When the human beings start using the technology, failure becomes a problem that must be managed. As most anyone who has had their email hacked can tell you, the weakest link in any security system is usually the humans. And sometimes the humans leave the door wide open, in part because they don't understand how to close it, don't care enough about closing it, or think the IT folks are just jerks for demanding it be checked so often.

  • beyond ~40–50 hours per week, the marginal returns from additional work decrease rapidly and quickly become negative. We have also demonstrated that though you can get more output for a few weeks during “crunch time” you still ultimately pay for it later when people inevitably need to recover.
  • My intellectual conclusion is that these companies are both destroying the personal lives of their employees and getting nothing in return.
  • This kind of attitude not only hurts young workers who are willing to “step up” to the expectation, but facilitates ageism and sexism by indirectly discriminating against people who cannot maintain that kind of schedule.

Anyone today can create a product – whether it is an ebook or something else, but if you cannot market your products you can stop producing products right from the start. And a sad truth is that even most professional entrepreneurs start their businesses without even a blind guess of how they will market their product.
