Help for Do-It-Yourself Wedding Planners - 2 views

  •
The use of wedding apps is making life easier for the frantic bride or wedding planner preparing for the big day. These apps help organize all aspects of planning. One of the most useful parts of these apps is one called task manager that allows the planner to keep up with each step of heh wedding planning through e-mail updates and scheduling calendars. It will be interesting to see if a tech savvy generation will even need people to help plan their wedding. Maybe digital wedding planners will overshadow the traditional wedding planner.Technology is changing the face of the industry and it will be interesting going forwards to see how the industry evolves over the next few years.

The task tracker seems like very useful. It not only organize the schedule, it also reduces the time that a couple may spend on planning the events and dates.
  •
It is an interesting technology which gives people faith to planning a fantastic wedding by themselves. And make it easier by utilize the "task manager". This technology may attract more customers and become a trend which bring a big challenge to the traditional wedding planners.
  •
The wedding apps are an innovative addition to prepare and organize a fantastic wedding. I agree with Xin when it comes that this technology will attract a lot of customers, but at the same time I think couples would prefer a person in charge of the wedding and why not using wedding apps to have everything under control.
  •
This is the perfect app for all those bridezillas out there. For people who have to be in control of everything this allows them to have access to the things they want. I personally would think it is a good idea on keeping things for the wedding in order but I would definitely want someone to plan the wedding and not just an app.
  •
I can see the young independent bride of the digital age welcoming this technology especially if they are on a budget. I do believe though for the high end bride as well as older couple may opt for more personal contact. These apps are great for starters. I particularly like the wedding Genius that is linked to vendors eg styles for wedding dresses ect.

From this article, I know that there are some technologies we would be used as a event planner. Technologies will help you to make the event more successfully. During the event, Twitter will add more attended.
  •
This article introduces 8 technologies that an event planner should incorporate into the event planning & organizing strategies. Most event planners typically utilize things like a big screen for main stage events or PowerPoint projectors for every breakout session at their events. Those things are important, but they are just the tip of the iceberg for event planner technology. The author stated 3 technologies to use before the event and 5 technologies. Most of them are social media based applications that we are already having in our palm. It is quite simple, yet not many of us give a great thought about it when it comes to event planning.
  •
Bing, I agree with you on these 8 technologies... however when it comes to a hotel operations, to follow all 8 is challenging due to the nature of the business and limitations.
  •
Today technology is used for practically everything. Technology runs hand-in-hand with planning events, but technology can also be utilized during the event. This article shares how to use the presence of technology to keep the audience captivated by the speaker. One of the main things the speaker should do is stop with the handouts. Switching to PDF forms or online access allows for the speaker to be assured the papers will not be lost or misplaced by the attendees. Technology also is beneficial to the interaction with the speaker. The article advocates keeping the audiences attention by using an audience response system. This allows them to input answers and be interactive. There are also a few website based companies that allow you to do this through your smartphone. They also suggest using twitter with hashtags to ask questions to the speaker. The event uses specific hashtags for audience participation. To go even further they recommend to text the speaker with any question and can get an immediate response. The use of technology enables the speaker to utilize every possible tool to get the audience to pay attention and to retain the material. It makes sure no vital information or opportunities have gone without an explanation.

