Hello Alejandra. I really enjoyed reading this article, thank you for sharing! Although I am a germaphobe, and number three (Going contactless) appealed to me on a certain level, the points that stood out to me the most were; number two (Virtual reality tours) and number four (Chatbot as a digital concierge). I am one of the individuals who check reviews of places before I make a reservation but taking the virtual reality tour would give me more assurance of the property because individuals have different expectations and standards so what may be appropriate for them, may not be for me. The Chatbot as a digital concierge is quite convenient for both guests and hotels, hence it will ensure a more comfortable and relaxing stay.

Meetings Architecture is Changing How Conference Centers Do Business - 0 views

  •
Planning and executing meetings just got more high-tech. Meeting architecture is a software program that takes planning a meeting to a whole new level. It allows for the users to have an "experience" and not just a regular meeting. It is all-encompassing in that it involves the participants and their needs, as well as the desired outcomes, when in the planning stage. For instance, it will need to know how heavy the planners would like the audience to participate and the type of format to use. It will use all of this information to "construct" an actual plan for the meeting with all of the logistics needed.

What is more, it invites couples to explore the hotel as a wedding venue, and offers content that engages minds with the possibilities, such as wedding checklists, a space calculator and availability calendar. And installing a touchscreen system is not complicated. Content is controlled and published to the screen using digital signage software, which can be downloaded from reputable providers for free. In a word, this new wedding planning technology is good for both hotels and consumers.

  • The Human Resource Information System (HRIS) is a software, an online solution for the data entry, data tracking, and data information needs of the Human Resources (HR) and management functions within a business. Normally packaged as a data base, hundreds of companies sell some form of HRIS and every HRIS has different capabilities.
  • New business intelligence technologies offer HR departments the ability to invest in Human Capital Management analytics solutions designed to yield the insights essential for making informed decisions on HR. Business intelligence allows HR departments to become a strategic asset within the organisation.
  • Future of human resources analysis has to be linked to other key performance indicators such as revenue and profitability. HR professionals must understand the organisation’s business plans and the operational, financial and customer-facing goals they are expected to achieve. Then they should associate these goals with the existing workforce metrics. In many cases, HR information is scattered, which leads to non-systematic hiring, training, measurement data which is essential these days, as globalisation, tight labour markets and an aging workforce are causing many businesses to more closely inspect the performance of their largest investment, i.e. the workforce whose compensation represents 60 per cent to 70 per cent of the entire expenses of the organisation. New business intelligence technologies offer HR departments the ability to invest in Human Capital Management analytics solutions designed to yield the insights essential for making informed decisions on HR. Business intelligence allows HR departments to become a strategic asset within the organisation. It helps the HR department make key decisions around recruitment, planning, and budgeting to support the strategic goals. More than ever before, HR professionals are being asked to show how their company’s workforce policies affect the overall business plan. Investing time and money in software solutions is the need of the hour.

Using information technology to assist in Human Resources allows easier management of information and benefit plans. Human Resources will be able to measure their contributions easier and become more accountable for their specific work. Many high-end hotels use web based HRIS, which enables a corporate executive team to have access to the data. This also allows team members to access their own data, apply for leaves, or change their residential address. HRIS has great benefits that can be used in the hospitality and tourism industry. Human Resources can be easily scattered and confusing to new hires, so having a better systematic system that is computerized makes information clearer. When much of the hospitality industry is under globalized companies this can benefit companies when they have properties all over the world. Corporate offices can easily access human resources information from another part of the globe at anytime of the day, instead of having to call up a human resource manager who may be in a different time zone. HRIS makes life easier and allows human resources to show policies and business plans in an easier way.
  •
The Hospitality industry is known to have very high attrition rates. This makes it all the more critical to have a robust HR information system (HRIS) in place. HRIS has emerged as among the most crucial aspects of hospitality IT. No hospitality management system can be considered complete without an effective HRIS system. An efficient HRIS system manages the recruitment, staff-shifts, time & attendance, and many other aspects of your hospitality HR requirements. It should be able to drill down to history files and provide e-leave application & training management. Immerauf has partnered with Greytip software to bring you one of the industry's best Folklore HR software to suit all your HR needs including a resume bank to store a active database of prospective employees.
  •
HRIS solution in hospitality industry is crucial. it makes managers save time and money to pursue the high profitability. this software can collect the employee information or interviewers information and choose the best employee who are suitable for hotel. this solution can compare the employee working experiences like how long this employee works in hospitality industry, what his job was before, what his position was before. using this software, managers can have a clear understanding of the performance of the employee.

