BBC News - Why going online on smartphones can be costly - 15 views

  •
Why might smart phones be costly? Explain two possible solutions. all Nov 23 Tik
  •
Smart phones could be costly because it's download, upload and connect to the network almost all the time. People that use smart phones and don't have good deals or promotions, and people use data more than they think, so the phone company can cost the data that we download, upload with the network, and smart phones can do many thing that use a lot of data and it will cost a lot of money, for example sending 10 photos it's take 10MBand watch video on youtube it will take 15MB per video, etc. In this case the solutions are that users should make sure that they get the right deal or promotion, that they won't get a big bill in the end of the month. Secondly, there are people that use unlimit promotion, but every deal have a gap, so the phone company should tell their customers, or send the users a messages to warning them that they used data more than the deal they got.

Google have transfer you automatically to its "encrypted" service, one designed to prevent potential "eavesdropping" on your searches. Google have use SSL( secure socket layer) to protect your search. Is can also be use when you are logging on to your bank account online. Google have introduce the SSL search, with the SSL search you can do your searches on Google with more secure and you are in private so no one can see what are you searching. Before Google URL was HTTP/www.google.com but now it is HTTPS/www.google.com. Its secure now. Google have use SSL to help protect your data from unwanted access. So what you are connected to internet café, local hotspots or hotel your data will be secure. But Google is not responsible for any viruses you get over the internet searches. The SSL will only protect your personal information.

Security tries to prevent the access by hackers. In this article, the RBA has been hacked (cyber attacked). For an example, the malware has embedded in the emails. They think it is China to blame because they thought that China has already been through a similar cyber attack, which aimed to get the information out of it. The staffs in the RBA have opened several malware emails. This malware application has managed to go through the computer system. 4. Describe ITGS terminology and systems. * Malware: Malware refers to software programs that are designed to damage or do other unwanted actions on a computer system. * Cyber Attack: Cyber attackers use malicious code to alter computer code, logic or data, resulting in disruptive consequences that can compromise data and lead to cyber-crimes (information and identity theft). * Computer Viruses: Small but insidious piece of programming-code that attacks computer and network systems through infected data files, introduced into a system via disks or Internet. 5. Describe the solution stated in the article or find a solution to the concern (issue) discussed in the article. Even though the RBA did not lose any of their information, it's better to have a safe security system/software to protect their information. The RBA needs to be more careful when opening email files, and for a better protection, they would need to find a better way to secure. I would suggest them to have an encryp

Tracking iPhone thieves prompts killswitch call - 2 views

  •
This article starts with issue of one woman losing her iPhone, which was stolen by someone who lives 20 km away from her. Since there is a app called Track my iPhone, she used this app to go after the thieve and asked for her iPhone back. Not only her who had been finding the thief herself but lots of people are doing it to avoid conflict with the police. This is causing a concern with the police officer because of the increase in phone robbery in many places and if these are gang member, it can cause life to be lost. Even though the police had devoted more resources to combat the theft, but accessibility of police is quite low. Therefore, people usually like to take action alone neglecting the danger that they might find. Therefore, police came up with further and better solution called 'kill switch'. Which automatically make your phone unavailable and unattractive to the thieves.

Gmail tips summary Basically, Gmail gives you a plenty of space to storage for example 7 gigabytes for free, which is already a lot. Even though you are running out of the space. You are able to get more spaces for just $5 per year, is quite cheap. What is so good about Gmail? The most useful feature is that you can link your other email account, AOL, Yahoo, or Hotmail right away to your Gmail, which means you do need to open up many email to check your Inbox. a) You can set up filters to skip the Inbox and go right to the folder or a trash can. b) If you happen to find some information that is quite old, Gmail uses GooGle search engine to allow you to find it easily. c) Gmail offers " canned message" You can set up a filter so that a certain type of email always gets a canned response.

People who go through full-body scans Operators controlling the scan machines 3. Identify one ITGS social/ethical concern in the article Privacy 4. Describe ITGS terminology and systems. The systems in this situation include both hardware and software. The hardware is the actual scanning machine while the software is the scanning machine's system that controls whether or not the scanned files of the people passing through are saved into the system or discarded or not. 5. If possible, describe a solution to the concern (issue). Modifying the system to remove the option of saving files could be useful because if the option to save was not present, then it can be assured that the operators do not have the ability to go against the policy. If it is a requirement for the system to need to save files, then the system should be modified to only save files that detect an abnormality that goes against the policy of the scanning. (For example if the scan shows that the person is carrying weapons etc.) Only having the authorized people to view it when it is need with stricter rules.

Why won't tablets replace PCs? Tablets are recommended, but won't replace PCs because they aren't made to carry out tasks that PCs are capable of doing. Tablets may be useful when looking at emails or searching the web, but it's not easy to use when typing up word documents. They will be handy to have it next to your PC, but it will never be your primary computer.

    1. The cloud has been around for a while  Summary about the cloud Many people are doing their own business everywhere around the world and they need something that can communicate with their customers, workers, and many other people. We call these communicating systems as Clouding. For example, currently there is phone call, emails and messaging systems are examples of clouding system. When people are using clouding system, they have to care about backup system to protect their files from losing. To have good clouding system, people need connection of Internet to send or receive their emails with cell phones or laptops. Then people should have their free email accounts like G-mail or Yahoo. Unfortunately, business user who has Google or Yahoo accounts with their company name should pay a small annual fee. These systems are all cloud. People are using clouding computing already.

