  •
1.Explain what happened. Sony suffered a hack on their PC games network, which lead to theft of online user's data from its PlayStation video game network. The theft involved 77 million user information. Sony is now hiring various outside firms to investigate on the matter, and try to find the offenders to this hacking. Cyber-security detectives from Guidance Software and consultants from Robert Half International Inc's subsidiary Protviti were brought in to help with the clean-up. 2.Describe the issues. Issues from this includes the reliability and integrity, as well as the security of Sony's protection system and online user's sensitive information which include credit card numbers as well as passwords. The reliability is the reliability of Sony's software. It might have failed to function properly, thus being a loop hole of the hackers to get through. The integrity is keep users' data complete and unaltered without their permission by the hackers. There is also a privacy issue because user's sensitive data was stolen.

BBC News - Apple acts on iPhone tracking bug - 1 views

  •
How does apple propose to solve the tracking program? Describe two examples of data tracking services that people use. Do you think privacy is still an issue with phones and apps? May 17 cream
  •
    1. How does apple propose to solve the tracking program? Apple released newly developed software that cuts the amount of stored data to just a week and no longer transfer it to the owner's computer when the phone is connected. And if users disable the location services setting on their iPhone or iPad, it will stop collecting data completely. 2. Describe two examples of data tracking services that people use. - Foursquare: Foursquare is a location-based social networking website based on software for mobile devices. - Mobile Me: Mobile Me automatically pushes new email, contacts, and calendar events to your iPhone, Mac, and PC. So your devices always stay in perfect sync. 3. Do you think privacy is still an issue with phones and apps? Of course yes because mobile devices are connected to networks for all the time in order to access to files and media. Privacy is always going to be an issue with phones and apps because even though Apple is storing data for shorter time, the stored data can be used or leaked anytime when threats attack.

IBM supercomputer wins first Jeopardy dust up - Computerworld - 1 views

  •
Explain how Watson can mimic human intelligence. Watson mimics human intelligence by going through the same process humans do in order to find an answer. Watsons can comprehend clues and pieces of information, analyze the information that is given, and come up with an answer to the problem. Explain the ways that computers can rival a human in answering questions. Computers are systematic machines. Humans, can also be, but in a less precise manner. Thus, computers that are given the same amount of information, and have access to a lot of background knowledge can possibly rival humans in answering questions because of the systems' advantage of sorting out pieces of information and analyzing it digitally. Humans depends on their brains, and not knowing whether they really do, or how much they analyze the data correctly or not. A computer's digital system can come up with a number of possibilities precisely and thus calculate the best conclusion to the question. Explain the ways AI can impact personal lives. With the help of AI, human needed jobs such as diagnosing problems and illness, self-service centers, and information center tasks can be given to the AIs. Also, this can enhance humans personal lives by offering the humans an extra helping hand, that isn't as emotional as humans, and can be just as effective as well as useful, albeit the cost will be very high. Why was Jeopardy a good challenge? Jeopardy is a good challenge because of the structure of the Jeopardy game itself. The game itself only provides sly clues, riddles mixed with sarcasm and irony. Humans can detect such facts in the clues, but for a machine, as well as the system to be able to recognize these clues as well as reading in between the words to understand the meaning for an answer is a challenge. The system would have to be taught the same way humans are taught to notice such abnormalities of the hints. This is harder to teach an AI since it doesn't follow the same path of instruction

Explain what the cyber security plan is designed to do. Why is this a critical issue? May 17 alec
  •
It is designed to stop the U.S.A. from being attacked cyberly like from hackers, criminals, and spies. It is a critical issue because if someone hacked the united states then they would be able yo launch missiles and begin a war that never should have been started also they could gain access to information that should be secret and not shared with the world.

How can iphone be hijacked? How can a user tell if she is being SMS attacked? April 26 woo

was i supposed to do this? it wasnt on the list so i didnt know...
  •
    1. How can iphone be hijacked? The experts say that what you would know when your iphone is being hijacked is when one giveaway is if you receive a text message containing a single square character. If that happens, he suggests you immediately turn off your iPhone. The iPhone can be hijacked through a series of invisible SMS message bursts that hijacks the iPhone. The attacker would then be able to control all the functions on the iPhone, as well as continue to send messages to hijack more phones. 2. How can a user tell if she is being SMS attacked? The researchers said the hack involves sending a series of mostly invisible SMS bursts that effectively hijack an iPhone. From thereon, a hacker could control all the functions on the iPhone, such as e-mailing, dialing contacts - and, most alarmingly, sending more text messages to hijack even more iPhones. A user can tell if she is being SMS attacked if they receive a message containing a square character. Prevention measures include immediately turning off your iPhone.