Now more and more people can not live without mobile and mobile could be very useful when people are on their vacation like planning and booking hotel or airlines. E-Business Strategy - 0 views

  •
This article explains that to have an efficient and effective e-business strategy, a business needs to set goals, have extensive research, plan accordingly, and keep organized. Having a distinguished business plan is a necessity if a company truly wants to be successful in cyberspace. There are several aspects that must be taken into consideration while preparing and organizing a strategic plan such as competitive, economic, and social/demographic factors. In other words, businesses must be knowledgeable about their competitors, understand how their consumers are spending, and study the human population. All in all, the most imperative feature in e-business is to set rational goals and have an accurate strategic plan. If this is done properly, a business will be in the precise direction to be successful.
  •
It is a very interesting article because it talks about the different ways to start an e-business and how one has to gather all information and organize properly in order for it to grow. Not only you have to take in consideration all factors, such as economic, social, etc, but one has to be able to think out of the box to see how it can work effectively. They should study the market and aim towards their customers to give them what they want to buy.

The concept of this article is totally new to me. Air travel contributes at least three percent of global greenhouse gases and it is still rising. However, it is really good to know that there are certain airlines begin to pay attention on this issue. Dutch airline nowdays has used recyceled cooking oil(biofuel) to power planes. In fact, the plane had a 50-50 mix of biofuel and regular jet fuel in one of its four engines, which help cut carbon emission making by the planes while also help reduce nagative impact on biodiversity and food supply. The changes involved higher-quality beds, brighter lighting and bigger work spaces. And those travelers were loyal to brands that offered reliable, comfortable services. Many of these Generation Y travelers in the 20's and 30's are engaged in planning major events such as scheduling nightly social events, like happy hours and free wine tastings. Event management and planning is critical to every hospitality organization especially to our millennial travelers and business travelers.

HFTP is short for Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals. It is working with members of several organizations, including EHL, HFTP's Research institute at the University of Houston, Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Hospitality Professionals Association. From the article, HFTP has start developing a global hospitality accounting system users guide. The global guide will provide the industry with a comprehensive glossary of inventory terminology, charts of accounts and will benchmark common allocation for specific regions of the world. The project is planned as a three-step process. 1. Final year bachelor students at Ecole Hoteliere De Lausanne (EHL) in Switzerland working on their Student Business Project are gathering data, surveying hotel operations and assembling terms of reference. 2. Once the data is assembled, it will be distributed to regional teams of industry professionals that are chaired by industry consultants. These teams will develop sample charts of accounts and common allocations for their specific areas. 3. The team chairs will finalize the project by authoring a discussion on similarities or differences of allocations. The initial guide will be published in English, with plans to distribute globally in multiple languages.

CBS plans to use improved technology for Masters telecast | Masters - 1 views

  • wireless radio frequency cameras will follow the leaders around from the practice range to the first tee
  • “It’s as big (as), if not bigger than, the Super Bowl,” he said. “It’s a challenge, but it’s all in the planning. We have people planning this 12 months a year.”
  •
CBS Sports debuted their improved technology during their recent Masters telecast with the help of high-speed wireless radio frequency (RF) cameras. The cameras followed the leaders on the ground to provide viewers more access to the 365-acre golf course. This enhanced technology has never been used before at the Masters, a traditional venue that is notorious for its cell phone ban. In this day-and-age spending a day without a cell phone is unfathomable to some. However thousands of patrons attending abide by the rules for the love of the game. The Masters is comparable to the Super Bowl in terms of media coverage and hype. The event also generates higher room rates and occupancy levels due to increased demand.