Why might some people want to use tablets? They are lighter and easier to carry around than PCs and easier to control because it is touch screen so you don't need a mouse to control the cursor, and just touch the screen. It may not be good for typing up documents, but they are easy for online searches as you don't need to sit down, open the laptop and search, but just do it on the spot.

    summary march 29 nat
  •
Summarise: Facebook is one of the biggest social network that is used by millions of users worldwide, but recently it has been getting complaints about its security and privacy. Therefore, Facebook is clarifying their policy on User Identification Data, because third party companies are not allowed to share the UIDs it collects to ad networks. Facebook modified its policy to forbid UIDs from leaving third-party applications and for such information to remain confidential. Ad networks had to sign a policy deal to make sure that they delete any information they obtain. Any who break this policy get placed on moratoriums, and will be observed, so that they don't do it again. Not only were the small developers effected, but also big companies such as Zynga were also caught transmitting some information.

Describe one ITGS social/ethical concern in the article. Security is the main issue in this article since it is dealing with worms, which infects and damage computer files. 4. Describe the relationship of the main stakeholders to the IT system. The main stakeholder, Facebook, is combating Koobface worm, which is, a malware (malicious software) to prevent it from infecting its users PC. 5. Explain the relationship between the IT system and the social/ethical issue identified in question 3. Koobface worm is a malware that could infect Facebook's users' computer, which is a security issue. It is estimated that the group earned more than $2 million from June 2009 to June 2010 by delivering the victims of its worm to unscrupulous marketers and makers of fake antivirus software. 6. Discuss at least one problem that relates to the impacts of the social/ethical issue. A Koobface attack starts with an invitation to watch a video and a message about updating the computer's Flash software. Clicking to get the update begins the download of Koobface, which gives criminals control of the computer, while the worm tries to spread itself further through the victim's social network contacts. Top 10 Google Products You Forgot All About - 1 views

Which would you use? march 17 kuni

I would use Google Sketchup, because this is one of the applications that I have on my computer. Google Sketchup is a software with which you can make a 3D model easily. Compared to the other 3D modeling software, Google Sketchup is easier to use. It has some tutorials for beginners, and you will find out how easy it is to create 3D model like a kid making a tower of blocks. Also, if you buy it, you will be able to convert it to a file that can be used for other 3D modeling software and modding games. I would use Google Trends just to see what's trending and Flight simulator in Google earth sounds pretty fun for when you're bored. I would use ; Google Page Creator, Flight simulator in Google Earth, and SketchUp. I would use the fight simulator, because it looks fun, and SketchUp mainly because I've always wanted to do some sort of graphics design on the computer. -In my opinion I would like to use Google SketchUp, and Google Book Search. First of all Google Sketch Up is helping me to make 3-D model. This is very useful in art class because when we have something like installations, we need some sketch of location and installation therefore by this program, I can draw 3-D installation and see how it looks like therefore this program is very useful for me. Also For the Google Book Search, this is kind of digital library which I can find book very easily and efficiently. I can see the books by this program also I can upload by own books which I can scan it. Therefore it might be very useful when I have something like writing essays. I would use Google Page creator. It enables to me create a page where I can find snippets of web pages, quotes, and images all over the web.

Sue Describe BGP. How does the BGP affect ISPs? Feb 4
  •
 Describe BGP - BGP is the border gateway protocol, the protocol at the core of the internet's routing mechanism. BGP performs interdomain routing in Transmission-Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) networks. BGP is an exterior gateway protocol (EGP), which means that it performs routing between multiple autonomous systems or domains and exchanges routing and reachability information with other BGP systems. - Control the pathways  How does the BGP affect ISPs? - BGP glues all ISPs and their large customers together to form the Internet. Besides traditional routing, BGP also supports routing for new IP services such as Multiprotocol Label Switching Virtual Private Network (MPLS VPN). - Without BGP information provided by Egyptian networks, the rest of the world has no way to connect with the country's ISPs or its Web sites. Nor do its citizens have a way to reach sites or services beyond its boundaries. - "The Egyptian government has instructed the ISPs whether state owned or sate licensed, to withdraw their BGP announcements that tell other routers how to reach those ISPs" -

Libya turns off the Internet and the Massacres begin | ZDNet - 3 views

  • Now, though, realizing that they could no longer hide their abuses from a world a Twitter tweet away, the new model autocracies, such as Libya and Bahrain have realized that they need to cut their Internet links before bringing out the guns.
  • As in Bahrain, Libya’s Internet is essentially owned and controlled by the government through a telecommunication company Libya Telecom & Technology
  • Mobile phone services in Libya are also under the control of the government. So far though the government doesn’t seem to have cut international phone services off-perhaps because that’s harder to do without cutting off local telephone service.

Top level domain : A top-level domain (TLD) is one of the domains at the highest level in the hierarchical Domain Name System of the Internet. The top-level domain names are installed in the root zone of the name space. For all domains in lower levels, it is the last part of the domain name, that is, the last label of a fully qualified domain name. 5. If possible, describe a solution to the concern (issue). It is hard to suggest a solution basically because it is the government's decision to shut down the internet. Therefore the only way to solve this issue is to discourage dictatorship in Libya. Main reason for the shut down of the internet was the cooperation of Libya Telecom & Technology which is owned by the dictator's son.
