    Although there were a lot of unexpected moments of success when integration ICT, the most challenging and rewarding moments were when ICT failed to be useful in lessons. On a few occasions there were technical issues that limited the amount of content visible to students on the Interactive Boards, which as a result made it difficult to use ICT and required using a whiteboard and handouts instead. Students during ICT enriched lessons responded positively at all times to the lesson and appeared to enjoy the visible interaction with ICT.
    ICT was a support saviour however in other ways when the lessons were not able to run using the Interactive Board whilst in the lessons. Allowing students to have access to the lesson content on the school database meant that students were still able to access the work for the lesson. Students stated that this was beneficial to their learning as they would be able to access this information outside of the classroom also. Students were provided with ICT generated handouts that were easy to develop and supported all aspects of learning necessary for the unit of work.

    I was actually surprised at how well students responded to the integration of ICT and how beneficial it was as an educator to produce information at gradual stages to support the students development. Step by Step work was able to be provided and this allow the lesson to have structure and for me as the teacher to have control.

    When looking at the table provided of challenges that may be faced during teaching experience or planning lessons, it was drew to my attention that two had been an issue that I have faced before on a professional experience. The two significant points were 'Students need individual reviews of missed work' and 'Concepts are new, foreign (e.g., mathematics, physics principles)'.

    During my experience of teaching advanced mathematics on my last professional experience, I had the challenge of not understanding the content enough to teach the students what they needed to learn. If I was aware that accessing resources using ICT would have been a plausible solution I would have done this right away. Although I did have supporting C2C material, this once again was not accessible through ICT. A more recent teaching experience did allow me to access graphs and manipulated diagrams to demonstrate a visual explanation to students as to why certain forumlas and rules work in mathematics. This was not only beneficial to the students, but this supported my learning emensly.

    The second point of students missing work, having access to the school database allows us, as the educator to provide the lesson content to students as well as any additional information so that the student is able to access this information and be prepared for the lesson ahead in their own time. Students having difficulties with the unit of work will also be able to reflect upon this work and to review areas they are having difficulties with.

    Whilst on my last professional experience, I was introduced to the website 'mathletics' where students were able to engage with others from throughout the country and the world to solve mathematical equations and work through tasks that supported their unit of work. This website at http://www.mathletics.com.au/, was fantastic as my mentor used it to monitor students homework completion, as homework was set on this program to encourage students to continue to study outside of the classroom. This was reflected on everyday in the lessons to ensure that students were participating.

    Although Mathletics was only available to schools that have purchased the rights to use it, this was a great way to keep students engaged in learning inside of the classroom and outside of the classroom. Students who completed their work in class early were able to continue to use this program as a form of reward, as all activities were enjoyable and fun.

    Share the results of your exploration.
    At the very least, write one blog post per topic of interest outlining your:
    * explorations, and
    It was interesting to learn more about Health and Physical Education and the role it plays in education for students as well as teachers. HPE is essential part of development for young Australian's as it provides individuals with an opportunity to learn about healthy living with the incorporation of physical exercise to support these lifestyle aspects.
    Looking at the Queensland Essential Learnings at http://www.qsa.qld.edu.au/7294.html, I was able to research how HPE was investigated in schools and what students would learn. Although HPE is identified as an important aspect to child development through school, the support and integration of ICT allows students as well as educators the opportunity to learn more about the subject. ICT is easily accessible at any time and supports a diverse, authentic learning experience for all students and teachers.

    ICT on previous professional experiences has been used to research content for lessons that may not be accessible at the school from textbooks. ICT supported the development of lessons to allow for quick and easy research and it also supported the delivery of lessons, to engage with students and provide a diverse learning experience for all.

The Australian Curriculum - 1 views

    ACARA's implementation of the Australian Curriculum will enable students an equal and enriching education throughout the nation. As a future educator and studying for the past 4 years education, it is enlightening to know that in the near future, Australia as a nation will have one type of education for all states. The Australian Curriculum will enable teachers to travel throughout Australia, be able to provide students with a consistent learning experience, and will endeavor to advance and push students in a positive direction. I am all for the Australian Curriculum and am excited to know that this is the way that education is heading. The equality of the Australian Curriculum not only for educators as well as students, but for parents, knowing that their children will benefit from equal learning opportunities. The Learning Areas for the Australian Curriculum currently include: English, Mathematics, Science and History. General capabilities, a key dimension of the Australian Curriculum, are addressed explicitly in the content of the learning areas. They play a significant role in realising the goals set out in the Melbourne Declaration on Educational Goals for Young Australians (MCEETYA 2008) - that all young people in Australia should be supported to become successful learners, confident and creative individuals, and active and informed citizens. The Australian Curriculum includes seven general capabilities: Literacy Numeracy Information and communication technology (ICT) capability Critical and creative thinking Personal and social capability Ethical understanding Intercultural understanding. http://www.australiancurriculum.edu.au/File/C26D8605-FAA2-4B40-BE10-A15500EE1EB6. Accordingly, the Australian Curriculum must be both relevant to the lives of students and address the contempor
