Another string specific music website. It is a wonderful resource for orchestra students of all levels and their educators. It covers the basics of how to hold an instrument as well as other specific advanced techniques.There are also resources to help with practicing and repertoire.

It has articles and techniques that are meant to give saxophonists needed guidance on history, ways to improve performance, and how to perform with different styles. This site includes different genres or saxophone performance, such as classical, jazz, be bop, rock and blues, and regae. There are other links for purchasing music, mouthpieces, saxophones, and practice books.

The purpose of this website is to provide individual drum lessons to young aspiring percussionists. This also would be useful for music educators whose primary instrument might not be percussion. For any of educators brave enough to tackle homeade instruments in class, this site is great for step-by-step instructions on how to do so. Here, you can find 8 homeade instruments to create with your music students. The istructions are fairy simple to follow. I attempted this once while making homeade maracas with foil paper and rice. The instruments were fun, but the project was very messy. Perhaps, I can give it a shot again using these simpler techniques!

A comprehensive technique studies for brass instruments. It was created by Herbert Clarke in 1912. This is still widely used by music educators. 

This is a extended video (almost 90 minutes) by the U.S. Army Field band flute section. It describes many techniques from beginner on up. There is good camera work to show close ups of embouchure formation. They also appear to be active when replying to comments, allowing users to ask questions and expand on the topics in the video.

There was a time when music techniques and sounds were somewhat unique to an individual or group. With the technology that exists today, it is almost impossible to keep anything a secret for long. Along with that technology, though, comes the opportunity to create virtually anything one sets one's mind to.

Vic Firth's education resources include videos on all things percussion related.  There are video and audio clips regarding beginning snare drum/mallets, drum set, rudiments, concert percussion, and marching/world percussion.  This is a great resource for teachers and students.

Many of the music reading articles and exercises are also applicable to non-percussionists and can be readily adapted for classroom use.

Aside from quality percussion equipment, Vic Firth provides a wealth of information on percussion education. The site includes videos, articles, and pdf's of exercises as well if needed.

An amazing site for all instrumentalists that includes audio/video demonstrations of most woodwind, brass, string, percussion, and keyboard instruments. Examples of articulation, timbre in different registers, mutes, vibrato, special effects, and more are provided.

A great interactive way for students to learn the instruments of the orchestra, as well as fretted strings, without sitting through a lecture. What fun this would be as a scavenger hunt for the students with QR codes.