The Technology You Need in Today's Meeting Industry | UniFocus - 0 views

  • According to "The Economic Significance of Meetings to the U.S. Economy", the first of its kind quantitative research-based analysis on the subject, meetings and conventions support over 1.7 million jobs throughout the U.S. alone. The 1.8 million recorded meetings and conventions held throughout the country in 2011 directly contributed an excess of $106 billion dollars to the Gross Domestic Product with all indicators pointing towards industry growth between 2012 -2020. In essence, meetings mean business…..Big Business!
  • When asked how planners prefer to communicate with their venue partners, the overwhelming response was: electronically (laptops, tablets and smartphones).
  • Planners’ opinions of the technology most important to them for choosing a meeting/event venue in 2013 yielded the following results: High Speed Wi-Fi accessibility Web Conferencing Video Conferencing Although not as important as the above, Planners also indicated that the following technologies were also of importance depending on the nature of the meeting/event: Virtual Meeting Environments Portable Audio/Visual Electronic Way-Finding Signage
  • ...2 more annotations...
  • With 83% of meeting planners agreeing that video conferencing is poised to become a must have for venues over the next 2 to 3 years, the question that arises is, “how will meetings/events be evolving in the near future?” Recognizing that the majority of planners do not believe that technological advancements are likely to reduce the need for in-person meetings, if the attitudes of meeting planners’ technological demands persist, and hotels/venues embrace higher technology, they can stay ahead of the curve.
  • It is safe to say that in today’s ever growing International Meeting and Convention Industry, venues that continue to advance their technological assets will continue to enjoy a competitive advantage over those that go without. Yet, those venues that proactively integrate their technologies with their positioning and pricing strategies will be best set to see their competitive advantages continually sustained.
  •

How Hotel/Planner Communication Is Evolving: Successful Meetings - 2 views

  •
This article begins by quickly going over new technologies that guests can interact with at leading metropolitan hotels. It then takes a turn to delve in to bringing these technologies "behind the scenes"; specifically for meeting planners. For example, the Thompson Seattle gives all their employees Itouch's equipped with Zello allowing them to quickly radio other departments and fill guests needs within minutes. What I found the most interesting was the HIlton Quebec and The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas sharing their guest text messaging interfaces with meeting planners, Event Service Managers, and Sales. Instead of Sales Managers having to chase departments around the hotel, and regularly pop into an event to make sure it was being executed correctly. The meeting planer could easily text when their event was in need. Any technology that allows us to better fulfill the needs of our guest, is worth the trial and error they may come along with.

  • An event app is basically like a dedicated social network and appointment calendar for the community of participants at a specific meeting. They can be as simple or as complex as a meeting planner wishes, with pricing to develop them ranging from a few hundred to tens of thousands of dollars.
  •
This article goes into great detail about how technology is growing within the hotel and tourism industry. The VP of American Express Meeting and Events states that new technologies are providing event planners with much more opportunities to increase participant engagement, obtain feedback and get more connected. The article also dives into the fact that event planners notice that new technology may be a distraction to people who are not accustomed to it. A fun fact I found about this article that event mobile applications can be customized to range up to thousands of dollars to develop and maintain. It seems that meeting applications are working well with larger events as opposed to smaller sized meetings.

How AI is Transforming the Event Planning Space One Conversation at a Time - 0 views

  •
This article discusses the use of AI technology in the event planning sector, concluding that AI can be used as chatbots interfaces, data collection tools, and recommendation engines for event planners, to make the event planning process much faster and easier.
  • ...2 more comments...
  •
Used properly, AI technology can lead to enhanced experiences for guests and a more streamlined and efficient process for event planners, and extremely useful feedback data. AI technology is increasingly being utilized by many businesses and investments in smart technology is increasing across industries. The article states that by 2020, about 80% of business plans will include the use of chatbots and the event planning industry will do the same.
  •
Here is why and how: --AI technology is easy to implement at a low cost --They are easy to "plug" in and incorporate and suitable for any size events --A chatbot is a great solution for engaging with guests easily at lower cost and complexity, although it seems the idea of creating a dedicated app for a smaller event may not seem necessary --Consider that a chatbot build for marketing purposes will cost small and medium sized enterprises about $3000-$5000 --However they can then be implemented for any event format within a particular business niche, so consider the investment may be worth it --Especially since they can be quickly trained to engage guests and answer frequently asked questions or to direct guests to the correct solution or person, 24 hours a day, so the need for support staff 24 hours a day is eliminated, or it allows a better experience if, for any reason, a guest needs help during non-business hours, and can even escalate guest situations at any time to management. --It can provide insightful information for guests, such as matching a guest with the best sessions for them, based on their interests, contacts, or any other useful information, taking away the need for the guest to analyze and plan their day based on an overwhelming complicated schedule --Eliminates the need for the guest to carry around a large schedule and try to plan their day accordingly --Not only can the AI technology automate recommendations for the guests, it can also automate recommendations for planners, taking away the need for planners to manually sift through a variety of sources, send outreach emails, etc.
  •
On that note it makes it easier to match planners with appropriate vendors as well. Both of these are considered the AI matchmaking function. The chatbot can also unite fellow guests with similar interests or experiences and give them a place to virtually meet each other, and Facebook has launched chatbot extensions. A company called PubNub allows a business to build its own chatbots from scratch.
  •
Instead of having to download yet another app, chatbots allow users to connect through apps they've already downloaded (like facebook messenger), or other popular apps. And of course all of this data and interaction is collected and can be analyzed by event planners to streamline and enhance business, increase revenue, and increase guest satisfaction based on recommendations from the AI technology.

