People who go through full-body scans Operators controlling the scan machines 3. Identify one ITGS social/ethical concern in the article Privacy 4. Describe ITGS terminology and systems. The systems in this situation include both hardware and software. The hardware is the actual scanning machine while the software is the scanning machine's system that controls whether or not the scanned files of the people passing through are saved into the system or discarded or not. 5. If possible, describe a solution to the concern (issue). Modifying the system to remove the option of saving files could be useful because if the option to save was not present, then it can be assured that the operators do not have the ability to go against the policy. If it is a requirement for the system to need to save files, then the system should be modified to only save files that detect an abnormality that goes against the policy of the scanning. (For example if the scan shows that the person is carrying weapons etc.) Only having the authorized people to view it when it is need with stricter rules.

List and explain each of the ways suggested to provide protection from this type of security breach. Change the password. This is very crucial, if you've used the same password for every other accounts, because it means that anyone can open any account that belongs to you. An easy way to make a complicated password that's fairly easy to remember, is to create a meaningful sentence and take the initials. 1. Explain the issues that are in common with both Amazon and Sony? Issues that are in common with both Amazon and Sony are their reliability and integrity as well as its security. Amazon has just revealed that its Availability Zone in northern Virginia has failed to accommodate customers that were using their services. Sony's hack incident includes its network protection system to be unreliable. Also the security of Amazon's customer's data along with Sony's online users' data is at risk, as well as sensitive information linked to bank accounts. Both Sony and Amazon suffer a setback on their online reputation. Both companies have their servers down which affect a lot of their customers using their services. They both revived worries about the safety of storing and processing data over the Internet. The two crises have also raised questions about the speed and quality of information provided by tech companies when confronted with systems failures. This further links to the data integrity. Amazon users have said that some data may be corrupted or loss resulting from their sites crashing. Sony's users' accounts data may have been altered by unauthorized people. 2. Explain the reasons that cloud computing will continue to grow? Cloud computing will still continue to grow despite its recent incidents because the benefits users receive outweigh the risks that come with cloud computing. The outage suffered by Amazon has been rare. Also, managing one's own network is hardly a guarantee of reliability; it costs a lot of money and is high maintenance. Cloud computing provides another alternative that can save costs for businesses. Also, the recent incidents have proven that managing one's own network is not as reliable as some think considering protection issues and failure/crashes in the network itself. 3. What could have prevented Sony from getting hacked? Sony could have increased its protection system, as well as create random simulations in orde

    1. Identify the area of impact the scenario relates to. -- Leisure, Business 2.Identify all ITGS terminology and phrases (IT and Social/Ethical) -- Twitter, Trojan, Facebook, E-mail spamming, Botnet, messaging service, social inbox, spam, e-mail, networks, online-security firms, junk e-mails, blacklisted addresses, output, domain names, .cn, internet registrars, fraud, web-hosting, cybercrime, hard drives. 3.Describe one ITGS social/ethical concern in the article. --Security is a concern in this article where users and spam is concerned. The security of the users' sensitive information is at risk when users click on spam links no matter from what source, from e-mails (which are decreasing now) to Twitter tweet links. By clicking onto these harmful links, users set free spam that can infiltrate the user's hard drive in search for sensitive information for example bank account numbers. 4.Describe the relationship of the main stakeholders to the IT system. ---The main stakeholder will be hackers and people who are using e-mail and social networking. The relationships between them are, normally hackers used spam mail to spend virus or hack their computer with Trojan horse, but as the email security develop hackers slowly moved to social network which is Facebook, and other many programs. They know that people are currently using social networking a lot and their privacy is open and they could easily get people's email too. Therefore by using Koobface, they could hack people's computer and information 5. Explain the relationship between the IT system and the social/ethical issue identified in question 3. -- The problem with the security is that the security of the users of their personal and public communications are at risk where spam is concerned. Spam is nowadays being planted in almost every corner of the internet, no matter where, in order to try and trick users into clicking on the harmful links in order to spread malware, such as Trojans. This is a disposable email that only lasts for one hour then erases itself. This could come in handy if you have to give an email address to make a game account you could use it so that you don't get spammed from the game site. Also it would make it impossible to track information sent from that email address to someone because it erases itself after one hour after being activated. You do not have to create your name because the site gives you an example. When I opened the site it told me that my email address was ready for use and was (owbjehey@guerrillamailblock.com) however you could change the name and use that as long as it has not been used before or is in use now.

