The Community College Consortium for Open Educational Resources (CCCOER) is a joint effort by the Foothill-De Anza Community College District, the League for Innovation in the Community College and many other community colleges and university partners to develop and use open educational resources (OER) and especially open textbooks in community college courses.

The Mixxer is a free educational community for language learners and teachers to find a language partner for a language exchange. The language partner is someone who speaks the language you study as their native language and is studying your native language. As a member of the Mixxer community, you can communicate with your language partner via Skype to practice speaking. You can also submit documents and ask native speakers to correct your writing.

What does it do? Throughout our years of language teaching, we experienced the all-too-common frustration of constantly searching for THE textbook suited to our French language classes and never finding one. What we needed was a textbook teaching beginners or near-beginners how to live in French in the Canadian context. We could not find it, so we wrote it. Teaching how to live in French in the Canadian context means being able to interact with Francophones in a way similar to how Francophones interact among themselves. This implies knowing the rules of communication, being familiar with French-Canadian culture, using real language, and being actively involved in one's learning. À bon port can best be described by these key-words: communication, Canadian, authentic, learner-centered.

"Reviewing the Kanji" is a reviewing aid that helps you keep track of, and schedule reviews for over two thousand kanji. "Reviewing the Kanji" is a web-based application. There are several advantages over PC/Mac flashcard programs: * Because it focuses on the kanji, the interface can be simplified and there is no time wasted learning yet another PC program. * Although there are many flashcard applications implementing the Leitner system, it is hard to find pre-defined flashcard sets for James Heisig's keywords. * Because it is web-based, it is possible to create a sense of community through the members list, a forum, and other features to come. Studying the kanji with a self-study method can be quite a lonely task if you do not have direct contacts within a japanese community or with other persons sharing your interest. It is my hope that this website will foster motivation and help users to persevere with the method and complete Volume I of "Remembering the Kanji".

With their ideas as a guide, the EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative is embarking on a collaborative project to create a blueprint for the "classroom" of the future -- realizing, of course, that it may not be a classroom at all. With wikis as our workplace, we're asking the EDUCAUSE community to share their ideas and expertise to help us, as a community, a vision of what the ideal learning environment might look like. Video Interactions for Teaching and Learning (VITAL) is a Web-based video analysis and communication system created by the Columbia Center for New Media Teaching and Learning and Professor Herbert Ginsburg of Teachers College, Columbia University. VITAL comprises tools for video editing and annotation and for the creation of multimedia reports, embedded in the context of an course syllabus with topics, videos, and activities, all housed within an online community space. Students who use VITAL learn to observe closely, interpret, and develop arguments using cited video content as evidence.

eTwinning is an action that supports online-based projects between at least two schools from at least two different European countries. Schools form a project and use Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to carry out their work. As schools communicate and collaborate via the Internet, there are no grants or administrative conditions connected to the scheme and face-to-face meetings are not required.
