This set of music books is completely free and in PDF format. In addition to that, there are videos that you can show in class or have your students view on their own at home. This is a great resource for a beginning band program that does not have a large budget. All resources are free to use, and it is based in solfege so it is easier to teach a whole room of beginners on different instruments.

DonorsChoose is a great place to start looking for additional aid for your classroom. You can pose a project that you need funding for, if its more instruments, books, materials, and/or other resources that you may need, but can't get your district to obtain. It is very easy to use and you create a project where people can find or search and donate their own money to fund. You can have several people donate and you can share your proposal on various forms of social media to help spread the word. The choral teacher and I did a few projects and we were able to get Orff Instruments, Drums, and even Ipods for the kids. You have to follow up with DonorsChoose and send photos and thank you letters from the students to show how you are using the materials in the classroom. It is a perfect way to receive that additional funding for your program.

DonorsChoose is a miracle for programs with little to no budget. You can create an account as an educator and create projects that go towards your classroom. You can ask for anything from Chromebooks to instruments and sheet music. Donors from all over the world can donate and support your classroom. This is the resource that helped me build my band program.

This resource provides fingering charts for all woodwind instruments and would be a great resource for predominately brass music educators and private teachers

Musician's way is a website that is useful for both teachers and students alike. The website provides viewers with practice guides and tips, which are ideal for students, and workshops, which would be ideal for educators. Musician's Way is a companion website to the text of the same name written by Gerald Klickstein. The website also has resources for teachers who are looking for inspiration to bring more creativity into their classroom.

This is a supporting website for Gerald Klickstein's book, "The Musician's Way". Resources are organized by category, most of which contain additional reading/links on a topic like practice, creativity, and performance. Additionally, teachers/students can download practice documents for planning, timelines, and developing good practice habits as a musician.

The Yellow Brick Road website contains a blog full of free, well-designed, standard-based lesson plans as well as links to her store on www.teacherspayteachers.com. You can sign up for a newsletter on the website to get additional resources emailed to you. This site is geared towards K-6 general music.

Quia enables educators to create quizzes quickly and effectively. The website walks you through the quiz-making process, and it is easy to use. Questions can take the form of true/false, multiple choice, multiple answers, short answer responses, essay, and several others. In addition, multimedia capabilities are available to enhance quiz questions. Teachers can add a music clip or an image to illustrate or become the focal point of a question. Questions can be randomized for multiple variations of quizzes, and feedback can be left for students for each question.

This YouTube channel features video tutorials on various aspects of the music industry, including proper recording and mixing techniques. In addition, there are video masterclasses from the MixCon annual convention from professional audio engineers and mixing engineers.

The LSO Play website allows for exploration of the orchestra and instruments. There recordings available for few and camera angles may be changed throughout the recording. In addition, there are musician biographies as well as masterclass videos for all the instruments. This is a great tool to share with students in watching and interacting with music recordings and insight from performing musicians.

This site contains a number of great ideas for tech integration in the orchestra classroom. The tuning automation idea is good way to use technology to streamline the start of class.

OrchestraTeacher.net is a great resource for string teachers looking to integrate technology into their classroom. This site has multiple tech application suggestions, as well as general pedagogy resources for all string instruments- even guitar!.

This website is a great resource for orchestra directors. It has various resources and suggestions for teaching materials. In addition, it is set up in a blog format which is easy to view the various posts.

The Smithsonian Folkways website offers lesson plans and recordings pertaining to world music. Using the map tool, teachers can select a region and view a PDF lesson plan (primarily for upper elementary, middle, and high school levels) and links to tracks for purchase or streaming. The site also includes information about professional development and interactive features, such as a jazz mixer and "Meet the Mariachi."

Smithsonian Folkways is the record label of the Smithsonian Institute. Website includes free resources for the classroom including lesson plans, courses for teachers, and additional resources including thousands of recordings.

This website features a series of videos presented by legendary jazz trumpet player Wynton Marsalis. Marsalis discusses a wide range of topics including the importance of practice, trumpet technique, the history of jazz, characteristics of jazz music, and famous jazz musicians. Additional teacher resources and websites are also listed.

An awesome listening activity for Pre-school aged students. Five listening excerpts from classical music related to water. Each example includes ideas of what to listen for while listening. Additional examples are included for possible extension. Teachers can add movements to each example for a kinesthetic activity.

A great website full of general music teaching activities and songs. Organized by category, grade level, and subject. This website is easily searchable and has countless lesson plans available for free. You can also purchase a premium plan to get access to Orff arrangements and additional lesson plans.

This Wiki discusses works for smaller bands. In addition to the specific information on pieces, there is also information on composers of young band works.

Get your scores here! You can find just about any score here and they will ship it out the same day. Also available are downloadable digital copies of scores. It is easy to search the site and I really like that there are sound files to hear examples of pieces you are considering purchasing.

This is the best site to find scores and performance ideas. The site allows you to search by composer or title, and you may also purchase scores one at a time to try them out and see if you want to purchase large numbers later after trying them out.

J.W. Pepper is a site where you can order most published sheet music, books, and more. 

This site provides instructional information and projects for anyone wishing to learn about sound mixing. There is a lot of good information and links to resources. This would be a good site for a recording technology class to visit.

Excellent tool for percussionists to HEAR what the 40 essential rudiments are supposed to sound like and gives a very good methodology for practicing them slowly and gradually improving. The one downside (and it is significant in my philosophy) is that many of the illustrations use traditional grip, whereas I teach only match grip.

This page is a one stop shop for all snare drum rudiments. Each rudiment has a video showing the proper technique. In addition, there is a written out version of each rudiment as well as different tempi with which it can be practiced. This is a great resource to share with all percussion students, especially those preparing for auditions.

Great website for teachers who are not percussionist. Rudiments are hard for anyone to memorize if you are not using them everyday. This site is also great for students who are still learning rudiments. One can easily click on a rudiment and can hear what it is supposed to sound like at different tempos, and what it looks like in standard notation.