Internet blackouts: Reaching for the kill switch | The Economist - 2 views

  • Egypt’s blackout had plenty of chinks
  •
What were the chinks in the blackout? What are problems with cutting national and international cables? Explain the possible financial impact of blackouts. How can a blackout backfire? march 11 kuni
  •
What were the chinks in the blackout? Many people abroad offered the Egyptians internet though the terrestrial phone system, which was basically a dial-up system. Moreover, Google and Twitter launched a service where users can voicemail their tweets, which is then converted into text, to publish their tweets online. What are problems with cutting national and international cables? It will cost a lot in budget and maybe some damage too, because it is complex and expensive to build and run a kill switch. Explain the possible financial impact of blackouts. The financial, impacts the finance of the blackouts are that money transactions and deposits are affected by the suddenly cut line, which may cause problems to both local individuals as well as large companies that are trying to seal a business deal between each other. An intergovernmental think-tank in paris predicts that the cost of damage in Egypt for its network shutdowns was around $90million. Also, other international countries that are trying to invest in the country that has a blackout are most likely to rethink their decision, and take their investing plans to another more stable country. This affects the country as the whole since they will be losing investors in their country. This would also affect the economy as rates change, the amount of people (tourists) flowing in and out of the country including business groups. How can a blackout backfire? A blackout can backfire its government because it can cause the citizens to view the government's act in a bad way. Cutting of connections will people will stop trusting its government, and would want to overthrow their leader/government. Moreover, This is somewhat a loss for the government. They wouldn't want their citizens to go up against them. Thus, citizens play a major role on how a blackout can backfire. The cutting internet doesn't help at all.

China Tightens Electronic Censorship - NYTimes.com - 2 views

Describe VPN. A VPN means virtual private network and what it does is that it send you data over the Internet in a secure connection. It travels packet over unprotected network in a secured manner. It provides you tunnel which secures your data and send it encrypted form over the Internet. How does a proxy work? By using a proxy the web browser window is then coded as part of the proxy site address and not the real website the surfer is visiting. Any information cached in the temporary folder is that of the proxy, not the users. This means the user is not traced at all and the information is kept hidden. Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/3786946 List a proxy you find useful. Tor Trycatchme anonsafe When would you use a proxy? When you want to hide your IP from anyone. It is a good idea to use it while online shopping, accessing bank websites, and putting personal information. Explain: Google has "played a role in manufacturing social disorder". In my opinion it would be Ipad, but that's only if you're too intense about the aesthetics of Apple's iPad. I am sure that many people are obsessed with the look and how famous Apple products are. Even though Motorola Xoom seems to be better. i know how good Motorola Xoom is base on the rear end camera and the wider screen. But, new Ipad is out now! There is camera too which much better design. I believe that new Ipod would get develop much more.

When Passwords Aren't Enough: The Need for Strong Online Authentication That is Easy to... - 2 views

  •
Describe the IT terms. april 28 kuni
  •
Authentication- Authentication is the process of determining whether someone or something is, in fact, who or what it is declared to be. In private and public computer networks (including the Internet), authentication is commonly done through the use of logon passwords. Knowledge of the password is assumed to guarantee that the user is authentic. Each user registers initially (or is registered by someone else), using an assigned or self-declared password. Tokens- A Hardware Token is an Authenticator in the form of a physical object, where the user's interaction with a login system proves that the user physically possesses the object. Hardware Tokens authenticate users on the basis that only the Token assigned to the user could have generated the pseudo-random number or code response keyed in by the user. Successful entry of this code implies that the user is in physical possession of the Token. This implies that the user does not allow users to use his Token, and has not lost it. It is use to prove one's identity electronically, and it is small enough to put it in the pocket or attach to keychain. Smart Card-A card with an embedded computer chip on which information can be stored and processed. It is a plastic card about the size of a credit card, with an embedded microchip that can be loaded with data, used for telephone calling, electronic cash payments, and other applications, and then periodically refreshed for additional use. Biometric- Biometrics is the science and technology of measuring and analyzing biological data. In information technology, biometrics refers to technologies that measure and analyze human body characteristics, such as fingerprints, eye retinas and irises, voice patterns, facial patterns and hand measurements, for authentication purposes.
