Social Media Makes Early Verdicts on the Upfront | Special Report: TV Upfront - Advertising Age - 0 views

  • "Cult," a creepy-looking drama on The CW, ranked first on a Social Index from Networked Insights, a social-media analytics company that advises brands and agencies on media planning. The index considers post volume and sentiment as well as other factors in chatter across Facebook, Twitter, forums and blogs. "Cult" follows an investigative journalist trying to find his paranoid brother, who went missing after becoming afraid that a hit TV show was out to get him. However much social traction it gets, "Cult" may have a tough time achieving big traditional TV ratings because it appears on one of the smaller networks and will arrive in mid-season instead of the fall, when attention is higher. "The Mindy Project" on Fox, "The Carrie Diaries" on The CW, "The Following" on Fox and "Revolution" on NBC round out the top five new series on Networked Insights' Social Index. On a network-by-network basis, buyers interested in shows' social potential should consider "666 Park Avenue" on ABC, "Vegas" on CBS, "Cult" on CW, "The Mindy Project" on Fox and "Revolution" on NBC, Networked Insights said.

Project Glass Is The Future Of Google | TechCrunch - 0 views

  • Here’s what you won’t see in Glass: advertising. Brin stated pretty vehemently that they have no plans to integrate advertising into Glass and that the only plan is to simply sell the hardware, which will be “significantly” cheaper than the $1,500 Explorer Editions that were announced today. The Glass team says they’re focused on the quality of the experience and not making it as cheap as possible. (Thank gawd.) Core Google apps like Gmail and Plus (Hangouts) are being tested now along with Android apps. What isn’t clear is whether or not the Android and Google apps teams are working with the team at Glass and vice versa.

Topher Grace to Star in Intel and Toshiba's Social Film 'The Beauty Inside' [VIDEO] - 0 views

  •
The film, to be directed by Sundance-winner Drake Doremus (Like Crazy), is based on the story of Alex, a young man who wakes up every day with a different appearance. Intel and Toshiba are seeking actors for the film via a Facebook Page. The first episode in the film is scheduled to premiere on Aug. 16 at 3 p.m. PST. The final episode will air on Sept. 20. In a bit of product placement, Alex will employ a Toshiba Portege Ultrabook during the movie. Grace doesn't appear in the trailer above, but he narrates it. The two tech giants collaborated on a similar project last year called The Inside Experience starring Emmy Rossum. In that case, the plot was moved along by comments from viewers on Facebook and Twitter.
