Partner Actions to Improve Oral Health Outcomes - 0 views

    The “Partner Actions to Improve Oral Health” program is a five-year competitive renewal to continue CDC investment in and support of oral health promotion and disease prevention programs. The purpose is to build the strength and effectiveness of state oral health programs recipients to prevent and control oral diseases and related conditions. Under component 1, recipient will work with all NOFO DP18-1810 funded programs to provide technical assistance, training, and capacity building resources for: 1) the Basic Screening Survey, 2) evidence-based oral health strategies (i.e., school sealant programs and community water fluoridation) and infection prevention and control practices, 3) oral health surveillance, 4) evaluation of oral health programs, and 5) reports on the oral health program capacity for all 50 states (CDC-funded and non-funded states). Under component 2, recipient will work with six programs selected NOFO DP18-1810 to integrate oral health with other chronic disease programs (i.e., medical/dental integration). Recipient will provide technical assistance for medical/dental integration programs, and compile examples of effective medical/dental integration programs and strategies. The proposed program will replace and build upon FOA 13-1313 [FY2013-FY2018]. Successful implementation and execution of the NOFO strategies will result in decreases in dental caries, oral health disparities, and co-morbid chronic diseases.

    This funding opportunity seeks to support the Comprehensive Partnerships to Advance Cancer Health Equity (CPACHE) Program. The CPACHE Program develops and maintains comprehensive, long-term, and mutually beneficial partnerships between institutions serving underserved health disparity population and underrepresented students (ISUPSs) and NCI-designated Cancer Centers (CCs). The program aims to achieve a stronger national cancer program and address challenges in cancer and cancer disparities research, education and outreach, as well as their impact on underserved populations. The institutions in each partnership are expected to work collaboratively to: 1) increase the cancer research and cancer research education capacity of the ISUPSs; 2) increase the number of students and investigators from underrepresented populations engaged in cancer research; 3) improve the effectiveness of CCs in developing and sustaining research programs focused on cancer health disparities and increase the number of investigators and students conducting cancer health disparities research; and 4) develop and implement cancer-related activities that benefit the surrounding underserved communities.

Utilizing Cohort Studies to Address Health Outcomes in Cancer Survivors (UG3/UH3 Clinic... - 0 views

    Through this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA), the NCI invites applications to support research in new and innovative cohort studies that identify clinical, lifestyle, genomic, and other factors that affect health outcomes (e.g., morbidity, mortality, quality of life, physical, social, and psychological outcomes) in cancer survivors. This RFA supports research that requires the creation of a new prospective cohort study of cancer survivors that addresses a gap in knowledge pertaining to the health of cancer survivors. Proposals must identify the scientific gap that the study addresses, which may include emerging treatments, less common cancer sites, and/or other understudied populations of cancer survivors with disparities. Sample size and proposed data collection must be driven by the scientific questions proposed and include information from the following five domains: 1) disease characteristics (e.g., type, stage), 2) individual survivor characteristics (e.g., comorbidities, SES, social connections, access to care measures), 3) treatment, treatment-related effects, and follow-up care (e.g. dose, adverse events, palliative care), 4) behavioral and lifestyle factors (e.g., diet, physical activity) and 5) quality of life outcomes (health related quality of life). These domains may represent exposures and/or outcomes, depending on the research questions, and should be measured at multiple timepoints, when appropriate. The UG3 Planning-Exploratory Phase focused on recruitment and data collection/utilization, and the UH3 Implementation Phase focused on completing the research agenda. Milestones to be accomplished in the UG3 phase for transition to the UH3 will be proposed by the PI, with approval by NCI, and must include a timeline for recruitment and show feasibility for data collection and analysis. Recruitment is not required to be completed in the UG3 phase, but reasonable progress should be demonstrated so that all aims will be completed in the UH3 phase.

The purpose of this FOA is to establish Centers of collaborating investigators with the goal of identifying and advancing research opportunities for translating immunotherapy concepts for children and adolescents with cancer toward clinical applications. Specifically, this FOA targets the following area designated as a scientific priority by the Blue Ribbon Panel (BRP): Recommendation (B) that calls for the establishment of a pediatric immunotherapy translational science network. The network was envisioned by the BRP as focusing on identifying new targets for immunotherapies, developing new pediatric immunotherapy treatment approaches (e.g., cancer vaccines, cellular therapy, combinations of immunotherapy agents, and others), and defining the biological mechanisms by which pediatric tumors evade the immune system. The Pediatric Immunotherapy Discovery and Development Network (PI-DDN) Centers will address and implement these BRP recommendations.

The FOA solicits applications for Specialized Center Cooperative Agreements (U54) for research on HIV-associated cancers from research institutions in the U.S. and LMICs.     Through this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA), the National Cancer Institute (NCI) as a part of its Beau Biden Cancer Moonshot Initiative invites submission of applications requesting support for projects that will accelerate cancer research. Specifically, this FOA targets the following area designated as a scientific priority by the Blue Ribbon Panel (BRP) as Recommendation I: Generation of Human Tumor Atlases. The overarching goal of this FOA is to accelerate research efforts conducted and led by the Human Tumor Atlas Network (HTAN, humantumoratlas.org) via the implementation of three-dimensional (3D) imaging technologies that will allow for a comprehensive view of the dynamic multidimensional ecosystems that define tumors in humans. Each project will lead to the multiplexed 3D characterization of at least one cancer transition investigated by the HTAN (pre-malignant to malignant, primary to metastatic, therapy responsive to resistant). The data and analytical tools generated through this FOA will be made available for use by the research and clinical communities through the activities of the HTAN Data Coordinating Center.
