This notice solicits applications for the Evidence-Based Tele-Behavioral Health Network Program (EB-THNP). The two-fold purpose of this program is to use telehealth networks to increase access to behavioral health care services in rural and frontier communities and to conduct evaluations of those efforts to establish an evidence-base for assessing the effectiveness of tele-behavioral health care for patients, providers, and payers. Under the 2016 - 2020 Country Development Cooperation Strategy (CDCS), USAID/Zimbabwe anticipates awarding a five-year $25 million cooperative agreement to provide technical assistance to the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MOHCC) at the national level and in Manicaland province. This award will be made through a full and open competition, under which any type of organization is eligible to apply. Building on the achievements of current USAID-supported activities, the purpose of the activity is improved maternal, youth, and child health and survival in beneficiary communities and populations. This activity will improve the health of women, youth, and children in Manicaland by strengthening maternal, newborn, child health and family planning (integrated MNCH-FP) service delivery throughout the continuum of care, i.e., from the home, to the community, to the primary care facility, and to the tertiary referral hospital. Continuum of care refers to a concept involving a system that guides and tracks patients over time through a comprehensive array of health services spanning all levels and intensity of care. Integrated MNCH-FP service delivery refers to combining together MNCH and FP health services in order to expand access to care, increase efficiencies, and improve health outcomes. The activity will also increase access to a broader range of family planning methods through outreach services at the national level.

Policies for Action was created to help build the evidence base for policies that can help build a Culture of Health. The foundation is interested in learning how national, state, or local policies can promote lifelong health and health equity for individuals, families, and communities; as well as what enabling factors promote the adoption and spread of good policies. Grants of up to $250,000 will be awarded for projects that investigate public and private policies from a range of political ideologies and perspectives. By policies, the foundation means not just laws and regulations at the local, state, and federal level, but also private sector practices, such as those affecting workplaces, neighborhood and community development, and family stability. Both public and private sector policies and practices can significantly impact a person's health. These policies and practices might be related to: health care; public health; education and training; housing and community development; civil rights; transportation, and planning; labor and employment; taxes and spending.

Health care professionals seek to ensure access to health care services in a manner that meets the standards set out in the Institute for Healthcare Improvement's Triple Aim (http://www.ihi.org/Engage/Initiatives/TripleAim/Pages/default.aspx): by improving the patient experience of care, improving the health of populations, and reducing the per capita cost of health care. The transportation sector seeks to improve mobility and access for many trip purposes, including work, shopping, social, and, importantly, health care. Effective transportation to health care services addresses the patient experience in traveling to and from health care and helps to ensure patient access to services that lead to better health outcomes.

The purpose of this notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) is to announce the availability of supplemental funding for the organizations that were previously awarded funding under CDC-RFA-OT18-1802: "Preventive Health and Health Services - Strengthening Public Health Systems and Services through National Partnerships to Improve and Protect the Nation's Health - financed in part by Prevention and Public Health Funds (PPHF)." "The Corporation for National and Community Service has released a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) of up to $500,000 for the 2018 Community Conversations Research competition. The broad focus of the competition is to engage communities in conversations about their civic health using participatory research approaches to facilitate civic engagement and strengthen community capacity to address local issues, both of which are central to CNCS's mission.This research competition will award funds to institutions of higher education to support academics and applied researchers who work with and in local communities to use a participatory research approach. CNCS seeks to support participatory research in three types of communities, with equal priority: communities that are already working collaboratively to tackle a locally identified issue; communities that have experienced a disaster; and communities in social crisis. The deadline for applications will be on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 by 5 p.m. Eastern Time. Successful applicants will receive awards of between $50,000 and $100,000 per year for up to 2 years. "

Established in 1931, the Rockwell Fund seeks to promote positive community change in the greater Houston area. To that end, the fund is accepting applications from community-based providers and health centers working to increase the availability of and access to physical and behavioral healthcare for uninsured and underinsured populations; advance an innovative approach to community health; address the social determinants of health; and/or leverage existing resources to expand their reach. For organizations or programs focused on substance abuse, the fund is interested in interventions that target the co-occurring conditions of mental health and substance abuse.

The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), in partnership with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is soliciting cooperative agreement applications with the intention of ultimately funding up to three research sites and one data coordinating center (DCC) to participate in the 'HEALing Communities Study': Developing and Testing an Integrated Approach to Address the Opioid Crisis. The HEALing Communities Study will test the immediate impact of implementing an integrated set of evidence-based interventions across healthcare, behavioral health, justice, and other community-based settings to prevent and treat opioid misuse and Opioid Use Disorders (OUD) within highly affected communities. Highly affected communities of interest could include counties or cities within states that are burdened with higher than average rates of overdose mortality and opioid-related morbidity, and other complications. Combined, all the communities participating in a single research site application must demonstrate having experienced at least 150 opioid related overdose fatalities in the past year, based on the most recent complete year of data available (15% of these deaths must be in rural communities). States within the top third for age-adjusted drug overdose death rates in 2016, (per the Centers for Disease Control) are of special interest. The integrated set of evidence-based prevention and treatment interventions should be designed to achieve the following goals: reduce overdose fatalities, and events; decrease the incidence of OUD; and increase the number of individuals receiving medication-assisted treatment, retained in treatment beyond 6 months, and receiving recovery support services compared to baseline.

To expand Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response (IDSR) to the community level. Currently IDSR surveillance with documentation and reporting exist from National, Regional, District to Health Zones. The last level is at the Health Zone or Community Health Post Level. Expansion of IDSR beyond the health zone level will allow documentation and reporting of IDSR priority diseases and specific health events from specific communities or villages by village volunteers or village alert committees (CVACs).

Office of Research on Women's Health (ORWH) is updating the trans-NIH Strategic Plan for Women's Health Research. NIH is publishing this Notice to solicit input from the basic, clinical and translational scientists as well as advocacy and patient communities on topics under consideration for the next strategic plan. ORWH was established in the Office of the NIH Director by the Public Health Service Act to (a) identify projects and multidisciplinary research related to women's health; (b) encourage research on sex differences and promote coordination among research entities; (c) assist NIH efforts to include women as subjects in clinical research; and (d) develop opportunities and support for women in biomedical careers. These efforts will continue to be part of the office's core mission. This notice solicits applications for the FY 2018 Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP) hereinafter referred to as the "National HCOP Academies." The Paralyzed Veterans of America Education Foundation, a grantmaking organization of Paralyzed Veterans of America, seeks to fund innovative educational projects that enhance the quality of life of individuals with spinal cord injury or disease (SCI/D) and/or that increase the knowledge and effectiveness of health professionals in the SCI/D community.
