This website creates word clouds and is often used to begin concept mapping or brainstorming. Students can list words that connect with each other and create a visual. Word clouds can be altered by size of the words, color, and shape.

Thank you Kelsey for posting this, I've seen these word clouds on websites and other places but didn't know how to make them. Now I don't have to look any further. I think this resource will be something that I could use in my classroom. It may be a tool used so students can see what words they use most in their writing or for a poetry unit. It is definitely something that I can see myself using for graphic works, either on a blog, yearbook page, or poster. This is something that I feel both students and teachers can use, but mostly students. I know there are similar sites out there, but not sure what they are.

I love this cite to do word wall words and other things. I used it a great deal last year but had forgotten about it. It is not only a good resource for the teacher but the kids love it to. Thanks for refreshing my memory on this site.

I thought this resource was great and thought provoking for the educator that has access to i pads in the classroom. Not only could educators use this source but parents as well. I also agree with Randon that it has student uses as well. I agree with Randon as well that many other resources and social media pages such as facebook and twitter are available, however the creation of this site gives a different navigational system to explore.

This is a great resource for teachers and students in the classroom. The more resources that we have the greater the level of learning can be. Teachers and students will benefit for this resource. Thanks for sharing

A great source for collaborative tools for both teachers and students. One of the coolest parts of GFE is the lesson plan search!! Can easily search for what you're looking for in a lesson plan and come up with many ideas and outlines to get you started.

Google for Educators is a very good tool for teachers to use, i liked the way it organized, it is easy to research and find what you want, classroom videos are awesome tools to use.

Great resource to use with students learning about copyright and fair use. This video is a fun way to approach a complex topic and start some great conversations in the classroom!

Do agree or disagree that the resource can be used efficiently in your own future classroom? Explain why or why not. I agree that this would be a great resource for the classroom. This is a very engaging way to teach the concepts and rules of copyright in a way students can relate to. Do you believe the resource is mostly for teacher use, student use, or both? Explain your perceptions constructively. This resource is mostly for student use. It allows students to understand copyright that is on their level and is engaging for students. Are you aware of any simililar resources that should be considered? If so, what are those resources. I have not seen any resources similar to this.

For all of the online students, here is a list of Apps that may be of use for you! These apps are especially helpful for high school and college students who always seem to have their cell phone with them. I especially like Wolfram Alpha. If you haven't tried it, you should!

This is a great tool to use in order to show your students how to get started on their own blogs.  I would use this with older students in order to get them started on sharing different ideas that they might have with each other.

A very effective way to formatively assess student learning. Very engaging for students today.

this is motivating for both students and teachers as the teachers can check the comprhension levels of their class, and the students can use their phone or computer to text/send their response. Very easy to use.

Great tool to help with discussions to avoid sidebars. Allows students to make comments or ask questions that can be addressed at a later.

I used this tool, in addition to Twitter, for technology training to introduce the idea of backchannels for K-12 administrators. They loved it.

I think this could effectively be used in a virtual classroom in my future because my students could get on with their presentation, have it available for viewing by me and his or her classmates, and I can get on and edit it if needed. I believe this resource is for both teacher and student use, as students must get on with their presentations, or the teacher could, and they could make comments and give feedback on one anothers' work. This reminds me a lot of Adobe Connect!

This blog lists top documentary films for teachers or students to watch. Teachers can use these documentaries as a means of providing more information to students. The documentaries may not be suitable for all ages.

This site could have great potential, especially for high school science and social studies classes, based on the topics of the movies listed. It is great that you can watch the documentaries immediately and for free. Students might find this a useful resource for another type of research materials for projects. In my subject areas, I wouldn't use most of these, because we usually need to watch things in the target language, but some of the cultural topics might be relevant, such as some French speaking African countries, art, etc. I haven't ever thought to look for free documentaries online, I suppose there are more sites to check out!

Wow, what a great site. This is something that I think can really come in handy. There are often times when I or my fellow teachers are looking for something to help expand understanding or make connections with something they are learning. There is a large variety of categories to pick from and not just science and social studies. I think this definitely is a site for teachers, but I could see students using this site too for school projects. I'm going to be passing this one onto my fellow teachers. This is YouTube's free video editing Web 2.0 program.  Students and teachers could use this to create and store online media for classes.  Many schools have Google accounts for their students that could be used to access the YouTube video editor as long as administrator provided the proper permissions.  This could also be a free alternative to programs districts must pay for like iMovie or WeVideo.

I know someone else already posted this, but it was such a great find (and I did not know it existed!!) that I had to bookmark it for myself. I am posting this for totally selfish reasons, and not for use with my students exclusively. Although, I am sure I could use this editor to enhance instructional videos, or my students could use it to enhance videos they may create as projects. Currently, I'm excited to use it for myself, for current class projects. =X

This website allows classes to connect and collaborate with each other.  Students and educators are able to access their homework, share content, and check their grades on this site.  I would use this for all subjects in order to keep in touch with students whenever they need me.

