    1. Explain the issues that are in common with both Amazon and Sony? Issues that are in common with both Amazon and Sony are their reliability and integrity as well as its security. Amazon has just revealed that its Availability Zone in northern Virginia has failed to accommodate customers that were using their services. Sony's hack incident includes its network protection system to be unreliable. Also the security of Amazon's customer's data along with Sony's online users' data is at risk, as well as sensitive information linked to bank accounts. Both Sony and Amazon suffer a setback on their online reputation. Both companies have their servers down which affect a lot of their customers using their services. They both revived worries about the safety of storing and processing data over the Internet. The two crises have also raised questions about the speed and quality of information provided by tech companies when confronted with systems failures. This further links to the data integrity. Amazon users have said that some data may be corrupted or loss resulting from their sites crashing. Sony's users' accounts data may have been altered by unauthorized people. 2. Explain the reasons that cloud computing will continue to grow? Cloud computing will still continue to grow despite its recent incidents because the benefits users receive outweigh the risks that come with cloud computing. The outage suffered by Amazon has been rare. Also, managing one's own network is hardly a guarantee of reliability; it costs a lot of money and is high maintenance. Cloud computing provides another alternative that can save costs for businesses. Also, the recent incidents have proven that managing one's own network is not as reliable as some think considering protection issues and failure/crashes in the network itself. 3. What could have prevented Sony from getting hacked? Sony could have increased its protection system, as well as create random simulations in orde

  •
1.Why is cloud computing gaining widespread adoption? Cloud computing is gaining widespread adoption because cloud computing enables users to connect to corporate data and applications via online enabled devices. It offers the complexities and unique requirements of sophisticated applications, yet delivers them in less time and with lower startup costs. 2.Why is it cheaper? Cloud computing is cheaper cost when they deliver IT systems because businesses pay for only what is used and by that they could reduce the amount of cost in capital and operating cost. 3.Describe SaaS. SaaS stands for Software as a Service. Users who use services that is net-based are charged for the software they used, either as a subscription or as a pay-as-you-go basis. It is basically charging the service costs for the software that the users are utilizing. 4.Describe the Tangerine example. Tangerine is a company that sells enterprise version of Google mail and applications. These applications uses Gmail or Google's online document systems as an interface. Users who use Tangerine are charged a subscription fee for the usage of Tangerine. 5.What kind of customer does sales-force target? Salesforce is targeting people who actively use clouding computing system. Basically, it could be individual people but mostly many huge companies are using clouding computing to work efficiently. Also this system could save the money for the storage systems. 6. How does cloud computing encourage collaboration? By using user-friendly services like Facebook rather than conventional e-mail, feeds rather than memos, a touch-based system rather than a click-user interface, a push-based information system rather than pull or browse, location-based technology rather than unknown locations, and web service/HTML rather than Windows or Mac.

The IT system in this article is software that lets you restore your whole system back on the old or new computer in case your computer dies. But first, you need a "bootable disk". If your computer won't start, insert the bootable disk and the operating system will find it and start up. Second, you need to backup your computer to an external hard drive or DVD before it died. Then, you can use this software called "Acronis True Image Home 2011" that put Windows and all your programs, files and settings, onto a different computer without any hardware conflicts. True Image also comes with a "Try and Decide" mode where you can try any program that is stored on your external hard drive and decide whether you want to keep it on your new computer. Acronis True Image Home also comes with online backup, which is free for 2gb and it makes a bootable disk for you.

Amazon Malfunction Raises Doubts About Cloud Computing - NYTimes.com - 2 views

Describe the two issues that came up from the technical problems that interrupted computer services provided by Amazon. Why is the cloud model gaining popularity? List the problems that companies reported. april 28 az
  •
    1) Describe the two issues that came up from the technical problems that interrupted computer services provided by Amazon. One of the issues is that Amazon need to reconsider the contracts that cover cloud services such as how much to pay for backup and recovery services, including paying extra for data centers in different locations. The reason for this is because small businesses are less apt to pay for extensive backup and recovery services. The second issue would be many companies are relying too much on remote computers that are beyond their control. So they need to reconsider that also. The technical problem that interrupted computer services provided by Amazon told its customers and users that there may be a reliability problem with Amazon's service in online computing in the cloud. Companies and businesses operation network now revolves a lot around these remote network systems, so this also affects how companies will reconsider their use of exporting their files and data as opposed to keeping them within the company walls. 2) Why is the cloud model gaining popularity? Because owning a data center is high maintenance and therefore expensive. By using the cloud model, companies are avoiding the costs and headaches of running their own data centers. They just simply tap in, over the Web, to computer processing and storage without owning the actual machines or operating software. Businesses can also save their time by outsourcing to the cloud to save having to keep track of running their own data centers. 3) List the problems that companies reported. Describe the relationship of the main stakeholders to the IT system. The main stakeholder, Facebook, is combating Koobface worm, which is, a malware (malicious software) to prevent it from infecting its users PC. 5. Explain the relationship between the IT system and the social/ethical issue identified in question 3. Koobface worm is a malware that could infect Facebook's users' computer, which is a security issue. It is estimated that the group earned more than $2 million from June 2009 to June 2010 by delivering the victims of its worm to unscrupulous marketers and makers of fake antivirus software. 6. Discuss at least one problem that relates to the impacts of the social/ethical issue. A Koobface attack starts with an invitation to watch a video and a message about updating the computer's Flash software. Clicking to get the update begins the download of Koobface, which gives criminals control of the computer, while the worm tries to spread itself further through the victim's social network contacts. This is a security breach to Facebook's users computer. When the criminals have control of the computer, they can do anything they want with it like, stealing personal information, etc. 7. Evaluate one solution that addresses the problem identified. Facebook need to step up their security for their users safety. To halt Koobface, Facebook uses algorithms that can detect suspicious posts and hijacked accounts, looking for unusual behavior like log-ins from odd places and a surge in messages sent. Facebook also keeps a blacklist of malicious Web links to prevent them from being shared on the site. When Koobface posts find a

