Microsoft Tries Getting Social With Display Ads | ClickZ - 0 views

  •
Microsoft has hitched up with Bazaarvoice to inject consumer reviews and ratings into its display ads. It's the first of several socialish capabilities the company will offer advertisers in the coming months. Over time, Microsoft's new "people powered stories" will let media buyers incorporate user-generated videos, expert blogs, and even discussion forum content into their display ads. But not yet. When the PPS product launches next month, it'll be strictly a ratings game.

Amazon Launches "Singles": Dating Service For Lonely Stories | Fast C... - 0 views

  • Singles is not a dating service for lonely e-book fans. It's a (somewhat confusing) attempt by Amazon to inject a whole new level of creativity into the Kindle, but what it's actually all about is short stories. Singles as in music singles, you see -- letting you buy a single song rather than the whole album. Get it?"Less than 10,000 words or more than 50,000: That is the choice writers have generally faced for more than a century--works either had to be short enough for a magazine article or long enough to deliver the 'heft' required for book marketing and distribution. But in many cases, 10,000 to 30,000 words (roughly 30 to 90 pages) might be the perfect, natural length to lay out a single killer idea." That's how Amazon introduces the concept.

Adaptive Bit Rate Video Streaming: Why Delivery Will Matter More Than Codec - 0 views

Last, but certainly not least, is how HLS provides the publisher with a unique opportunity when it comes to in-stream ad insertion. Recall how HLS is a stream of ten-second segments of video; those segments can be created in such a way that a video ad can be injected into the content stream so that it plays out seamlessly for the viewer. The viewing experience is basically identical to watching a commercial on broadcast TV.
