Vatican Secret Archives - 0 views

The VATICAN SECRET ARCHIVES. Sounds cool, doesn't it? I'm not sure it is. You have to fill in all this information and get special acess but I couldn't find anything in there except some Masonic-looking logos. Very Da Vinci Code.

Those folk in Suffolk must be big into their archaeology. Their County Council runs this site which focusses on archaeology in the area. Has quite a few links and also information on sites in the area.

This site has a treasure trove of sources and resources on European history from all periods. Beautiful images and some podcasts, etc too.

The ULTIMATE tree-ring pages! - 0 views

  •
Henri loves his tree-ring dating and that's why he set up this site with all things dendrochronological. Would be useful if you're doing archaeology with your students (it's customary in Queensland for year 11 students to do a unit on that).

Sorry to binge on flickr, but this one was too good for an ancient history teacher to ignore. Over 2000 images of sites and artefacts from ancient Greece. Very cool.

This seems to have some high-quality images of artefacts. Not sure if there are documentary sources, though.

Welcome to the International Dunhuang Project - 0 views

  •
This site is a bit obscure (medieval Tibetan and all that) but has some images on Buddhism, Tibet, China and the Silk Road. It's from a site at Dunhuang, which is along the old Silk Road.

This is an interesting site which will be engaging for students, I'd imagine. Has funky graphics and colourful movement. It is organised around several themes and then students can choose a civilisation to focus on. They them look through a series of images with accompanying information. Seeings it's by the British Museum it should be good quality information.

This is the English section of the Louvre Museum. No doubt it will have heaps of images of the artworks and artefacts they pinched from everywhere.

A database of archaeological finds of medieval badges and ampulla in Europe. It takes you to a map where you can search for them. Admission - I don't know what an ampulla is. Sounds cool though, doesn't it?

Raid on Deerfield: the Many Stories of 1704 - 3 views

Looks a bit more like a WebQuest type of site rather than a source collection, however has a timeline and some images. Seeings there is so little on the topic of New World colonisation generally I decided to add it.

Beautiful images and well-organised. A valuable resource for the topic given the paucity of resources for indigenous history around the world.

This is more for archaeology than history, but looked so useful I added it. I think it's kind of a database of archaeological sites and news maintained by archaeologists.
