The Center to Reduce Cancer Health Disparities (CRCHD) of the National Cancer Institute (NCI), in partnership with the NCI Office of Cancer Centers (OCC), announces this opportunity to compete for administrative supplements to Cancer Center Support Grants (CCSGs; P30s) for NCI-designated Cancer Centers (CCs) to each recruit a Community Health Educator (CHE). The purpose of this administrative supplement funding opportunity is to support a strengthening of community outreach capacity by working through the National Outreach Network (NON). It is expected that NON CHEs, located at NCI-designated CCs, will enhance the development and dissemination of culturally appropriate, evidence-based cancer information to members of underserved communities including rural and racial/ethnic populations (e.g., African American/Black, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian, Hispanic/Latino, Native Hawaiian/Other Pacific Islander) in a way that is tailored to their specific needs.

The purpose of the NCI Predoctoral to Postdoctoral Fellow Transition Award (F99/K00) is to encourage and retain outstanding graduate students recognized by their institutions for their high potential and strong interest in pursuing careers as independent cancer researchers. The award will facilitate the transition of talented graduate students into successful cancer research postdoctoral appointments, and provide opportunities for career development activities relevant to their long-term career goals of becoming independent cancer researchers.

Through its fellowship programme, UICC aims to support health workers and cancer professionals focussing on cancer control, including cancer prevention, early detection, epidemiology, implementation and translational research, cancer treatment (surgery, radio- and chemotherapy), multidisciplinary patient care, rehabilitation, survivorship and palliative care. In 2018 there are 3 programmes available, the UICC Technical Fellowships (UICC-TF)  which provides the learning of new knowledge and skills in cancer control through a one month visit to an institution abroad, the YY study grants allow established cancer professionals to visit an institution abroad for 3 months to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing, and Bourses pour l'Afrique Francophone for cancer professionals in Francophone Africa.

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is a part of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) initiative intended to support Cancer Prevention Clinical Trials Network (CP-CTNet). The goals for the CP-CTNet include: Design and conduct early phase clinical trials to assess the safety, tolerability, and cancer preventive potential of agents and interventions of varying classes, many of which target molecules or processes known to be important during carcinogenesis. These trials include phase 0 (microdosing), phase I (dose-finding), and phase II (preliminary efficacy) clinical trials; Characterization of the effects of these agents and interventions on their molecular targets, as well as on other biological events associated with cancer development (such as cell proliferation, apoptosis, growth factor expression, oncogene expression, immune response) and correlation of these effects with clinical endpoints. Development of further scientific insights into the mechanisms of cancer prevention by the agents examined, including the development of novel potential markers as determinants of response.

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is associated with the Beau Biden Cancer MoonshotSM Initiative that is intended to accelerate cancer research. The purpose of this FOA is to increase case ascertainment and appropriate follow-up care, optimizing the delivery of evidence-based healthcare for individuals at high risk of cancer due to an inherited genetic susceptibility.

Eligibility Requirements: Applicants of non-Japanese nationality; a Doctorate degree; must be 49 years old or under;  not have been in Japan previously; have firm positions and professions in their home nations; etc. Host Institution In Japan: Applicants are free to select host institutions (university research laboratories, national research institutions or the corresponding facilities of private industry) Fellowship Details: Stipend for research and stay, Insurance, Air transportation (a round-trip air ticket to/from Tokyo) and Lump sum on arrival Period & Number of Fellowships: For a period of from three to six months; the number of fellowships is about 20 persons each year.

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to invite Cooperative Agreement applications to develop research resources that will encourage a consensus on how Quantitative Imaging (QI) methods are optimized to improve the quality of imaging results for co-clinical trials. The scientific goals of this FOA are to: (a) perform the appropriate optimization of the pre-clinical quantitative imaging methods, (b) implement the optimized methods in the co-clinical trial, and finally (c) populate a web-accessible research resource with all the data, methods, workflow documentation, and results collected from the co-clinical investigations. Co-clinical trials are defined in this FOA as investigations in patients and in parallel (or sequentially) in mouse or human-in-mouse models of cancer that mirror the genetics and biology of the patients malignancies or pre-cancerous lesions. The co-clinical trial should include either (a) a therapeutic goal, such as the prediction, staging, and/or measurement of tumor response to therapies, or (b) a screening and early detection or a cancer risk stratification goal for lethal cancer versus non-lethal disease. Applicants are encouraged to organize multi-disciplinary teams with experience in mouse models research, human investigations, imaging platforms, QI methods, decision support software and informatics to populate the research resource.

