3 Strategies to Promote Independent Thinking in Classrooms | Edutopia - 9 views

  •
In his study of people who find satisfaction with their lives, Harvard psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi defines as autotelic those who are happiest when they are absorbed in complex activities. By focusing on tasks and outcomes that stretch their skills, these young people are more likely to grow into contented adults. The most significant factor for autotelic development is what Csikszentmihalyi terms attentional capacity.

Strictly Business « Library of Congress Blog - 0 views

  • You might be surprised at what can be found in the stacks of the Adams building (at 101 Independence Ave. S.E. in Washington). Looking for statistics? We have railroad statistics dating back to 1888, as well as many U.S. Census publications.
  • To learn more about the Library’s Business Reference section and view the variety of resources available, visit Business Reference Services online. It also has a number of databases and e-resources available for on-site use. If you’re not in the neighborhood, try the Library’s Ask a Librarian service.

A Soviet Poster A Day - 9 views

  •
I don't usually save blogs, but thought this might be useful for people when you're looking for places to find decorations for your classroom. Why pay a fortune for some dodgy poster from a textbook company when you can download posters directly (or even better, go to www.historicaltweets.com - I've got some up in my classroom in A3 and they rock!) and print them out. Saves on budget, too.