Define: Artificial intelligence- the branch of computer science that deal with writing computer programs that can solve problems creatively; "workers in AI hope to imitate or duplicate intelligence in computers and robots" Turing test- The Turing test is a proposal for a test of a machine's ability to demonstrate intelligence. It proceeds as follows: a human judge engages in a natural language conversation with one human and one machine, each of which tries to appear human. All participants are placed in isolated locations. Why is a Jeopardy-playing computer considered such a huge advance in AI? Because Jeopardy represents a next generation on AI that advancements in artificial intelligence and natural language processing that overcome the formidable challenge of conveying the same information in many different ways. The supercomputer owes that significance to its ability to deliver more than calculations and documents. This kind of ability makes this machine more equipped than any before it to systematize "thoughts" and converse.

What does cloud computing deal with? Cloud computing deals with all the technology and support for the infrastructure of the cloud such as networking, database, storage, and management applications. Describe each of the characteristics cloud services must have. Fshared services (with standard framework and shared application programming interface (API)) - these services can be shared in order for all users to have access to them. Fstandard user interface - Web browsers to have access to the cloud services. Fself-service - Users must help themselves by self service when it comes to doing cloud services since actions are carried over the computer, not from human to human. Fservice metering - The Charge of the usage of the cloud services. Faccess over the internet - The medium of having access to the internet, as well as other places over the internet. Explain horizontal and vertical services. Horizontal Services - cloud applications, cloud storage, cloud servers, and cloud collaboration. These horizontal services are the services that are spread around horizontally as the infrastructure, and the base of the cloud service. It provides the technology and memory for clouds for example. Vertical Services - government services, cloud entertainment, cloud publishing and online ad networks, cloud healthcare, and cloud telecommunications. These vertical services are basically what we use the cloud services for, which field they are in, and how they are used. Define each layer of services. Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) - This is a service usually from outsourcing done by an organization so that the actual infrastructure to hold the storage, hardware, and other components are stored elsewhere. Why is bandwidth important? Internet bandwidth will drive the popularity of cloud services in the country, as businesses and consumers will demand more services as bandwidth increases. Speedy network reliability is needed for "megabit-per-second" services.

  •
drive-by downloads Drive-by downloads are downloads to the computer that are harmful, and are downloaded because the user doesn't know that the download took place, what was downloaded (virus, malware) or downloaded something, but didn't know it was malware. When a malicious website is visited, malware may be downloaded to the computer without users even knowing. Solutions to prevent drive-by downloads include having the internet security suite (like Norton Internet Security) installed and kept up to date. Also, using a proxy can filter the web content (like Vidalia). The user's antivirus firewall should always be turned on. http://www.softwarenewsdaily.com/2010/12/drive-by-downloads-malware-installed-without-your-knowledge http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/794101/how_to_prevent_driveby_downloads_.html Clickjacking Clickjacking, also known as user-interface (UI) redressing, is one of the most common attacks against users by creating malicious pages that tricking users to click on buttons and links which reveal sensitive information, or can allow the attacker to take over control of the user's computer. The true function of the button is hidden under an opaque layer that shows something different to trick the users. A possible solution to clickjacking is the "walled garden" that iPhone has. It has a closed or exclusive set of information services provided for users, instead of allowing open access to apps and content. https://www.owasp.org/index.php/Clickjacking Targeted brand attacks on social networks Targeted brand attacks on social networks is attacking the big brand names, and attacking its reputation, currently common through attacks on social networks and phishing. Scammers that hijacked a social networking account can add random people to their friends list, and link them to malicious sites. Or an attacker would disguise themselves as the "official" profile of the brand company, and make friends and trick them into revealing sen

Explain how Watson can mimic human intelligence. Watson mimics human intelligence by going through the same process humans do in order to find an answer. Watsons can comprehend clues and pieces of information, analyze the information that is given, and come up with an answer to the problem. Explain the ways that computers can rival a human in answering questions. Computers are systematic machines. Humans, can also be, but in a less precise manner. Thus, computers that are given the same amount of information, and have access to a lot of background knowledge can possibly rival humans in answering questions because of the systems' advantage of sorting out pieces of information and analyzing it digitally. Humans depends on their brains, and not knowing whether they really do, or how much they analyze the data correctly or not. A computer's digital system can come up with a number of possibilities precisely and thus calculate the best conclusion to the question. Explain the ways AI can impact personal lives. With the help of AI, human needed jobs such as diagnosing problems and illness, self-service centers, and information center tasks can be given to the AIs. Also, this can enhance humans personal lives by offering the humans an extra helping hand, that isn't as emotional as humans, and can be just as effective as well as useful, albeit the cost will be very high. Why was Jeopardy a good challenge? Jeopardy is a good challenge because of the structure of the Jeopardy game itself. The game itself only provides sly clues, riddles mixed with sarcasm and irony. Humans can detect such facts in the clues, but for a machine, as well as the system to be able to recognize these clues as well as reading in between the words to understand the meaning for an answer is a challenge. The system would have to be taught the same way humans are taught to notice such abnormalities of the hints. This is harder to teach an AI since it doesn't follow the same path of instruction
