The Kennan Institute and National Public Radio in the USA has established an online audio archive of Soviet and Russian history. "The archive consists of recordings dating back to the earliest years of the Soviet state. Included are the voices and speeches of key political figures, including Lenin, Kerensky, Kirov, Beria, Stalin, Gorbachev, and others. Among the recorded interviews are Anna Larina (Bukharin's widow); Valentin Berezhkov, Stalin's wartime interpreter; Yelena Bonner, Sakharov's widow; and Lev Pevsner, a survivor of the Leningrad Blockade. There is also on-the-scene recorded sound of many events in Soviet history, including: the Russian and American armies meeting at the Elbe; Stalin's funeral; the August 1991 coup against Gorbachev. [...] The material comes from Soviet and Russian sources, the NPR archives, the archives of the BBC, and individual donors. Some of the material is in Russian, some in English. "

History of science is hip!

This is really cute! It's a series of puzzles of historical images, with jigsaw pieces that you move into place while a timer ticks. Might be fun with some junior classes - an engaging (there's the education buzzword!) tool for a rainy day. Also has a 'Dress Up A Historical Figure' section. Sounds interesting.

This is largely a secondary sources (which I usually avoid - largely because I figure you've all already got enough of these in the classroom and library so primary sources are more valuable) however the information looked pretty good and it is easy-access for students. That's always a good thing. It has some timelines too.

You'll find quite a few historical figures on Twitter (Sulla is my favourite - he's a cranky conservative just like Sulla would have been) and this could presage an interesting development in education. Or it could just be a passing fad. By the time that question has been answered, most people will have forgotten it all anyway. A history teacher's lament...

This is a fairly well-known site which provides simple information on key historical figures and developments. It's run by a bloke with a Master's degree in history so the information is probably reliable.
