A site to create interactive posters, or search the gallery for a pre-made poster with the topic of your choosing. Students can use this site for a fact page on a certain topic. Teachers can use it to introduce content vocabulary, would make a great PWIM poster. I used it to introduce myself with links and other images.

ShowMe Interactive Whiteboard on the App Store on iTunes - 1 views

  •
Even though this app only works on iPads, I consider it a Web 2.0 tool as well because recorded "ShowMe's" are accessible on your computer. Similar to Educreations, it is an interactive whiteboard. I've used with with elementary students to create social stories. I use my iPad to take a picture of them doing the preferred activity, then have them voice record their own description. Very effective with children with autism!

I think this would be a great change of pace from the typical poster. I did see that if you wanted yourself and a class that it would cost money, but the free trial was only available to teachers. However, you can search for completed projects and use that if it is public. I think if you were trying to use this for a free resource then it is more beneficial for the teacher because it would be an additional teaching resource.

An alternative to the standard poster or other presentation tools. This is a highly interactive and customized digital poster board. Teachers are able to set up student accounts that are linked to their teacher account for FREE!

An interactive way to assess students through ipads, iphones, androids and more!
  •
Britta, I think this is a great resource for teachers to use as a bell ringer or quick formative assessments during class. I could see this being a problem if the district is not 1:1 or if not ALL students have a smartphone to participate. I feel the students would think this was pretty cool. When I taught in a district that had clickers, the students loved seeing the results up on the board! I think they took ownership in it, which made them more engaged.

This looks like a great tool to use in my classroom. It would be a quick way to assess students on a topic before moving on. This tool is clearly geared towards teachers. It can help them to quickly grade quizzes that are easy but tedious to correct such as true/false and multiple choice. I would like to play around with this a bit more and see if there are discussion opportunities with it. My students use Poll Everywhere to have discussions or answer polls, but the results are posted for everyone to see. I like that the tools grades the quizzes and posts the results to a spreadsheet format. That would be such an efficient way to grade. This is much more user friendly than other automatically graded quizzes like Flubaroo. Thanks for sharing!

A few teachers in my building use secretive and have shared it in professional development sessions. It looks very easy to use and seems like something students would be very easily engaged with. Great resource for teachers to use with students. It would be just as easy for students to design questions and present as a quiz or dipstick check for understanding after a presentation or some other in class assignment. My school uses Promethean boards so we have this same capability built into that technology with the Active Votes or Active Expressions. I can also see this being something you could do with the poll feature on Edmodo. I think there are more and more resources out there in this style. I agree with Kayla that this is MUCH easier to use than Flubaroo, even though that is a very useful tool as well.

Mission US | THIRTEEN - 0 views

This simulation has 3 chapters to it. It allows students to make decisions as if they were a person during that event. It has revolutionary war, civil war, and settling the west as missions. Students learn a great deal about the event while interacting with the characters and the primary sources. There is also a game functionality with it as well.

Brain breaks kids love - GoNoodle - 0 views

This site allows teachers to have an organized list of brain breaks for kids. The site is interactive and kids choose an avatar that builds as they do more activities.

I am on the Blue Zone Committee for the building, and this looks like a valuable resource for me. Brain Breaks are very useful with 4th graders. Have you tried looking up "Just Dance" Videos on Youtube? I have a collection saved to my personal youtube channel called, "Brain Breaks." http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLUN_fyIUtwFrGc-c0f-E7Ai14fW0WTeIk

Educreations - Teach what you know. Learn what you don't. - 0 views

  •
Educreations can be used with an iPad or web browser. It is an interactive white board that allows you to create and voice record video lessons. I've used it to provide students feedback by taking a screenshot of their work, then annotating and recording my thoughts. I've also used it to flip a lesson and to provide lessons when my class is cancelled for weather. There is no such thing as a snowday with Educreations!

Skype in the classroom - Skype in the classroom - 2 views

  •
Skype in the classroom gives students and teachers a free and safe way to communicate with other students, educators, authors, or others who want to have input in the classroom!
  •
I didn't know this existed! As Skype accounts are so prevalent, I could see as a teacher using this to Skype with a sister classroom somewhere else in the country (or world!) for project collaboration. Also it would be useful for interacting with an 'expert' in the field somewhere, using their desktop or smartphone Skype app. Other possibilities are Facetime, Google Hangout, and Zoom, but I believe Skype is the easiest one to configure.
