Beth's Music Notes is another great blog to follow that includes tons of songs and most free if you join. I like to follow her blog to find new songs to bring to the classroom.

This blog incorporates a multitude of songs and lessons to go with different every day musical concepts. There are lessons and posts regarding rhythmic concepts, melodic concepts, Orff arrangements, and recorder songs. Songs on the website are organized into different categories so they are easy to look through and extra resources are linked to help with sub plans, lesson plans, assessments, and even behavior.

A blog, shop, and resource for music teaching. Primarily offers songs, resources, and games in the Kodaly methodology. Posts and songs are searchable by date, grade, and other criteria. Songs and resources are available for purchase.

The Smithsonian Jazz website offers an education page that features information about jazz and jazz musicians, free streaming recordings, and guided listening activities. Some categories also offer parent guides, lesson plans, and education kits. The website suggests that the appropriate age range is 8-15 years.

The Smithsonian Jazz Education page is a resource provided to showcase jazz and it's history. They have many lesson plans with recordings and activities to do with your class.

Complete units for music classes that talk of the history behind many aspects of the music industry. Units include music technology as well as music genres and how they started. Lesson plans have links to all necessary handouts, videos and pictures.

Purpose of this resource: This is an excellent source of information, sheet music, lesson plans, and worksheets for the elementary music educator. Musical Content: This webpage contains composer biographies, sheet music downloads, worksheets, music theory games, music dictionaries, private teacher directories and more. The content is geared toward students in grades K-6. Other information: This webpage has excellent, free content, but some of the advertisements on the page may by inappropriate for display in class. Educators should find the resource they need and then print out hard copies for use in class.

This website has a lot of lesson plan ideas, theory worksheets, games, piano music and more all for free (mostly). I like to use this website if I want to find a new way to teach an old music concept.

This is a Pinterest page geared towards music teachers. It provides you with many ideas on how to decorate your classroom or hallway. You can also access seating charts, lesson plans, organizational skills as well as basic ideas for your classroom. This is a fun page where you can be creative and explore others creative ideas for your program or students. Pinterest is a great place to share your own ideas while exploring so many others!

Thoughtco.com/music has many articles pertaining to many different genres and styles of music. It has anything from, pop, country, and hip hop, to world music, classical, Latin, and punk. It also has a music education section that has lesson plans, articles on music history, theory, instrument care, and instruction. This would be a great resource for students to research topics in music.

The Comprehensive Musicianship through Performance initiative was started in Wisconsin and aims to help teachers with a planning method. There are lesson plans available. This method aims to help teachers plan to teach a whole piece using all the aspects of music learning and teaching.

A great website by a seasoned general music teacher. This website has many lesson plans, songs, and activities for Pre-k through 5th grade general music. The blog includes archives that date back 8 years and posts are searchable by title, content, and activity.

The homepage of Denise Gagne on YouTube. Many sample lesson plans are included as well as songs from Musicplay magazine.

Video lesson: Little Liza Jane This link is a video of Dr. Robert Amchin as he demonstrates the teaching process for "Little Liza Jane." Amchin posts videos of his elementary music classes in his Youtube channel.

This site, compiled of professional educators, aims to enhance creative music and movement by emphasizing the Orff approach to instruction, providing professional development to its members, and supporting the creative potential of learners. You must subscribe to the association in order to benefit from its classroom resources, scholarships, and publication. But it seems to be a great source of support for classroom music educators!

The AOSA website is a resource for music educators. It provides information about the Orff-Schulwerk approach, advocacy, professional development, and teaching resources (lesson plans covering a variety of music content, videos, literature integration, and technology). Some links are only accessible by AOSA members.

The American Orff-Schulwerk Association provides a variety of resources for teachers and students to enhance their musical education. Here, students work together to create musical experiences through dance, movement, playing instruments, singing, and acting. Workshops and clinics can be attended to enhance knowledge and understanding in this area of music education.

This website, from the National Association for Music Education, highlights the "Top Most Read Music Education Blogs of 2016." The blogs pertain to various topics including the benefits of the arts, lesson planning, concert etiquette, music technology, and classroom management.

The purpose if this site it to create easy access to the most read blogs of 2016 in one location. Topics such as: What Students Have to Gain From the Arts, Effective Lesson Planning for the Secondary Choral Director, 3 Reasons Music and Arts Education is a Shining Light, Music Teacher Resumes Revisited: Planning, Creating, and Maintaining, Ten Tips to Transform a Flutist into a Piccoloist, Teaching Concert Etiquette, How to Teach Your Students the Attention They Need to Succeed...etc. are explored. All these topic are related to student success in the music classroom.

So many wonderful resources for choral teachers. One stop shopping for basic materials for the classroom: lesson plans, sight-reading, and repertoire.

This is a website on using a Smart board in a band/ music class.

The purpose of this page is to provide a Whiteboard resource with 10 excellent ways to incorporate the IWB into music lessons. Several of these ideas were new to me and I look forward to exploring them in my classroom.

This article describes ways to use an interactive whiteboard for music learning. Many of the ideas may be best suited for a general music classroom but can also be incorporated into rehearsal settings. IWBs can be used to teaching the reading and writing of music notation. They can also be used to teach music form and history, and interactive lessons with video, power points, and games. IWBs help engage many learning styles at once and keep students engaged.  

(a) The purpose of the resource is to teach music theory in a sequential, visual way. It can be used from elementary age students to college level students. (b) The specific musical content addressed in this resource is reading and understanding standardized notation, rhythmic reading, scales, key signature, intervals,  and chord progressions (diatonic, neopolitan) (c) I would use this technology for instructional use in the classroom. 

This website is a great resource for music theory lessons. Works well on white board but even better with a smart board and involving student interaction. Starts with the staff and goes all the way through analysis.

Musicyheory .net is a good start for my students because in my program we rarely have time to go over any type of music theory. This online music resource starts individuals from learning about the staff all the way to understanding how to analyze a composition or arrangement.

Florida state standards for music. This allows me to quickly find the standards for the state of florida and helps to create my lessons.

Catie Dwinal is a teacher and musician who writes a blog that includes many interesting lesson plans that are easy to carry out and require few resources. She is also an expert in Quaver Music.

This is a great site for older students who are learning about specific composers. In this lesson on Tchaikovsky, students can watch videos, listen to the piece and read about Tchaikovsky's work.

This is a blog by Joanna Sisk-Purvis, a music teacher in North Carolina. She includes several free lesson plans that incorporate iPads and has many app suggestions for music education. A strong focus on recorders and technology for them is also included in her blog.
