovations in Care Coordination for Children and Youth with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and Other Developmental Disabilities (DD) Program. The purpose of this program is to build on past HRSA programs (HRSA-16-048 and HRSA-13-207) to improve access to coordinated and integrated care for children with, or at risk for, ASD/DD and their families in medically underserved areas and populations.[1],[2] The purpose and objectives of this program will be accomplished by implementing the following two strategies: Family Navigation - Increasing family navigation services to improve communication between families and primary and specialty providers; link children with/at risk for ASD/DD to diagnostic evaluations, ASD/DD services, and community resources; and provide education to families of children with/at risk for ASD/DD to improve self-efficacy in navigating the system of care for children with/at risk for ASD/DD; and Provider Education - Providing education, training, and technical assistance to providers, and community based-organizations providing services to ASD/DD on improving care for children with/at risk for ASD/DD through a learning community. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) invites applications for Silvio O. Conte Digestive Diseases Research Core Centers (DDRCCs). The DDRCCs are part of an integrated program of digestive and liver diseases research support provided by the NIDDK. The purpose of this Centers program is to bring together basic and clinical investigators as a means to enhance communication, collaboration, and effectiveness of ongoing research related to digestive and/or liver diseases. DDRCCs are based on the core concept, whereby shared resources aimed at fostering productivity, synergy, and new research ideas among the funded investigators are supported in a cost-effective manner. Each proposed DDRCC must be organized around a central theme that reflects the focus of the digestive or liver diseases research of the Center members. Through this APS, USAID is soliciting concept notes that propose innovative approaches, such as eHealth and mHealth, to assist the Government of Bangladesh's (GOB) public health system with its unfinished agenda for Ending Preventable Child and Maternal Deaths (EPCMD).
