This website works as a database for many famous composers. Students can use this website to complete music history projects as well as composer projects. Composers are organized by country or by period.

The purpose of this website is to portray the artwork of the creator. With the posted artwork are description of the composers available the site. This website would be a useful resource for history facts about composers form multiple musical periods. The website also offers information about prominent and lesser known composers from several countries. YouTube inks are often provided for a listening example of each composer's work.

The ISME website is to give readers a better understanding of music communities, build rapport among musicians, and enhance the learning curve for teachers and students. This site has a mission to integrate musical learning into all school systems and cultures to build a stronger body of music educators in the world. This website includes news and articles that pertain to the advocacy of education arts, the development of small groups of educators, and music therapy and technology. It also includes world music educators news and conferences around the globe.

The ISME webpage is useful for educators who teach outside the country or move around a lot. It is a great source for conferences and professional development opportunities. Check out the news area too, lots of great information on advocacy and advancement!

K-12 Resources for Music Educators is a wonderful site which provides a number of links which connect teachers to music resources. The links are divided into categories such as band, orchestra, choral, classroom, and music. The links provided give a variety of musical sites which provide information on specific instruments, types of music, and state websites.

A great site with a giant list of music websites from around the country. It includes everything from organizations to instrument specific websites and blogs. A great deal of information can be found on the websites listed and you have a great deal of choices to choose from. Most subject areas have multiple websites linked for differing information sources.

La Nueva Cancion is an entry on the Smithsonian Folkways website. It introduces the reader to the New Song movements in Latin America. It includes a couple of videos on people who has continued that trend in the United States as a consequence of political exile from their home countries.

This is a looping program that is widely used for composition around the country.

This 100 Years of Rock link contains a chronological display of how popular music has evolved.  It provides listening examples for dozens of American genres of music, from rock to country, blues, pop, and countless other sub-genres.  This link would make for interesting conversation with a History of Rock N' Roll class or classes about American music.  I especially enjoyed the listening examples because they give evidence to how much culture has influenced the different styles of American popular music.  I feel that students would very much enjoy this link because the listening examples cater to their interests, especially as the viewer scrolls toward the bottom of the page.

Midnight Music is designed to simply technology for music teachers. The YouTube channel provides tips, tutorials and lessons and advice. With new videos posted each week there is an abundance of information available to any music teachers. This site could be useful with navigating which software to use for certain projects or discovering what technologies are available. The channel's owner is not based in Australia and may make some references to grade level that are not familiar to teachers in other countries.

New Horizons is a network of music education programs for adults. New Horizons advocates for participatory music opportunities for adults who either had little or no music education in their younger years or have had little connection to music making since their school years. New Horizons groups are independently run organizations in the United States and many foreign countries. The first New Horizons group was started by Dr. Roy Ernst at the Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester.

Created by the people of Jazz at Lincoln Center, this site is dedicated to spreading jazz education to every school in the country. Jazz Academy has a few different programs, some of which cost money. However, Essentially Ellington is free and member directors get access to a number of resources and free Duke Ellington charts, some of which are accessible at the middle school level.

This is a Facebook group for music teachers only. This is where music educators from all over can post, read, comment and share educational resources or discussions that you can relate too. I find a lot of the topics brought up in this group to be important. Additionally, this is a great way to network and meet other teachers in different parts of the country. You can share strategies and approaches of your teaching skills while learning about other innovative ways to implement in your own classroom.

Thoughtco.com/music has many articles pertaining to many different genres and styles of music. It has anything from, pop, country, and hip hop, to world music, classical, Latin, and punk. It also has a music education section that has lesson plans, articles on music history, theory, instrument care, and instruction. This would be a great resource for students to research topics in music.

David Row's blog is a great resource for music educators! He provides many resources and personal experiences as well as a compiled list of blogs of many music educators across the country.

For a Northern perspective on music education, the Canadian Music Educators Association is the authority here in Canada. They release journals, blogs, newsletters and share many other materials that promote the ideals of music education to be used all music teachers in this country.

This website is a compilation of world music that is appropriate for children to learn about and perform. The library is vast, and is easily searchable by continent, country, and language. There are audio clips and linked videos, as well as several English translations. It's a great resource to explore world music and culture.

Artie Almeida has a ton of free downloads to accompany not only her lessons that are in her books, but also free printables that can be used in many original lessons.  Many of her ideas are unique to other lessons I have seen around.

The resources are not very easy to sort through, but they are well worth it! Many songs and activities from Artie's books are included for free and there are countless resources to use in the classroom.

This is the website for the Dallas Brass. The Dallas Brass have been around since 1983, and one of their primary functions is touring the country to visit schools. It also provides links to information on breathing exercises, efficiency exercises, intonation, and various other clinics. There is also information on how to book them to visit your school.