To advance this mission, the foundation is accepting applications for its LRF Clinical Investigator Career Development Award program, which is designed to support physician-investigators at the level of advanced fellow or junior faculty member who will contribute to the development of new lymphoma therapies and diagnostic tools. The goal of the program is to prepare physician-investigators to design and administer clinical research studies in lymphoma and assume primary responsibilities for clinical research, protocol writing, Institutional Review Board (IRB) submission, and publication.

Research Approach: Proposed research ideas are required to address one or more of the FY18 PCRP Overarching Challenges. The scientific rationale and experimental methodology should demonstrate in-depth analysis of the research problem presented and should focus on reducing and ultimately eliminating disparities in prostate cancer incidence, morbidity, and mortality. The proposal must explicitly state how the proposed research is related to a health disparity area within an affected population or community. The PCRP is interested in research that addresses all different aspects that contribute to health disparity in prostate cancer, including, but not limited to, social, cultural, and/or biological contributors. The feasibility of the research design and methods should be well defined, and a clear plan should be articulated as to how the proposed goals of the project can be achieved. The inclusion of preliminary data relevant to prostate cancer and the proposed project is encouraged but not required. Any preliminary data provided should be from the PI, Mentor(s), or member(s) of the collaborating team. Additionally, required resources should be identified and supported through documentation.

To that end, grants of up to $130,000 over two years will be awarded to junior faculty researchers for innovative translational research projects in hematology/oncology (with a focus on hematologic malignancies) that can be either based around a clinical trial with strong correlative science or laboratory investigation.

To be eligible, principal investigators and co-PIs must have an earned doctorate in an academic discipline or professional field, or appropriate experience in an education research-related profession. In addition, the PI must be affiliated with a college, university, school district, nonprofit research facility, or nonprofit cultural institution that is willing to serve as the administering organization if the grant is awarded. The foundation does not award grants directly to individuals.

A single two-year grant of up to $100,000 will be awarded to an established investigator working on a novel approach in gastric cancer research, including the fields of gastric mucosal cell biology, regeneration and regulation of cell growth (not as they relate to peptic ulcer disease or repair), inflammation (including Helicobacter pylori) as precancerous lesions, genetics of gastric carcinoma, oncogenes in gastric epithelial malignancies, epidemiology of gastric cancer, etiology of gastric epithelial malignancies, or clinical research in the diagnosis or treatment of gastric carcinoma.

 The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA), issued by the National Cancer Institute (NCI), is to support the Cooperative Human Tissue Network (CHTN). The goal for CHTN is to collect and distribute to investigators high quality human tissue specimens to facilitate basic and early translational cancer research. For example, such specimens may be needed for scientific discovery and the development of various molecular diagnostic tests, prognostic or predictive assays. The CHTN is designed as a unique biospecimen resource in that it is based on prospective collection and distribution of samples upon specific investigators' requests. Samples to be collected from patients include pre-cancerous, cancerous, and benign neoplastic tissues, as well as specimens corresponding to non-neoplastic diseases and uninvolved tissues.

The reproducibility and comparability of research on dietary supplements is enhanced by rigorous analytical characterization of key experimental materials and the publication of validated analytical methods that accurately and precisely characterized and quantify constituents in dietary supplement ingredients and products. This FOA builds on existing NIH awards to support the performance and publication of formal single-laboratory validation studies of quantitative analytical methods. The methods proposed for validation must be used to identify and quantify dietary supplement-relevant chemical constituents (i.e., active or marker chemical compounds, adulterants, contaminants) or their metabolites in experimental reagents, raw materials, and/or clinical specimens (e.g., urine or plasma samples). Methods must have been developed or utilized in fulfillment of the active parent grant's specific aims. Candidate constituents for quantitative method validation studies include (but are not limited to): phytochemicals, nutrients, and potentially deleterious substances such as pesticides and mycotoxins. Multi-laboratory validation studies will not be supported through this FOA.

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to incentivize collaborative, multidisciplinary research across a broad area of challenging topics in basic cancer biology. These supplement applications must propose a collaboration between at least two researchers, one being the PI of the parent NCI grant. Awarded supplements will leverage and extend currently funded cancer research in the parent grant.