Event Technology Companies Join Forces to Create EventTechHub | TSNN Trade Show News - 2 views

  • Four event technology companies have teamed up to create EventTechHub, a collaborative initiative featuring fully integrated digital solutions designed to make event planning more efficient, increase attendee engagement and grow event revenue opportunities.
  • “Event and meeting planners constantly point out to us how hard it is to find vendors (and) even after they have selected the ones they like, it is hard to manage them,”
  • They need multiple accounts, export and import files, pay them separately and hope they are compatible with each other. EventTechHub addresses this need and allows event planners to source and manage vendors easily. This makes things easy for everyone involved in the process.”
  • ...3 more annotations...
  • There is an overabundance of apps on the market, each with a distinct functionality (and) the need to implement multiple apps can become cumbersome, confusing and cost-prohibitive for most planners,” Wynant said.
  • He continued, “Our innovative technology not only has the ‘cool factor’ of turning smartphones into microphones but the event planners who used Tap To Speak report a 400 percent boost in audience engagement during their live events. We seamlessly integrate into the Eventinterface event program and itinerary feature – turning the audience mobile devices into feedback machines. This way, Eventinterface and Tap To Speak provide real-time audio and text communication, polls and surveys to the planners, speakers and attendees of the conference or event. The combination of our respective areas of expertise in combination with modern event technology gives even more power to event planners to make their events even better.”
  • “Combining the expertise of four event-industry leaders is a truly exciting prospect,” Arzoni said. “We’re ready to play our role in ensuring ETH is invaluable for anyone in the event and meeting planning industry.” Combined, EventTechHub’s founding companies have served more than 1,500 events of 25-30,000 participants in 40 countries for companies including Google, Applebee’s and Johns Hopkins University, which have worked with one or multiple EventTechHub solutions.
  •
This contribution between major event planning companies can really make a difference in the way vendors are found and managed. The new platform will address event planner's concerns and bring new innovative ideas to the sector.

10 Reasons Social Media Matters for Today's Event Planner - 0 views

  •
The business of Event Planning is booming and continues to grow largely in part due to social media. This article explains 10 reasons why they complement each other so well and it all revolves around the social aspect of our daily lives. Social networks bring people together and with today's technology, event planners can target specific groups or individuals quickly and efficiently at relatively little cost. I believe that social media is the driving force behind Event Planning. Without social media like Facebook and LinkedIn, Event Planning would be very costly and time consuming since these social media networks connect you to millions of people with the click of a button. I believe that without them, the task of reaching out to people and the cost of postage would hardly be worth the time.
  •
Social Media can impact not just a specific group but also many different groups. The need for meeting planner to utilize Social Media will benefit both the client/planner. We are so connected with our social media i.e. Facebook, twitter, Skype that neglect to read regular mail and even emails at times. Our phone technology has helped us stay focus on our social media networks (http://mashable.com/2009/04/29/events-social-media/).

  • Get a Positive Out of Every Event I love events for anyone in a career progression and career transition mode but I often hear people say things like I just didn’t get that much out of the event. A thought process focusing on positive outcomes helps here. Look for association or industry events where you can learn, connect and follow up with people involved. Event planners cannot take the risk on creating an event that does not work. They do not have a choice to attend an event; they must do their best and make the most out of the event. So if you attend the event you can determine, by planning, productive outcomes. What value could you get out of an event even if you do not make a key connection for your career or career search? Look at each event as a learning experience and get at least one or more positive out of every event you attend.
