Jamestown and the Virginia Experiment The Virtual Jamestown Archive is a digital research, teaching and learning project that explores the legacies of the Jamestown settlement and "the Virginia experiment." As a work in progress, Virtual Jamestown aims to shape the national dialogue on the occasion of the four hundred-year anniversary observance in 2007 of the founding of the Jamestown colony.

Earth Album is a simpler, slicker Flickr mash-up that allows you to explore some of the most stunning photos in the world courtesy of Google maps and Flickr. To begin your journey, just click somewhere on the map, e.g. "India". The My History Network has many new features now and a new address. The Redistricting Game is designed to educate, engage, and empower citizens around the issue of political redistricting. Currently, the political system in most states allows the state legislators themselves to draw the lines. This system is subject to a wide range of abuses and manipulations that encourage incumbents to draw districts which protect their seats rather than risk an open contest. By exploring how the system works, as well as how open it is to abuse, The Redistricting Game allows players to experience the realities of one of the most important (yet least understood) aspects of our political system. The game provides a basic introduction to the redistricting system, allows players to explore the ways in which abuses can undermine the system, and provides info about reform initiatives - including a playable version of the Tanner Reform bill to demonstrate the ways that the system might be made more consistent with tenets of good governance. Beyond playing the game, the web site for The Redistricting Game provides a wealth of information about redistricting in every state as well as providing hands-on opportunities for civic engagement and political action.

The approximately 1,275 images in this collection have been selected from a wide range of sources, most of them dating from the period of slavery. This collection is envisioned as a tool and a resource that can be used by teachers, researchers, students, and the general public - in brief, anyone interested in the experiences of Africans who were enslaved and transported to the Americas and the lives of their descendants in the slave societies of the New World.

I've uploaded a few documents related to Habits of Mind in AP World History to my Scribd page. Does anyone else use Habits of Mind in their teaching? My school is implementing it next year and I'd be very interested in learning from the experiences of others. 

Yes my school has been using Dimensions of Learning for the last three years. Keep an eye out for Art Costa who comes out from the States to inservice teachers in Brisbane on Habits of Mind. I really enjoyed my day with him. Very practical stuff. Ancient Lives is recruiting laymen to help transliterate the Oxyrhynchus Papyrii. No knowledge of Greek required, but you get first hand experience of what archaeologists and papyrologists do in the process - measuring manuscripts, identifying letters, etc.
