ICT for (I)nspiring (C)reative (T)hinking - 3 views

  •
This weeks task on EDC3100 involving The Decoding Learning report gave me some inspiration about my reasons for using ICT... Creativity in my drama class is something that ICTs will definitely help with I think. This link shows the relationship between ICT and inspiring creative thinking. Uni computers wont allow me to use my diigo toolbar on this piece so I cannot make highlights or annotations unfortunately.

  •
In response to my own question on twitter earlier, there are indeed programs that allow students to develop their own Apps, thanks to a quick google search. I think this would be a great introduction to the classroom to extend creativity and learn basic knowledge and skills to become innovative creators in the future

The Australian Curriculum - 1 views

  •
ACARA's implementation of the Australian Curriculum will enable students an equal and enriching education throughout the nation. As a future educator and studying for the past 4 years education, it is enlightening to know that in the near future, Australia as a nation will have one type of education for all states. The Australian Curriculum will enable teachers to travel throughout Australia, be able to provide students with a consistent learning experience, and will endeavor to advance and push students in a positive direction. I am all for the Australian Curriculum and am excited to know that this is the way that education is heading. The equality of the Australian Curriculum not only for educators as well as students, but for parents, knowing that their children will benefit from equal learning opportunities. The Learning Areas for the Australian Curriculum currently include: English, Mathematics, Science and History. General capabilities, a key dimension of the Australian Curriculum, are addressed explicitly in the content of the learning areas. They play a significant role in realising the goals set out in the Melbourne Declaration on Educational Goals for Young Australians (MCEETYA 2008) - that all young people in Australia should be supported to become successful learners, confident and creative individuals, and active and informed citizens. The Australian Curriculum includes seven general capabilities: Literacy Numeracy Information and communication technology (ICT) capability Critical and creative thinking Personal and social capability Ethical understanding Intercultural understanding. http://www.australiancurriculum.edu.au/File/C26D8605-FAA2-4B40-BE10-A15500EE1EB6. Accordingly, the Australian Curriculum must be both relevant to the lives of students and address the contempor

Early Childhood Blog promoting outdoor 'free range' play and pedagogy
  •
A very informative blog about preschool, play, early childhood education, learning outdoors, play outdoors, children and nature and play activities specific to kindergarten.
  •
I follow this group on Facebook and love seeing all,of their post. They post ideas and believes that should just be second nature to all childhood teachers though sadly are not. Play really does hold such an important role in the learning of young children, whether it is using the natural environment or ICT resources, allow children to be children and enjoy their childhood and let them learn naturally not through over processed activities designed by teachers that just need to meet paper work requirements.

This blog is full of fantastic ideas, resources and creativity for early childhood teachers, and pre service teachers.

    1. Interesting to me in a sense that this teacher uses a lot of creative resources in her classroom, incorporates ICT's (the wide web) to share with other teachers - which is helpful in a sense of gathering knowledgable and creative resources. Gives lots of insights into the classroom, and shares life as a teacher - and the resources she uses for her students in the classroom.

Down under teacher is an Australian teacher's blog if the title has not gave it away for you. It appears to be particularly focused towards the Early Primary setting. She also experienced great difficulty getting in touch with other Australian teachers so you will find she has created a tab and encouraged other Australian teacher's to come forward with the names of their blogs.

Down Under Teacher: Aussie Blogs - 10 views

  •
Hi all - this blog has been created by an Australian teacher, she has compiled a list of other Aussie teachers and some of the creativity that these guys have is amazing. While a lot is to do with the younger years and not a lot of ICTs, it's a great way to share creative ideas to keep children engaged. I thought it was worth the mention!

I often get emails asking if I know of other Aussie blogs. I know how hard it can be to find them - when I started my blog, I couldn't really find any other Aussies at all! I called my blog Down Under Teacher in the hope that I would connect with other Aussies.

Geographical Association - Why use ICT to enhance learning and teaching at Key Stage 4? - 1 views

  • The effective use of ICT allows for the development of highly creative and inspirational learning and teaching resources and activity programmes.
  • It is a dynamic medium which, when used appropriately by students and teachers, can significantly reinforce and deepen geographical knowledge and understanding.
  • Allows students to collect, display, communicate and evaluate findings in a highly creative and personal fashion. Supportive of independent learning.

Stephen Heppell: Racing to the Future - Total Learning - Education - Browse - Big Ideas - ABC TV - 2 views

  •
I caught this last night on ABC program Big Ideas. It is from the Melbourne 2013 Creative Innovations conference and is of Stephen Heppell talking about changing the way we teach and learn. Most of the videos from the conference are available to watch and I'd recommend trying to see at least the 'education' related ones.
