This award is intended to provide support for developing and maintaining an organizational infrastructure to support a broad-based public-private partnership under FDA's Analgesic, Anesthetic, and Addiction Clinical Trial Translations, Innovations, Opportunities, and Networks (ACTTION) Initiative. Specific projects under the ACTTION Initiative may also be funded.

This announcement solicits applications for two (2) separate competitions, HRSA-17-013 Autism Field-Initiated Innovative Research Studies and HRSA-17-014 Autism Longitudinal Data Project.  The purpose of the Autism Field-Initiated Innovative Research Studies and the Autism Longitudinal Data Project competitions are to support the conduct of empirical research that advances the evidence base on interventions to improve the health and wellbeing of children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders (ASD), with a special focus on addressing the needs of underserved populations.  These competitions will address the critical need that exists for research on the barriers to screening, diagnosis, and receipt of evidence-based interventions.

The mission of the Society of Family Planning Research Fund is to support interdisciplinary research in the biological, medical, epidemiological, behavioral, and social sciences related to family planning. The society focuses on a wide range of research areas - from improvements in basic conceptual or biomedical knowledge, to design of programs or policies that will provide family planning more safely, efficiently and extensively, to studies of the social and psychological dimensions of family planning services and programs.

In this application round we are limiting the focus of our grants program to research that directly investigates the underlying biology of anorexia nervosa, and the questions of how and why it develops and persists.  

The primary objective of this FOA is to stimulate innovative Convergent Neuroscience (CN) approaches to establish causal and/or probabilistic linkages across contiguous levels of analysis (e.g., gene, molecule, cell, circuit, system, behavior) in an explanatory model of psychopathology. In particular, applicants should focus on how specific constituent biological processes at one level of analysis contribute to quantifiable properties at other levels, either directly or as emergent phenomena.  Although not required, it is preferable that applications link at least three levels of analysis and include an emphasis on genetics. The projects under this FOA will develop novel methods, theories, and approaches through a CN team framework, bringing together highly synergistic inter/transdisciplinary teams from neuroscience and "orthogonal" fields (e.g., data/computational science, physics, engineering, mathematics, and environmental sciences). Successful teams will combine, expand upon, or develop conceptual frameworks and theoretical approaches, and build explanatory computational models that connect contiguous levels of analysis. Such frameworks, theories, and computational explanatory models should be validated through experimental approaches to elucidate biological underpinnings of complex behavioral (including cognitive and affective) outcomes in psychopathology. Additionally, a goal of this program is to advance research in CN by creating a shared community framework of resources which may be used by the broader research community to further research, as such, successful team will have robust plan for sharing data and other resources.

Through investment in rigorous research, the Horses and Humans Research Foundation serves as a catalyst to advance knowledge of horses and their potential to impact the health and wellness of people. To advance this mission, the foundation invites proposals from nonprofit organizations for its 2017 Innovative Research grants program. Grants of up to $10,000 will be awarded for research that investigates the therapeutic effects of horses on humans. The purpose of program is to foster research focused on new ideas that have strong potential to bridge gaps in our understanding of horse-human interactions. A secondary goal is to connect practice with scientific knowledge through support for the development of innovative research that might not be funded through traditional channels. Preference will be given to investigators with solid credentials and research experience.

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA), issued by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), invites grant applications that propose longitudinal cohort studies to address emerging and/or high priority research on HIV/AIDS and substance abuse. This FOA will support the development and maintenance of new cohorts or the expansion of existing cohorts to address the natural and treated history of HIV infection in at-risk populations where substance use is a central factor. The intent of the FOA is to provide a strong resource platform for current and future collaborative efforts with other investigators to address emerging questions related to HIV infection, prevention, and treatment in the context of substance abuse, as well as to foster the creativity and efficiency of investigatorinitiated research goals.

Through its Science of Hope and Optimism Funding Initiative program, the association will award two-year grants of up to $250,000 for research projects that use a variety of methods to explore the nature of hope and optimism. Priority will be given to projects in cognitive, developmental, personality, health, and social psychology, as well as sociology. Interdisciplinary teams that include members from cognate areas - e.g., cognitive science, anthropology, nursing, and biology - are encouraged.

