Last week my group looked at Bloom's as a framework for designing great unit plans. We discussed how higher order thinking should be a key component of any unit plan. These resources will help you encourage higher order thinking and creativity in your units.

Talks about the origin of an idea of a "reading" club that uses Twitter, rather than physical proximity as the connection. i.e. get a group of people to read the same article at the same time and use twitter to share their insights. And the idea of including the author. Wonder how this might apply to reading/literacy in a school setting?

Research also suggests that educators help motivate students by using materials and implementing activities that students consider meaningful (Spratt, Humphreys, & Chan, 2002). As one of Pinkman's students wrote, "...once or twice a week I check my blog and then other students write comments for me, my motivation is up, usually teacher check my blog, so if I read teacher comments my teacher thought about me, my motivation up" (Pinkman, 2005, p. 20). Due to the popularity of computer and Internet technology and the growing interest in blogging, it was expected that our group of learners would also find the use of blogs in their English language study highly motivating.

Having a group of Year 10 Maths A students say this about a class would have to be the ultimate achievement. Done correctly, I think Meyer's approach combined with other techniques could achieve this.

As briefly discussed in module one it suggests that as a pre-service teacher we should consider including digital technologies to represent mental/conceptual models to assist in the learning process. I am interested to see how this may be achieved? Have you any ideas how this can be done in an inclusive classroom?

Currently I am teaching in an environment with a diverse group of students learning needs; Years 7-12. I have access to computers, IPad, Digital Projector, Internet the list goes on. E.g. Warm Ups are as a whole group on the whiteboard via the data projector and speakers. We have access to E-Books and Audio E-Books and programs like Reading Eggs for all ages.

Hi Tamara I came across a really simple concept mapping site today, which is very quick and easy to use. Bubbl.us While the same activity can be done in the student's book, so it is not transformative, it is an easy and engaging activity. Many of the students I work with as a teacher aid (mainly ASD and II) love using the computer rather than drawing and writing by hand. They can then download and save their image to their computer or google drive for later use.

The Student Blogging Challenge is just one project that aims to help school age learners connect to folk outside of the classroom. An example of ICTs being used to exchange information/communicate A new challenge runs every March and September.

Great resource for Year 1. I like the flipchart as it uses a variety of interactive experiences to engage the learner in making choices that are healthy. Some of the problems that may occur with the flipchart information is not considering other food groups and the realistic question of defining "what really is a balanced diet".

This site is really handy for help with children's spelling homework. Each week when my children get different spelling words I simply type in each word to create a list and the kids can choose from a number of different games to help them learn their words. Phiona

This site was used during my last practical experience. The teacher would create the different spelling lists and during spelling groups the students would have a chance to work on there lists at different days of the week. A very handy resources.
