An interesting fact mentioned in this video is that a study proved that the performance level of mentally envisioning practicing an activity and actually performing the activity produces similar results.

It includes games, videos, audio recordings, and text. Students can interact with games that allow them to match rhythms, sort instruments into families, build an instrument, create a graphic-based composition, and match instruments and composers. There is also information about children's concerts.

This is an awesome resource that's student-friendly and focuses on instruments of the orchestra, as well as composers. It creates a strong connection between concept and real-world scenarios. The website is designed around the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. There are engaging and interactive games and lessons for students to learn about the orchestra and test their knowledge.

Very engaging and visually appealing website from the New York Philharmonic. Unfortunately many of the links would not work; however, one really cool feature is that there are recordings of symphony performances that can be viewed in a classroom. Much better quality of video than many available videos on YouTube.

This website works as a database for many famous composers. Students can use this website to complete music history projects as well as composer projects. Composers are organized by country or by period.

The purpose of this website is to portray the artwork of the creator. With the posted artwork are description of the composers available the site. This website would be a useful resource for history facts about composers form multiple musical periods. The website also offers information about prominent and lesser known composers from several countries. YouTube inks are often provided for a listening example of each composer's work.

This Ted Talk, given by Alan Harvey, explains the many ways that music affects the human body and brain. Harvey explained the history and use of music within our lives. In this lecture, Alan Harvey explained the ways in which music triggers signals in our brain. He demonstrated the impact of music on the brain through images of the brain, showing the alpha waves notated by an EEG, and by giving examples of a video with peaceful music and then again with a faster and darker melody. He spoke about how music impacts our viewpoint upon images.

I know this isn't a "website", per se, but I need to share Dudamel conducting the fourth movement of Dvorak's "New World Symphony" since I just bookmarked the listening map. This is such a wonderful performance, and it demonstrates how crucial the conductor is in coercing a certain sound from the performers!
