It is a reflection on a study conducted on more than 21,000 couples in all the United states and gives 10 easy tips on what to do to improve your marriage and also gives the top 10 reasons that cause problems for a marriage. I think it is an easy piece to read for everyone at every stage of their married life. How it changed my thinking: Most of the tips are common sense that everyone will agree to it but more than often we fail to follow; reading them kind of reinforces their message. Credibility of source: The website "first things first" is a non profit grass roots organization that came to be as a tool to help the residents of Hamilton county , Tennessee. Apparently they have a high divorce rate and other relationship and children rearing issues and this website offers advice, support and education on hoe to deal with family problems on a day to day basis. Dozens of books are written every year about the things that go wrong in marriage. Now one of America's foremost marriage researchers has evaluated the things that go right in marriage. David H. Olson, founder of Life Innovations and one of the creators of the Prepare/Enrich marriage enrichment tools, has surveyed 21,501 married couples in all 50 states to identify the top ten strengths of happy marriages.

It talks about the basic respect that partners need to show each other. It says that a happy marriage means respecting your spouse. It also discusses healthy ways to resolve conflicts step by step with a spouse. How This Influenced My Thinking: This article made a great point - that true compatibility doesn't exist, so shrug off the little stuff. It says that irreconcilable differences are normal and we shouldn't try to resolve or unresolve but rather come to terms with them and except the differences between you and your partner. I often feel that if you are unhappy because of disagreements that will never be resolved -then you should leave. But the point that we should just except these disagreements and cherish the stronger aspects of a relationship has changed my thinking on this. There are four main parenting styles that are out there and each child was parented by at least one of them. How this influenced my thinking: It made me realize that there are more parenting styles out there than what how my parents parented me. It makes me happy that my parents parented me the way they did because i do not like the other type of parenting styles. Credibility of SOurce: It is from the University of MInnesota and was revised about four times by different people.

It also gave some good insight on what parents could do to make their child feel less confused about the divorce. How This Influenced My Thinking: I learned about statistics of how likely children are to behave in negative ways after divorce and also gave me good advice on how to help your child cope. Credibility of Source: Lesley is a psychologist and has a Ph.D and all of her information seemed to be very accurate.

How This Influenced My Thinking: Opened my eyes up to the many challenges present in this type of situation - when a couple is not happy together nor getting along but still need to work really hard to keep a good enough relationship to support their children. It discusses the facts of what will be happening to the body as a women ages and how to deal with accepting the fact that changes are happening. How This Influenced My Thinking: This article discusses many aspects in ones life that can affect the way a women feels about herself at 50. It made a good point that if you have compulsive thoughts about aging you will start to drive yourself crazy - a thought that will make you feel like you are living to the tic-toc of the clock. It is a very rare occurrence and it mostly happen if IVF is involved; in this particular case was all natural. The pregnancy and delivery had no complications and the 4 baby boys were delivered at 31 weeks via c-section. How has this influenced my thinking: This was a good happy story that it doesn't happen very often.
