    Woman to Woman, a program of the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance, pairs gynecologic cancer patients with trained survivor-volunteers who provide one-on-one emotional support and mentoring to women when they need it most. From the moment of diagnosis through the end of treatment, Woman to Woman survivor-volunteers have helped hundreds of women and their families cope with gynecologic cancer. Through the program, one-year grants of either $60,000 (for hospital-based programs) or $30,000 (for community-based organizations) will be awarded to institutions with a large volume of gynecologic cancer patients and a need to provide this type of support to patients. Grants are provided to cover the cost of a part-time program coordinator's salary (can be a new hire or a reassignment), program costs, and a patient fund (no indirect costs allowed). It is expected that each Woman to Woman program will become self-sustaining after the first year. OCRFA will provide all program materials for patients, as well as technical assistance and support, for the life of the program (even after the end of the grant period). Institutions and organizations also will have access to a dedicated section of the Woman to Woman website (under construction) featuring tools designed to assist them in the development and administration of new programs.

    The goal of this acquisition is to recruit health plan members from selected integrated health care systems (IHCS) into a complex, intensive, prospective cohort study, collect serial biospecimens and longitudinal data, and follow participants for disease outcomes, with a primary focus on cancer. The IHCS sites shall work with the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and others such as NCI third party contractors (support service and study information technology [IT] platform contractors), processing lab, and the NCI central repository. The NCI support services contractor (a separate contract) will primarily provide support for the study fieldwork activities including providing support for provision of procedures and protocols, staff training (as required) at study sites, follow-up and tracing of participants who have left the IHCS's health plan and assist with data and specimen access. The study IT platform contractor (a separate contract) will provide a tiered-access study IT platform with integrated systems for study operations, participant data collection, study research data, study research data and specimen request and approval.

    The “Partner Actions to Improve Oral Health” program is a five-year competitive renewal to continue CDC investment in and support of oral health promotion and disease prevention programs. The purpose is to build the strength and effectiveness of state oral health programs recipients to prevent and control oral diseases and related conditions. Under component 1, recipient will work with all NOFO DP18-1810 funded programs to provide technical assistance, training, and capacity building resources for: 1) the Basic Screening Survey, 2) evidence-based oral health strategies (i.e., school sealant programs and community water fluoridation) and infection prevention and control practices, 3) oral health surveillance, 4) evaluation of oral health programs, and 5) reports on the oral health program capacity for all 50 states (CDC-funded and non-funded states). Under component 2, recipient will work with six programs selected NOFO DP18-1810 to integrate oral health with other chronic disease programs (i.e., medical/dental integration). Recipient will provide technical assistance for medical/dental integration programs, and compile examples of effective medical/dental integration programs and strategies. The proposed program will replace and build upon FOA 13-1313 [FY2013-FY2018]. Successful implementation and execution of the NOFO strategies will result in decreases in dental caries, oral health disparities, and co-morbid chronic diseases.

    The Medical Research Fellows Program enables students to be immersed in a high-impact, intensive research experience at a critical time in their professional education, before they make plans for residency or postdoctoral training. Unique aspects of the program include national and regional professional development activities, mentorship by physician-scientists, interaction with HHMI investigators, and integration into a community of like-minded peers. Each student selects and works with a mentor to develop a basic, translational, or applied biomedical research proposal.     Applicants for the funds may be students or faculty. The project, program, or entrepreneurial idea must be created by, led by or benefit women. Grants are awarded in values of $2500 to $20,000. While we prefer the base grant to be $5,000, we are considering a limited number of $2500 which will be required to show high impact. These applicants will be considered on a case-by-case basis. The grants must be submitted online via the link below and must include a 2-minute video. Applicants will be narrowed to a pool of 10-15 finalists by our M.I.A.M.I. WOMEN Grants Committee. This committee will review applications; contact applicants if additional information is required, and present the finalists to the M.I.A.M.I. WOMEN Steering Committee and Development Staff. Grant deadline for this year is Feb. 9, 2018. These finalists will perform in a fast-pitch style Hawk Tank event on April 11, 2018. Finalists will be offered fast-pitch training courtesy of the Farmers School of Business - school of Entrepreneurship, and will receive coaching and support. They will then pitch their idea in 5 minutes or less on April 11, 2018 at the event. Giving Circle members are the voters who will determine winners. Absentee voters will be given the option to vote online. Winners will be announced that night or the next day at the Symposium, to be determined.

    The purpose of the NLA Junior Faculty Research is to encourage scholarly advancement of Junior Faculty in the pursuit of a career related to hyperlipidemia and other lipid disorders in humans. The NLA will fund eligible institutions to provide $70,000 per year in salary support for those actively involved in clinical and/or basic science that provides promise of developing new information in fields of study that could advance the diagnosis and management of lipid disorders such as biochemistry, physiology, or genetics as well as interventions that improve therapy. The institutions eligible shall be nonprofit and offer an environment that would logically support a young faculty member with appropriate equipment, space and experienced faculty for proposed studies. The proposal will identify a specific candidate with training and strong signs of early success in an appropriate area of research and with a plan for developing appropriate experiments or clinical studies. To be eligible, an applicant is expected to hold or be eligible for a doctoral level degree (PhD, PharmD or MD) prior to the date of the scheduled award. There must be a record of accomplishment in a relevant research area as manifest by publications or a PhD thesis of high quality. The application for the Basic Science Award may focus on any aspect of lipid metabolism that has relevance to human disease. This may include experiments at the laboratory bench involving structural chemistry, biochemistry, physiology or genetics.

    The purpose of the NCI Pathway to Independence Award for Outstanding Early Stage Postdoctoral Fellows (K99/R00) program is to increase and maintain a strong cohort of new and talented, NCI-supported, independent investigators. Conquer Cancer Foundation Invites Applications for Oncology Young Investigator Award | RFPs | PND - 0 views

    To that end, CCF is accepting applications for its Global Oncology Young Investigator Award. Through the program, a single grant of up to $50,000 will be awarded to an early-career investigator in support of global oncology research. "Global oncology" as defined by the foundation implies an approach to the practice of oncology that acknowledges the reality of limited resources in most parts of the world. Projects therefore need to be a research exercise - identifying training models, researching their outcomes, analyzing the outcomes of those models to select the most effective curriculum, and/or researching the cost of creating sustainable models where they do not exist.
