Amazing resource for lesson plans, worksheets, and games to teach students about a wide variety of music topics. This website would be great for creating lesson plans for subs and would also be a great resource if you can't find printed worksheets that address theory. The games are also fun and educational, asking students to identify instruments, tempos, etc. and can act as quizzes that can be scored and printed out. Great resource!

Music Tech Teacher is an open resource offered by Karen Garrett as an extension of her own music classes she had previously been teaching. Ms. Garrett offers free lessons, worksheets and assessments that can be downloaded as .pdfs and used by any teachers looking for materials that could be used within their own classrooms. Ms. Garrett's resources also have a strong focus on teachers looking to specifically make use of technology in their classes.

DonorsChoose is a great place to start looking for additional aid for your classroom. You can pose a project that you need funding for, if its more instruments, books, materials, and/or other resources that you may need, but can't get your district to obtain. It is very easy to use and you create a project where people can find or search and donate their own money to fund. You can have several people donate and you can share your proposal on various forms of social media to help spread the word. The choral teacher and I did a few projects and we were able to get Orff Instruments, Drums, and even Ipods for the kids. You have to follow up with DonorsChoose and send photos and thank you letters from the students to show how you are using the materials in the classroom. It is a perfect way to receive that additional funding for your program.

DonorsChoose is a miracle for programs with little to no budget. You can create an account as an educator and create projects that go towards your classroom. You can ask for anything from Chromebooks to instruments and sheet music. Donors from all over the world can donate and support your classroom. This is the resource that helped me build my band program.

This application can be used to create quizzes for students to participate in. I use kahoot for students to plug in answers for review games in my music history classes. I also use it as an anonymous ways to get polls done by the band.

My 6th grade students ask every year if we can play the star spangled banner at the Veteran's day ceremonies. I now have a version that is possible for them to play!

We go christmas caroling every year to the nursing home. I use some of these arrangements.

The website additionally includes several websites on various percussion related topics, such as "Reading on Keyboard Percussion," "Brazilian Percussion," "Developing Your Technical Skills," and others.

NPR ( National Public Radio) is a media organization that finds artists, hold interviews of various artists while airing it on their podcast or creating live videos. The musicians are from all over the world, some are up and coming artists and some are already famous. Tiny Desk concerts also offer a contest for bands or artists to enter this competition which will help expose them. You can find NPR all over the place. They are on public radio stations from around the US, there are videos online and can be found at YouTube, as well as their podcasts that are accessible from any computer or phone.

Kevin Lynch is a first-year band director in Stafford County, VA. He started a podcast that features interviews with both younger and experienced educators as a way to share different perspectives on music education. A wide variety of topics are discussed, depending on that week's guest.

This is a great resource to start out any student playing a low brass instrument.

This website is a great resource for band students to better understand note names, fingerings, and musical terms.  It is structured as a flash card game.  Students are racing to get all answers correct and into the Top 50.  If students answer incorrectly, the correct answer is shown to help students learn the correct answer. Students must answer all questions correctly in a certain time to move on to the next level.

This website is speed game for reinforcing terms, note names, or fingerings for students. It can be specialized to different instruments and has an option for teachers to keep track of scores by school.

Music racer is a tool to help users practice their note names and/or fingerings. Users select which instrument they would like to practice, and are given eight questions per round. Scoring is based on both speed and accuracy.

This site is a discussion with many different music educators and provides helpful hints, tools, and suggestions on how to establish and maintain a successful marching band.

This site includes resources, curriculum, and blog posts designed primarily for elementary general music. A few resources for choral, band, and private studio are also available. Blog posts include many practical topics and issues faced by music teachers such as strategies for working with special needs students, technology, and mental health of teachers. This is a PDF file of the various pitch tendencies of wind instruments. Along with a sheet explaining the tendencies for each instrument, a blank worksheet is provided in order for students to fill out for their own understanding of the tendencies of their own instrument.
