Science across the World brings an international dimension to science education in schools and colleges. Students gain a global perspective on scientific issues related to their personal lives, their impacts on the environment and the varying cultural impacts of science on people in different countries.
Our children are our nation's most valuable asset. They represent the bright future of our country and hold our hopes for a better nation. Our children are also the most vulnerable members of society. Protecting our children against the fear of crime and from becoming victims of crime must be a national priority.
I have used this game a lot in secondary/middle schools to check the pupils understanding of a certain topic. The pupils have to set up their own questions, and also provide the correct answer and several false ones. The pupils enjoy it because 'They think they are just making up a game', when in fact you can look at what they are setting up and in they indeed have the knowledge to do this.
I have only used this in Year 5/6 in terms of primary school and I would probably recommended for that age group upwards.
I am really excited about this research done by Dr. Mitra. It goes to show that barriers to ICT access can be significantly minimized and all students can gain access. In this talk, Sugata Mitra will take us through the origins of schooling as we know it, to the dematerialisation of institutions as we know them. Thirteen years of experiments in children's education takes us through a series of startling results - children can self-organise their own learning, they can achieve educational objectives on their own, they can read by themselves.
I was recently introduced to this research and found it fascinating. I am going to try to use some of this research in my own classroom by giving children access to the technology and giving them some freedom to explore and answer questions for themselves. I am excited to see how it works out!
Professor Mitra came to Argentina as a speaker for the ESSARP Conference in 2013. Fortunately colleagues of mine had the fortune to assist and learn aboit this amazing person from which we can learn a lot!
Trust for our students is the key! Not being afraid helps as well! Allowing kids to learn through tools they feel comfortable about is a great success!

Meet Nearpod, an all-in-one solution for the use of mobile devices in education. Easily create interactive multimedia presentations to engage your audience. It works great with iPads and provides continuous feedback and reports
This is an online service that allows you to create interactive lessons with students. You can use it in "student-paced" mode or in "Live session" to have all your students engaging at the same time.
I was able to get a School License and it has been great! The free version works great too. The only limitations are the storage space and the limited file size for each presentation.
There is a Google Slide integration if you would like a more familiar experience. I like to work on Nearpod.com and import slides created in whatever software or App I'm feeling like using that day (Canva.com , Keynote , etc.).
I encourage you to try it out, it is really fun and at least my students really enjoy lessons designed on Nearpod!
I want to eliminate completely the Bloom's taxonomy. Flipping it could be interesting, however it drives teachers and policy makers to continue CLINGING to a very old paradigm and old categorization. Moreover, hierarchies belong to LINEAR THINKING, it is still a traditional way of thinking.
Thank you for the article. Completely agree with the author (about the flipping thing). Crativity-avaluation-analysis etc leads to learning - that's for sure.
This site provides you with the opportunity to create digital records of your students. The students have their own user name and password and you can use the parent email address to link them to their child records. It is awesome I am trying it out
I am really interested in E-Portfolio. So, was eager to surf the site. BUT, unfortunately, could find anything connected to creating an E-Portfolio. Sorry, if I am wrong. May be you gave a wrong reference. The one you gave opens a GAME ^((
Henry Jenkins and collaborators present in this paper ideas in how to "shift the focus of the digital-divide discourse from questions of technological access to opportunities for participation and the development of cultural competencies and social skills needed for full involvement". (Jenkins et al., 2009)

Thank you so much for this reference. I have been thinking about learning the Web 2.0 tools. Your reference "gave me a real a kick" :). Can't imagine the mordern teaching without using these wonderful tools, can't imagive a teacher witout applying them in their work. Glad that NOW I am not among "the know-nothing-about-the Web 2.0' .
Duolingo, the free, wildly popular language app, is taking its zero-ad, gamification approach to learning into the classroom today, with the launch of a new platform called Duolingo for Schools. Launched in 2012, Duolingo offers reading, listening, speaking and writing exercises split into different lessons ("skills") and levels (if you get a certain number wrong in a given level, you lose a life).
Good example of how free app available on line are helping to solve the financial factor on developing countries and improving language learning.
Create your own superhero with Marvel's Superhero Avatar Creator! Name your superhero, mix and match costumes of all your favorite Marvel characters, including Spider-Man, Iron Man and Wolverine, customize face, hair, and other features, and then post ...
Superheroes were the topic earlier in the year, for a number of schools we support. This would have been a great site for children to create their own superheroes. I'll bookmark for next time :)
Case study on the use of the game Lure of the Labyrinth with students in primary school. Provides assessment data and discusses the challenges and successes of this Department of Education Trial.
The main advantage of this tool is that the poster can be seen at any time and that it allows the integration of diferent videos, songs and so on into the poster.
This website, hosted by the Learning Technology Center in the College of Education at The University of Texas at Austin, is designed to be a central point of access to the wide range of research, projects, and other resources related to the use of mobile technologies in learning environments.
It's a free visual bookmarking tool. It helps you compile and organise sites under a specific topic. You can share your symbaloo with your students and help them navigate only on specific sites rather than the whole web. You can also add ready-made webmixes by other teachers.
I was introduced to this bookmarking tool at the beginning of the year. It is an absolutely amazing tool. Your bookmarks anywhere and on any device. love it.
