This web 2.0 tool is a great tool to use to communicate with parents and students via text messaging.  We continually talk of the need to meet students/parents where they are at with today's most commonly used forms of communication. I think this is perfect tool to use to connect with them.

Free Technology for Teachers: Teach Your Monster to Read Helps Kids Learn to Read - 1 views

  •
This is an interesting free game to help young children to read. I am going to try this with my son who just turned 6 and is starting to learn to read. Claims to be the only site like this available but I haven't verified that. Great for teachers or parents. Adults sign up and add kids; kids are issued on password and parent/teacher can view progress.
  •
I have signed up for this site but have not had a chance to use it with my 5 year old yet. Looks like it has some great possibilities. I love the Free Technology for Teachers Blog as well, I have found many great things on there such as the StoryKit App for the iPad.

This site has a lot of resources...including the Teach Your Monsters to read. Great resource for ways to include technology in your curriculum.

This is an awesome resource for web 2.0's to use in the classroom. It has a lot of great ideas for multiple uses. Great Post Amy.

I have came across this resource before as well and seemed to really enjoy it. I really enjoyed how it incorporated mobile tools, community tools, as well as presentation tools. I feel this is a very beneficial tool in which I could use in my future classroom. Another thing that I really enjoyed about this resource was the fact that it not only targeted teachers, but also included admins, parents, and students as you mentioned. Great find!

I have explored this site before. It is a good one, in my opinion! It has many great resources for teachers and students. I really like how it has specific links to all Web 2.0 tools. This would be very efficient for busy teachers who need resources about technology and how to incorporate it into lessons. I have not come across any other site that highlights all the major components of Web 2.0 tools.

Create Surveys Here! - 0 views

This web 2.0 tool has multiple possibilities. Here's just a couple I've thought of: 1) your students are doing a research project and 2) you want to connect with your students and/or students' parents. Easy, efficient, and technology based.

Surveymonkey is a flexible, effective tool that can be used in a variety of settings. In addition to using it in the classroom and as a tool to reach out to parents, it could also be used administratively for research and strategic planning purposes.
  •
Surveymonkey is flexible, and easy to use. Although when using it for a kiosk station you need to pay for a subscription fee but worth all the hassle. Another substitution is google forms too.
  •
We have used Surveymonkey here at school, easy to build and deploy. Great tool.

Great resource for ideas and collaborating with other educators regarding the use of iPads in education through blogs, tips, discussions, and videos. Great job on your "QR Code Crime Scene" video you posted to the Ning!!! Excellent example of what is possible!! I joined the Ning and will share this with teachers using iPads in our school.

Do agree or disagree that the resource can be used efficiently in your own future classroom? Explain why or why not. I agree that this resource could be used efficiently in my classroom. I have an iPad in my classroom and this website gives great ideas of apps to use. Do you believe the resource is mostly for teacher use, student use, or both? Explain your perceptions constructively. I believe the resource is mostly for teacher use but allows teachers to find apps for student use. Teachers can find resources, download them, and then allow students to use them. Are you aware of any simililar resources that should be considered? If so, what are those resources. Yes, I have also seen websites that provide lists of apps and have included them in my own library.

This is a great resource and one that totally is worth checking out! This is for sure a tool that can be used in the classroom. It is chalked full of great ideas and awesome tools to use in the classroom. This is mainly a tool for teacher use, but it could also be a resource for students looking for a different way to complete a project. There are many different uses of such an amazing ning like this! There are some great other Nings out there, Facebook pages, groups on LMS sites like Schoology, and other websites out there that are similar. This one is unique because of the Ning platform for sure!

iPad technology is a new teaching tool will be used by teachers in classrooms. if will be very beneficial for both teachers and students
  •
I thought this resource was great and thought provoking for the educator that has access to i pads in the classroom. Not only could educators use this source but parents as well. I also agree with Randon that it has student uses as well. I agree with Randon as well that many other resources and social media pages such as facebook and twitter are available, however the creation of this site gives a different navigational system to explore.

Very nice table that tells which ELA common core standards are covered in each 3rd grade story in the Houghton Mifflin basal.  EXCELLENT resource for those of us just starting to use standards based grading and the core!!!
  •
Very cool table that lays out the curriculum for students, parents and other teachers. I hope the school I end up in has a lay out of the standards that they want ot cover in there school.

A great education blog from an awesome source - CNN.  Good articles abound on this website and are easily categorized into columns as well.

If you don't yet follow this blog on Twitter or Facebook then you should! Always some great stuff about education, schools, and well written overall. An awesome resource for a good Sunday morning read.

This site is a great resource to help keep up on what is going on in education at all levels. I especially liked the recent article entitled, "5 Things Teachers Want Parents to Know". I really don't think this site is just for teachers but I think teachers will be the ones to use the site most. Teachers are very busy and don't always have time to read several news feeds to get our educational news, so its nice that its all right here.

Verbal Victor app - 0 views

  •
Father creates app to help his young child living with Pitt Hopkins Syndrome (delay in motor skills and speech) communicate. The app is available on Apple's iTune's store and there is a link to the app in the article.
  •
App allows user to push buttons that come in the form of pictures. By pushing buttons the students needs will be verbalized. Parents, teachers, friends, and etc. voices can be recorded so the verbalized needs are personalized and familiar.