Amazon Goes Back to the Future With 'NoSQL' Database | Wired Enterprise | Wired.com - 1 views

Describe NoSQL and its purpose. Explain how it is used differently than MySQL. M12 jan30 az
  •
Describe NoSQL and its purpose. NoSQL is a highly scalable and reliable non-relational databases designed to maintain high performance and to be highly cost efficient for workloads of any scale, from the smallest to the largest internet-scale applications. It is also used to build a new kind of database for "unstructured" information that comes spilling off the Internet with each passing second. It is capable of handling large amounts of data du to the fact that they use flash storage rather than traditional spinning disks. These solid-state drives can provide single-digit millisecond response times. Explain how it is used differently than MySQL. MySQL database is a relational database that stores data in neat rows and columns, and it's designed to run on a single machine, while NoSQL database can store data in a more flexible way and is designed to scale across a very large number of machines. "SQL databases are like automatic transmission and NoSQL databases are like manual transmission. Once you switch to NoSQL, you become responsible for a lot of work that the system takes care of automatically in a relational database system. Similar to what happens when you pick manual over automatic transmission. Secondly, NoSQL allows you to eke more performance out of the system by eliminating a lot of integrity checks done by relational databases from the database tier. Again, this is similar to how you can get more performance out of your car by driving a manual transmission versus an automatic transmission vehicle." http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2559411/sql-mysql-vs-nosql-couchdb

  •
1.Why is cloud computing gaining widespread adoption? Cloud computing is gaining widespread adoption because cloud computing enables users to connect to corporate data and applications via online enabled devices. It offers the complexities and unique requirements of sophisticated applications, yet delivers them in less time and with lower startup costs. 2.Why is it cheaper? Cloud computing is cheaper cost when they deliver IT systems because businesses pay for only what is used and by that they could reduce the amount of cost in capital and operating cost. 3.Describe SaaS. SaaS stands for Software as a Service. Users who use services that is net-based are charged for the software they used, either as a subscription or as a pay-as-you-go basis. It is basically charging the service costs for the software that the users are utilizing. 4.Describe the Tangerine example. Tangerine is a company that sells enterprise version of Google mail and applications. These applications uses Gmail or Google's online document systems as an interface. Users who use Tangerine are charged a subscription fee for the usage of Tangerine. 5.What kind of customer does sales-force target? Salesforce is targeting people who actively use clouding computing system. Basically, it could be individual people but mostly many huge companies are using clouding computing to work efficiently. Also this system could save the money for the storage systems. 6. How does cloud computing encourage collaboration? By using user-friendly services like Facebook rather than conventional e-mail, feeds rather than memos, a touch-based system rather than a click-user interface, a push-based information system rather than pull or browse, location-based technology rather than unknown locations, and web service/HTML rather than Windows or Mac.

What does cloud computing deal with? Cloud computing deals with all the technology and support for the infrastructure of the cloud such as networking, database, storage, and management applications. Describe each of the characteristics cloud services must have. Fshared services (with standard framework and shared application programming interface (API)) - these services can be shared in order for all users to have access to them. Fstandard user interface - Web browsers to have access to the cloud services. Fself-service - Users must help themselves by self service when it comes to doing cloud services since actions are carried over the computer, not from human to human. Fservice metering - The Charge of the usage of the cloud services. Faccess over the internet - The medium of having access to the internet, as well as other places over the internet. Explain horizontal and vertical services. Horizontal Services - cloud applications, cloud storage, cloud servers, and cloud collaboration. These horizontal services are the services that are spread around horizontally as the infrastructure, and the base of the cloud service. It provides the technology and memory for clouds for example. Vertical Services - government services, cloud entertainment, cloud publishing and online ad networks, cloud healthcare, and cloud telecommunications. These vertical services are basically what we use the cloud services for, which field they are in, and how they are used. Define each layer of services. Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) - This is a service usually from outsourcing done by an organization so that the actual infrastructure to hold the storage, hardware, and other components are stored elsewhere. Why is bandwidth important? Internet bandwidth will drive the popularity of cloud services in the country, as businesses and consumers will demand more services as bandwidth increases. Speedy network reliability is needed for "megabit-per-second" services.

Nokia at the crossroads: Blazing platforms | The Economist - 1 views

  •
Explain: As microprocessors become more powerful, mobile phones are changing into hand-held computers. As a result, most of their value is now in software and data services. This is where America, in particular Silicon Valley, is hard to beat. Companies like Apple and Google know how to build overarching technology platforms. And the Valley boasts an unparalleled ecosystem of entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and software developers who regularly spawn innovative services. march 29 cream

It is all about microprocessor and how powerful it is. According to this article, it concerns with Nokia mobile phones as the company develop so much on hardware, which lack in software nowadays. In the other hand, Apple provides a really good with software, because they are mostly useful and impressive. So, now it is quite hard for Nokia to fight against this advance of Apple.

    1. Identify the area of impact the scenario relates to. The area of impact the scenario relates to the company who are selling product on security to the other company that need a security, and they got suffered. Business 2. Identify the main stakeholders to the IT system. The main stakeholders to the IT system are company and government who uses secuID 3. Describe one ITGS social/ethical concern in the article. The Data Breach in this article refers to their security system data being violated by an outside offender, such as it being stolen or copied when it's not supposed to be. The advanced cryptographic system is the security system that has an extra layer of security by an electronic token authenticator that generates a time-based number for the users to input while logging in with their password. It is suspected that the master key for the encryption algorithm was stolen, which is the huge secret number that is part of the system. 4. Describe ITGS terminology and systems. SecurID- a mechanism developed by RSA Security for performing two-factor authentication for a user to a network resource 5. If possible, describe a solution to the concern (issue). The solution for this issue is to update the security system often and try to get against from hackers. Having SecurID make up a new algorithm to be used for the system could reinforce the system's security again, if it's possible to make up a new algorithm. Other than that, SecurID would probably have to make up a whole new security system since their current stolen algorithm is probably going to be published and recopied, and the system not secure anymore.