This solicitation describes the first phase of a new NSF program to support transformative and integrative research that will accelerate understanding of neural and cognitive systems. NSF seeks exceptional proposals that are bold, potentially risky, and transcend the perspectives and approaches typical of disciplinary research programs. This multi-directorate program is one element of NSF’s broader aim to foster innovation in Cognitive Science and Neuroscience, a multi-year effort that includes NSF’s participation in the Brain Research through Advancing Innovative Neurotechnologies (BRAIN) Initiative (http://www.nsf.gov/brain/). For FY 2015, this competition is organized around two research themes: Neuroengineering and Brain-Inspired Concepts and Designs and Individuality and Variation. The NIH Research Education Program (R25) supports research education activities in the mission areas of the NIH. The goal of this NHLBI R25 program is to support educational activities that enhance the diversity of the biomedical, behavioral, and clinical research workforce in the mission areas of importance to NHLBI. To accomplish the stated goal, this funding opportunity announcement encourages the development of creative educational activities with a primary focus on Research Experiences.

The National Research Action Plan (NRAP) responding to Executive Order 13625, Improving Access to Mental Health Services for Veterans, Service Members, and Military Families (August 31, 2012), lays out a framework to ensure that Government funding agencies work together to further our knowledge and diagnostic/therapeutic capabilities with regard to post- traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), TBI, suicide, and related injuries by following longitudinal cohorts of Service members and Veterans. The DoD and VA ORD meet this directive through continued collaboration on and coordination of research efforts in the areas of TBI and PTSD. Additionally, recommendations from the DoD Blast Injury Research Program Coordinating Office's November 2015 International State of the Science Meeting (Does Repeated Blast- Related Trauma Contribute to the Development of Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE)?) included pursuing longitudinal studies to evaluate links between blast-related TBI with CTE. While a number of longitudinal efforts are ongoing, the DoD and VA seek to pursue a mechanism to collaboratively streamline and continue longitudinal studies of mTBI in active duty and Veteran populations. The objective of this effort is to solicit a single Consortium of a large longitudinal study and supporting sub-studies to analyze a large TBI cohort to include Service members, Veterans, and relevant populations.

The purpose of this FOA is to fund research centers that will establish longitudinal cohorts in rare HLBS diseases to investigate unaddressed research questions using epidemiologic study designs and methods that are appropriate for conditions affecting fewer than 200,000 persons in the US. These observational cohort studies should be designed to provide an evidence base for future interventional studies, including clinical trials; for developing better diagnostics than those that are currently available; for answering early translational questions; or for broader implementation of guidelines for managing these diseases. This program will provide opportunities to advance rare disease research using genetics and deep phenotyping to characterize the disease and to identify disease sub-types; to use data science methods that integrate clinical and patient-reported outcomes (PROs) with laboratory, imaging, environmental and -omics data to understand the natural history of disease; to generate data that differentiate patients with the same morphological phenotype but different genetic mutations and severity of outcomes; to elucidate genotype-phenotype interactions and multisystem phenotyping to develop reliable and valid predictive tools to determine who will respond to which treatments and when to intervene; and to encourage innovative methods such as telemedicine to include participants with rare diseases located in remote locations.

The NIH Directors Pioneer Award supports individual scientists of exceptional creativity who propose highly innovative and potentially transformative research towards the ultimate goal of enhancing human health. Individuals from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Applications in all topics, including, but not limited to, the behavioral, social, biomedical, applied, and formal sciences, relevant to the broad mission of NIH are welcome and may involve basic, translational, or clinical research. To be considered pioneering, the proposed research must reflect substantially different scientific directions from those already being pursued in the investigators research program or elsewhere. The NIH Directors Pioneer Award is a component of the High-Risk, High-Reward Research program of the NIH Common Fund.

The Substance Abuse andMental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Center for Substance AbuseTreatment (CSAT), isaccepting applications for fiscal year (FY) 2019 Provider's Clinical SupportSystem - Universities (Short Title: PCSS-Universities) grants. The purpose of this program is toexpand/enhance access to medication-assisted treatment (MAT) services forpersons with an opioid use disorder (OUD) seeking or receiving MAT throughensuring the education and training of students in the medical, physicianassistant and nurse practitioner fields. This program's focus is to ensure students fulfill the trainingrequirements needed to obtain a DATA waiver to prescribe MAT in office-basedsettings. The desired outcomes include: 1) an increase in the number of individuals completing the trainingrequirements for the DATA waiver, 2) an increase the number of individuals witha DATA waiver, and 3) an ultimate increase in those prescribing.

The purpose of this FOA is to encourage mechanistic research to investigate the impact of sleep disturbances on pain. The mechanisms and processes underlying the contribution of sleep and sleep disturbances to pain perception and the development and maintenance of chronic pain may be very broad. This FOA encourages interdisciplinary research collaborations by experts from multiple fieldsneuroscientists, psychologists, endocrinologists, immunologists, geneticists, pharmacologists, chemists, physicists, behavioral scientists, clinicians, caregivers, and others in relevant fields of inquiry.
