I discovered Virtual Tours while on prac in America. It was a great way to show my students some of Australia's sites and they loved being able to work through the images and information at their own pace. Since then I have toured museums and galleries from all over the world without even leaving my desk.

Hi Jamie, Yes for the most part this site comprises of still images and written information...I primarily chose this one to share as it provides a wide range of art galleries. With using gallery tours in my pracs I have found that the still images are easier for students to view, analyse and work through at their own pace than a video feed. There are a few video tours availbale...many can be found on the website for the specific location (I have had more luck finding American and British than Australian tours) but they are definitely worth a look at if you get the chance. http://tammyjoy.edublogs.org Tammy

the site automates the study of word lists for spelling and vocabulary. You can enter any list and VocabSpellingCity.com provides the sentences and definitions for the 20 different learning activities, including a WordSeach, HangMouse (think hangman), WordUnScramble, SpellingTest, VocabularyTest, WhichWord, MatchIt, Alphabetize, SpeedySpeller, Word-O-Rama, digital and printable flashcards, and more. Many teachers also use the site as a way to generate printables, since all of the games can also be delivered as printable worksheets

This site is really handy for help with children's spelling homework. Each week when my children get different spelling words I simply type in each word to create a list and the kids can choose from a number of different games to help them learn their words. Phiona

This site was used during my last practical experience. The teacher would create the different spelling lists and during spelling groups the students would have a chance to work on there lists at different days of the week. A very handy resources.

Site for educators created by Dairy Australia, includes a range of educational resources for educators, including lesson plans. The site has a Creative Common license applied to it.

This is a blog that provides a HUGE list of websites and ICT programs that are available to provide support for students with special needs. The list is organised into categories and subjects to help you find what you are looking for easier and each site contains a description. 

I found this site to be full of ideas and links to other sites for using technology in the classroom to promote Literacy and language there are also some ideas for teaching ESL learners with technology.

Site looks very useful. I like sites that appeal to both teachers and parents.

This site has great interactive and print resources for learning all sorts of things. I used some of these this term for lessons on seasons in a special ed setting and the students were very engaged and learnt well.

I like that this site goes from kindy to adults with math mah-jong and solitaire. A very busy site when you first open it but once you read a bot it is clear to navigate around.

The table of cotents for the "learning guide" for Gamestar Mechanic. An online site designed to help Grade 4-9 learning game design. The learning guide comes with a range of resources, including lesson plans.

Offers a description of a range of different sites and apps that may be used by learners.

A large collection of - apparently - lesson "plans" organised against the Australian Curriuclum. The site is implemented using a blog (Wordpress I think) and generates an RSS feed.

This website is extremely useful, I have just bookmarked the 'About' page as it had a quote that I wished to highlight - This site was founded to assist elementary and middle school teachers in integrating technology into the curriculum. I think that I will be using this website in years to come.