I really enjoyed exploring this website. I really like the fact that it is a secure website. We sometimes find websites in which can lead us to false information or unwanted information so I feel that this one is one that I would feel safe about including in my own classroom. Thank you for sharing.

Edmodo provides teachers and students a secure place to connect and collaborate.

The first paragraph says it all. Three sites that have great ideas for hands on activities for kids. Appropriate for an age level. My kids love "How Stuff Works."

This is an excellent list of 100 blogs written by high school teachers. Many interesting blogs that would interest anyone in education and especially middle/high school educators. Blogs cover various educational topics and there is definitely something for everyone!

Randon, I'm sure I'll end up following quite a few. Unfortunately I haven't had time to delve too deeply into the list. It is on my to do list though! :)

Excellent source for teachers. I shared this with our English teacher who does things with blogs and wiki's in her classroom. She was very excited for new material to use. There are many different and unique topics in this site which she had never seen before.

Google Earth is an instructional tool that I use often as a social studies teacher.  However, it can be used across content areas.  For example, it can be used to highlight the geographic connections to the settings of novels, or to take students on virtual field trips to science museums.

I agree with you that this is a great tool that is something that can really enrich student learning. I can definitely see myself at most grade levels using this tool one way or another. I would be interested in experimenting more with the program and finding creative ways to implement it into lessons.

I really enjoy using Google Earth in the classroom. The capabilities of Google Earth and Google Maps (especially with the most recent update) give my students a chance to see places they may never get to see in their lives. I think we are going to spend more time focusing on the use of Google Earth or Maps in my upcoming Global Studies classes.

Collaborize Classroom is an online Web2.0 tool that allows teachers to facilitate and create distributed learning communities for their classes.  This is a forum for students to blog on questions from class and extend their learning beyond the classroom.

Hmmm, have never heard of this before, but I like the look of it! I think it's great that a site like this can offer a UDL twist to online work for students, while also cutting down on grading time for the teacher. As a TA this semester, I have finally seen firsthand the incredible amount of time that goes into grading! I never understood why teachers hated it so much, but...I do now! I'm sure most web 2.0 classroom discussion tools have this sort of tracking feature for grading purposes (like ELearning here at UNI, for example). I love that this is a free tool! I do wonder how successfully students would utilize threaded discussion or other online learning environments such as this one in K-6 environments. I think it would be fun to experiment with and perhaps do some serious research and publishing on the results of such an experiment. All about being a teacher-researcher, and this is certainly something I could see myself trying to bring into my own classroom, especially if I was ever teaching in a flipped classroom environment...

I like the setup of Collaborize Classroom and definitely see the advantages of using it in the classroom. Unfortunately, I think our students are overwhelmed with new LMS systems, web 2.0 tools, and websites that they would probably not be very receptive to this site. If CC was easily integrated into a LMS interface, then I would consider using it, but at this point I will keep it on my radar for future use.

Free, quick, simple video conferencing.

I think this resource could definitely be used efficiently in my own future classroom because it is a way for my students to keep in touch with those from other school all around the world. I believe the resource is for both students and teacher use, because the teachers need to be able to get on it to make sure it is safe for the students, and the students can get on to interact with other students from other classrooms all around the world. This is almost like Skype! I really liked this resource.

This web 2.0 tool is a great tool to use to communicate with parents and students via text messaging.  We continually talk of the need to meet students/parents where they are at with today's most commonly used forms of communication. I think this is perfect tool to use to connect with them.

I have came across this resource before as well and seemed to really enjoy it. I really enjoyed how it incorporated mobile tools, community tools, as well as presentation tools. I feel this is a very beneficial tool in which I could use in my future classroom. Another thing that I really enjoyed about this resource was the fact that it not only targeted teachers, but also included admins, parents, and students as you mentioned. Great find!

I have explored this site before. It is a good one, in my opinion! It has many great resources for teachers and students. I really like how it has specific links to all Web 2.0 tools. This would be very efficient for busy teachers who need resources about technology and how to incorporate it into lessons. I have not come across any other site that highlights all the major components of Web 2.0 tools.

If you haven't heard of Khan Academy I definitely think it's worth checking out. I'm under the impression that it is popular for many, many students. Who knows, maybe your students will be visiting this website that delivers free lessons on a variety of subjects! Even better, maybe it will you help create content specific knowledge.

This website is great our students visit either the app or website on a daily basis. Its just not for math, we have students looking up science and english. Its also a great resource if you are thinking of flipping your classroom.
