An online marketplace for teachers to buy and sell classroom resources. I have found many free and low cost worksheets, visuals and even lesson plans online. Resources include worksheets for pitch, rhythm, composers, specific songs, like the Star Spangled Banner and so much more. A valuable resource for a teacher who does not want to "recreate the wheel" OR who is creative and likes to "recreate the wheel" and earn a little cash doing it!

Teachers Pay Teachers (TPT), is a great resource for lesson plans, bulletin boards, and so much more! While most resources are free, some you do have to pay for.

This would be a great source for teachers who need the documentation for certain topics. This website provides every grade level, along with every subject being provided. There are lots of information on this source for free, and there are also many sources that are not free. But it depends on what you want or need. The purpose of this sources is to give teachers a wide range of things, that they may need in their classrooms.

This website contains PDFs of wind band music that is available for free to download in the United States. The music is public domain or available via a Creative Commons license. This is very helpful with finding older music or replacing parts, especially with music that is out of print.

This band music library includes pieces that were written for American Town Bands. American Town Bands used to be so popular that almost every town in my region of Massachusetts had one. Sadly, these bands have been slowly dying out. Thanks to this website, you can find free music that those bands used to play and revive them with your ensembles.

The tuner has a variety of features and settings for different instruments and ensembles. It is particularly useful for tracking sustained pitch accuracy using a variety of graphing options and its distinctive growing smiley face. The website also has a section of educational resources for brass, woodwind, and orchestral instruments.

These podcasts discuss band problems and solutions to apply to everyday lessons. It covers a variety of band information including beginning band materials to support the curriculum and even ensemble seating.

From the Top is a PBS series that features young performers on the Carnegie Hall stage. Each clip includes background and an interview with Christopher O'Riley (host and sometimes piano accompanist). There are representations of almost every major instrument in band and orchestra as well as vocalists, choral ensembles, pianists, and guitarists. The young performers have selected pieces in a variety of styles and some have amazing background stories, including an Olympic skater and one about the effects of Hurricane Katrina. The website also includes podcasts and a section for teachers that includes lesson plans to incorporate along with each episode. CadenzaStringsNC is a YouTube channel created by Kevin Yen, Violinist and Violist. He has recorded and created playlists of many books and repertoire lists, including several volumes of the Suzuki Violin and Viola series. Some of his videos are also with the accompaniment for the songs or have practice tracks recorded at a slower tempo. This is a helpful resource for anyone preparing this literature for solo and ensemble performances as students can have an accurate example of the music to listen to at home and follow along with the correct bowings.

Being a first-year teacher is, as I'm sure we all know, daunting and overwhelming, especially for those of us who seek to be the best that we can be for our students. Nonetheless, educator Jim Matthews provides his audience with a concise list of eight habits exhibited by several highly effective band directors, which includes but is not limited to having ensembles play long tones, engage in breathing exercises, and participate in warm-up routines that are both effective and efficient. This resource can be used by directors to recruit and advocate for their programs. Directors can access and download videos that introduce students to different instruments and templates of documents to share with administrators and parents. Students may also be directed to the site and explore it individually, especially if they want to join an ensemble.

The purpose of the website is to share ideas and concepts that the author has used in his classroom. Multimedia is available to reinforce concepts talked about in the various blog posts.
